My mother tells me to take risks.
To be a fish out of water
But the fish that emerges from the depths of the sea
Often dries on shore.
If it’s lucky, there it will remain
Or if not, cooked for the gluttony of the consumer
A fish out of water is the fish that dies.
It’s safe in the water.
It’s cool.
It’s refreshing.
Out of the water is scary.
I’d rather stay in the water
Than dry up and be consumed by man.

Hello! Cadmium Antimny is here to offer his insights.
So initially I read the poem and didn't have much to say, but then it started to sink in. I like how you started with a narrative describing how your mother likes you to be a fish out of water. You then describe, metaphorically, the dangers of going outside of your comfort zone, or in your words, being a fish out of water. You then close the poem by describing your contentment with sticking to what you're comfortable with. I was really able to resonate with this poem. Great job!
This is a fresh perspective on the term that is often thrust into our faces by eager thrill-seekers; "get out of your comfort zone!"
It is called the 'comfort' zone for a reason. It is comfortable.
Taking risks can be beneficial but often the thing that helps us most mentally is often relaxing in our own bubbles.
This is a great piece, keep writing!
Hiii I would just like to say that this is a beautiful poem that personally reminds me of myself. Makes me think about my past and the person who I sometimes still feel like. I feel like it will inspire others and I also hope you yourself if you are feeling a similar way to the poem I hope you overcome this because I know you can do it!! Thank you so so sooo much for writing this I loved how you can be able to compare a fish to things such as a comfort zone It's so creative
