I never have enough time
Even a handful of it
Slips through my fingers like sand
What a waste
I never have enough time
Even if I hug it close
It leaves to embrace others
What a waste
I never have enough time
Even if I use it well
Always more time to be had
What a waste
I never have enough time
Except when I've used it all
And someone needs it more
What a waste
Perhaps time is like runners
Diverse, they run at different speeds
But we know we can't change them
What a waste

Fist of good work, very clever how it wasted my time (jokes).
I liked the message, reminded me of Pink Floyd's song Time, I love that song. The Poem comforts me in the idea that i am not the only one to have wasted time. Ive often had panic attacks about my life going nowear and just being a slug of boring days. But this poem showed me that we all have similar demons in our heads and that to a degree I am normal. This makes this poem mean a lot to me.
So thank you,
Giles
p.s please don't kill me for the joke!
Hi, thank you for the review, I'm so glad you like the poem!
Hi there! This is Orabella, here with a short review. ^^
Why are all your poems so good?? Like, how can you get me to feel and care about things like time and leaves at the bottoms of piles??? How do you get me to almost cry, even when you're saying "Don't Cry"???? However you do it, I congratulate you, because goodness, you're so good at doing it and I love your poems!!!
I love your repetition of "What a waste" and "I never have enough time." It's not written too often that I don't like it, and it still emphasizes the words and gives them a deeper meaning I think.
I also love your use of sand. It makes me think of an hourglass, and the way it "slips through my fingers like sand" greater defines an hourglass running out.
Honestly, this perfectly describes me right now. I hardly have any time and I probably should be working on schoolwork rather than writing a review... but how can I resist? This poem is great and I want you to know it too! (If you somehow didn't already)
I also like how your second to last line is pretty much the same as the title. I love when writers do that. It's like it brings the poem full circle, and it leaves the reader with a sense of contentment.
Thank you so much for sharing! I truly enjoyed reading this. ^^ Remember to keep writing!
Hi Orabella, thank you so much for the review! I'm glad you liked the poem, and also my other poems too. It means a lot to me, hearing that.
Thanks again!
Hello Lumi! Cupid here, I thought I'd fly over a review for you! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today! But I thought I'd put a twist on it and make a new years themed review, let's get to it shall we?
🔢 Counting Down to New Beginnings: First Impression:
As I read your poem, the words started to dance off the page and wove their way into the depths of my heart. The theme of, or rather the lack thereof, resonated deeply within me. Each line a chord, reminding me of the constant struggle to catch hold of those precious minutes that slip through our fingers like sand. The sentiment of never having enough time is that many of us can relate to, and your words beautifully capture the frustration yearning that accompany this universal experience!
The repetition of the phrase "What a waste" throughout the poem serves as a poignant reminder of how quickly time elude us. It echoes the feeling of missed opportunities, of moments gone by the blink of an eye, leaving us with a pervasive sense of loss. Your words evoke a longing for more time, a desire to savor each fleeting that passes us by.
The analogy of time as runners, is a brilliant and thought-provoking one. It adds layers of complexity to your poem, suggesting that time is an ever-changing force that is beyond. Just as we can't alter the speed of runners, we find ourselves to manipulate time to our advantage. It's a sobering realization, one that forces us to confront our inherent limitations and come to terms with the unstoppable nature time.
📝 Setting Resolutions: Room Improvements!
Your poem is very concise and impactful, with lines carrying weight and meaning. The repetition of the phrase "I never have enough time" enhances the overall rhythm and adds emphasis to this central theme. The structure flow of the poem is well-done! The only suggestion I have is to exploring the transitions between each stanza to create a more seamless transition between thoughts and images. Overall, beautifully expressed!
✨Shining night stars: Highlights of Piece
One of the highlights of your poem is the relatable and universal theme of time. The metaphor of time slipping through your fingers like sand resonates with the reader and effectively conveys the fleeting nature of this precious resource The mention of hugging time close, only to watch it leave and embrace others, evokes a sense of the longing for more time and the reality that it be held or contained. The contrasting thoughts of never having enough time and always more time to be had elicit a range of emotions and contemplation on the concept of time's abundance and scarcity!
🎆 Fireworks of Emotion: Favorite lines!
Whoa, this stanza offers a thought-provoking analogy, comparing time to runners with differing speeds. It highlights the acceptance of time's unchangeable nature and the understanding that time continues to move forward regardless of our desires or efforts to alter its pace. adds depth to the poem's reflection on time and the perception of its passing.
These lines hold such a profound truth that resonates deeply within each of us. simple yet powerful admission of never having enough time strikes a chord within our souls. The imagery of holding time close, as if trying to capture it in our embrace only for it to slip away to embrace others, perfectly captures the fleeting nature time. It evokes a sense of regret, leaving us with an achingly beautiful longing for the moments that have slipped through our fingers.
These lines encapsulate the paradoxical nature of time. when we believe we have finally utilized every precious second, we come to the realization that someone else may be in greater need of it. The bittersweet of this realization lingers in our hearts, as we are reminded of the self required to consider the needs of others, even in the face of our own time constraints.
I only wanted to quote a few if I didn't stop here I would've quoted your whole poem haha! Your words beautifully capture the longing, the regret and the profound understanding that time is both a precious gift and a fleeting commodity. They evoke a sense of introspection and invite readers to reflect upon their own with time, reminding us to cherish each moment and make the most of the time we have. Well done Lumi, well done.
🥂 A Toast to the Future: Closing thoughts
In conclusion, your poem serves as a poignant reminder of the elusive nature of time and the longing for more that within each of us. It draws us into the depths of contemplation, us reflect on the moments that slip through our fingers and the yearning we feel to grasp hold of them.
May your future writing be filled with inspiration and fulfillment. Thank you for sharing your voice and letting it resonate with those who read your work. Happy writing, and may the new years bring you the experiences and growth that you seek.
