Ace Exists

Nobody exists. Simple as that. Everyone thinks they exist, but nobody really does. The only being or thing that actually exists is Ace, a young boy with no clue about it. He is completely pointless and won’t accomplish anything useful in his life, so he is a complete waste of space.

Existence, as you can probably see, is useless for Ace and unknown to us.

So there’s basically Ace, the little boy who actually exists but has no point or meaning, and then there’s the rest of us morons who don’t. Wow, look at how wonderful our ‘lives’ are.

If we aren’t real, why do we think we do? Nobody is sure, but that answers why so many of us are after the meaning of life. We unknowingly want to exist, but we can’t because we’re trapped in the void of the nothing we call life.

Poor us, we’ll never get to exist. How sad. Apparantely, existence is great. You can actually feel and see things, greater than we can. You go through life knowing more, breathing more, thinking more. Too bad we can’t experience that.

So what’s the point in thinking that we exist? Are we here just for the thrills? Just to enjoy it? I don’t know, but it’s depressing knowing that only a stupid little boy exists.

But somebody’s got to not exist, right?

I admire the attempts at channeling an inner Jean-Paul Sartre, knee-deep in French existential comedy and the questions without answers, but admiration for the attempts doesn't translate quite so well into admiration for the finished product. Also, reading this makes me assume this is the opening of a novel. Yet, in doing so, it says everything and I cannot see how this will extend into a longer project. Unless, of course, you are writing a philosophical novel. In that case, you're no Nietzsche yet.

I like your Ace character. That is a positive. He remains unknown yet known; non-existent as a character yet exists through your insistence. I really like your idea about the world having no meaning or point, but that is just because I agree with you, and not something to be taken seriously. Also, I do like the ambiguity of the narrator, who often breaks the fourth wall and is really biased.

So, those are the positives, Now onto the negatives. Whilst I have commented on the comic narrator, at times it comes across as really arrogant, and not merely by intention. I get the impression that you are writing about big, mind opening ideas but without actually opening the mind, despite what you might think. Also, why Ace? Because he is a "stupid little boy"? Your use of "pointless" is rather excessive.

You have laid down the groundwork for a good existential work. However, much like the content of your work, I remain indifferent as to whether or not Ace exists.

Pardon if I sound stupid, but who is Jean-Paul Sartre?

He was a French existentialist philosopher and author. He is associated with existentialism, which often deals with the themes you allude to in your poem.

ladybug,
Liked your beginning paragraph way to real the reader in. The little boy ace shows that you
Wanted to show us readers a real life example of none existence. Well written and needed but to be developed more in order for the author to help understand existence and how that applies in today's society.

Hello there, I'm here for a review.

I'd like to say that this is actually pretty amazing for something that you write aimlessly when you are bored. I'd like to see what you write when you actually put yourself to it! Anyway, I'll get to the review.

Overall, this was very good, and although it is not a very in depth explanation of this philosophy as to why nobody but Ace exists, I still found it quite interesting. It would, however, be nice to hear a more developed explanation of this.

The way you expressed yourself in writing the story really does get me thinking of the uselessness of life and how someone's life can be insignificant and negligible, especially if the little boy Ace does exist and he is the only one who does. Also, I liked how you ended this with a question, and I think it fits very well here.

There is, however, one negative thing that I have to tell you, but it is merely a spelling mistake (and probably a typo), but apparently takes to ps.

That is all I have to say, but I did like this a lot.
I look forward to read any more things that you write aimlessly, for they are pretty interesting.

Spoiler
Also, if these things interest you, this work made me think of something called sollipsism, which would have been the case of this work if you were Ace and you were the only one who really existed.

Hey, Ladybug! Here's a review!

First, the title. A very good one. I really liked it. It grabs your attention and it reflects the story, too. So, well done there.

Then, the plot. Well, I must say that you have done a great job "writing without an aim". I mean, the theme of the story was great. I was confused when I first read it. But reading it twice made it clear to me. This is really good. I love it!

In the last line of the first para, you used the word "pointless" twice. This is not a problem. But I think if you used another word in place of the second "pointless", it would be better. Also, I would like to read more lines concerning why Ace is really pointless. A little bit more of explanation.

In the third para, the first line should be like this- "If we aren't real, then why do we think we are?" Not "we do?"

Again, you have used many Exclamatory sentences without using exclamation sign. I think, you should use the sign there.

That's all. It was great reading the story!
