In Poems

Standing at a cross road.
Dont know which way to choose,
I have so much to gain,
but just as much to lose.
Knife in hand,
I take in a deep breath.
Hold it inside,
Till it bursts out,
Im left gasping for more.
Slowly I press the blade,
against my skin, I could so easily,
draw blood from my future,
and bleed out.
But no, i take this pen,
and write my plight.
no knife will break my skin,
no blood will flow from my wounds.
Because this pen will not run out of ink,
but leak it on the pages,
Continuing my story that won't end here,
for i have chosen the pen,
and scribbled out the words of hate,
that I have couragously
risen above.
I take in a breath
then sigh in relief
for I know it is not my last one.
because in my hand the knife,
no longer exists.
I have chosen the pen.

I seriously love the theme of this poem. Knife or pen? Choose pen :) You have a pretty good flow in this poem, maybe work on it a bit. Altogether I truly think that this might be one of my favourite poems that I've encountered on this site because, as I said before, the theme is great. This poem is a story and it is a story that I think most people can understand and relate to in some way. I like the imagery you use in this piece: How I imagine someone standing at a fork in the road, then suddenly there is a knife, but they let go of the knife and now they have a pen. It's a story I can easily follow and therefore enjoy :) Thank you for this beautiful piece of poetry!

You are so welcome and thank you for reading it! :)

Hey there Aouther2b here! I love this piece and can't wait to review it!

What I liked:

1. The message. I myself struggle with the issues you express, and unfortunately can't say I have beaten them like you seem to have done. But I do love how you turned the pain into poetry. The piece is very strong and holds so much emotion behind every line.

2. The turning point. I think you made a very smooth transition in deciding to write instead of cut. Some may have struggled with it but you glided around that corner.

What I didn't like:

1. The flow. It was a little choppy in some places. It may have to do with the punctuation. At least that is where I found my bumpy spots, while its great to have punctuation be careful not to over punctuate other wise its a lot of stop and start.

2. You start the piece with a rhyme, then it's gone. It may have been just how you wanted to start, but for me it was a big speed bumb to not see it again. It held such a nice rhythm but then it was disrupted.

Overall:
This piece is really good. Full of emotion and a truely great piece. Work on your flow a little more and you may just have a masterpiece! Great job and keep writing!

Thanks so much ill give this piece another look! :)

Hey there MorticiansDaughter19,
I'm Graham and I'm going to be doing a little review for you today! First I would like to start by saying that this is absolutely brilliant this piece is. I love the message and it was very well executed. I especially liked the turning point of the poem. Also another quick not your punctuation is very very well done and for that I applaud you. In Particular for me my favorite few lines are
"Completing my story that won't end here,
for i have chosen the pen,
and scribbled out the words of hate,
that I have couragously
risen above."

These lines just really stood out to me. It shows a very good sense of optimism that really adds to the overall allure of this poem. Although "couragously" is spelled wrong and it should be "courageously" Other than that one spelling error I have absolutely no problems with this poem at all. Very well done! As always, right on my friend, write on!!

Cheers
Graham

Thank you so much Graham for pointing out that error I really appreciate it! and I am very thrilled that you liked my poem!
