Speak of the devil and he shall appear
Warm breath on the nape of my neck
And sweet nothings whispered into my ear
A gentle hand upon my face
"You were gone for so long."
Words fly from my mouth on a breath of longing
"Patience is a virtue"
The reply is soft and tickles my face
"You know what they say
Absence makes the heart grow fonder"
The apple of my eye
My love that reaches across the seas
Blue eyes as beautiful as the day is long
A hug as good as gold
"Waiting for you has left me at wit's end.
I was all dressed up with nowhere to go."
A smile that lights up a face
"It's okay my love I'm here now.
And after all,
All's well that ends well."

Hello CreativelyWritten!
Shadowlight here to give you my two cents on this piece (don't worry I don't bite) I normally don't review poetry because I don't write it- and that would be like a doctor telling a magician how to do his job but I digress.
I thought this piece was adorable, very clever in the concept and even more how you executed it. I think you arranged each Cliche in it's proper placed, to actually make me feel what the poem was mean to be, not just laugh at the absurdity.
This poem though meant to be an exercise is actually really thought provoking if you dig deeper then just the cliches composing it, why do people feel this way about love? WHY are these the cliche's that keep coming back? I mean clearly they resonate with people no matter how hard we writers try to avoid them.
All in all I really liked it, cute on the outside throught provoking the deeper you dig.
Bravo!
Thanks so much for the reviews. I am usually very bad at poetry. The only stuff I've done good was for assignments. I was very excited when I was able to have the poem make sense with cliches. Thanks again for the review.
Hey!

I really liked this poem, I thought it was very witty and love the idea of using as many cliches as possible. I can't find much to critique because poetry is such a unique topic, all poems are different and unless you're following a particular type of poetry than critiquing is extremely hard to do. I didn't see any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes which is generally what I look for in poems as, like I said earlier, there isn't much to critique.
This was really, really well done & I look forward to reading more from you
