Sweet like sugarcane and white like milk,
A galaxy of flavor and chemical smell
I may be young compared to Stevia but
I remain complementary hysteria
My name is Aspartame,
And in that name I shall reign
Chemically overtaking your brain
Call me Aspartame.
Less is more,
As I take the floor,
Melt on your tongue and we have just begun,
A thousandfold increase, sugar do you call that sweet?
Stuck in third place
Ever losing the same old race
It could drive you insane.
Light up the pleasure center in your brain,
Calories you crave
And I refuse to cave
You’ll never have what you desire
But I’ll make you feel higher
I can do what they can’t intake
A diet play date
A health conscious mistake.
My name is Aspartame,
And in that name I shall reign
Chemically overtaking your brain
Call me Aspartame.
I shall reign.
Stevia and Sugarcane.
Salt and Pepper beneath my fame.
Break out of the natural frame,
Vanilla and Coffee beans
no matter how it seems
I shall reign supreme
Its only yourselves to blame,
And call me Aspartame.

I really loved this! It is definitely something you don't see every day! It is weird but not to the point you start to get uncomfortable. When you say "You'll never have what you desire but I'll make you feel higher" it reminds me of an addiction. To anything really. It reminds me of a little cafe with those little sweetener packets. Though, at the same time, it had a bit of an evil side to it. Like stealing the fame from others. It was really good! This needs more light! WE NEED THIS IN THE LITERARY SPOTLIGHT.
thanks!
That was interesting..... but in a really good way. I had to Google what Aspartame is and, this is a really good poem idea. It sounded a little scary but that made it really cool. I loved the:
Chemically overtaking your brain
Call me Aspartame
I shall reign
It's so cool. It makes Aspartame sound like a evil prince trying to take over the kingdom or something. Am I sure I want Aspartame in my food? Not anymore. But you made a dope supervillian out of some artificial sweetener. Thank you!!!
hehe, thanks! this is actually part of my shared poetry universe called Assorted Seasonings
