there is an ache in my stomach that no food can fill
a hungry space only satisfied by your touch
satiated only by my lips on yours, drinking you in
a thirst so intense I can never have enough
pressing you to the need in my chest as if I could consume you through my skin
your heart beats against mine, matching the pulse of my desire
call me mistress and steal my breath
say I'm pretty and set me on fire
dark eyes meet mine and I am lost in the depths
darling, won't you come find me? show me the way
run your fingers along my spine as my fingers tangle in your hair
press your lips to my neck and turn predator to prey
let me crawl inside your ribs and fall asleep in there
I could never leave you alone
let me satiate your need
I know you must be starving, so let your tongue run over my bones
and I will worship your teeth as you feed

I love this poem, but it also concerns me. It's certainly a beautiful work of art, but- WOW. This is some pretty heavy stuff. Are you okay?
This poem got me so hooked. Not gonna lie it actually reminds me of the novel "Haunting Adeline". I don't know if you have read it but if you have you know what I mean. This poem brings out true, raw desire and lust and I absolutely love it. This poem is actually perfect for dark romance readers. Dark romance readers will definitely be able to connect this poem with one of the novels they've read. Just like me. Honestly it's just really good 😊
This poem is a captivating and raw portrayal of desire, blending physical and emotional hunger into a powerful expression of longing. The speaker's need for connection is depicted as an insatiable thirst, where love and intimacy are equated with consumption and survival. The visceral imagery of hunger, thirst, and consuming the other person creates an intense, almost primal atmosphere, underscoring the depth of the speaker's passion.
The opening line, "there is an ache in my stomach that no food can fill," introduces the theme of emotional hunger, while the subsequent line, "a hungry space only satisfied by your touch," intensifies this, suggesting that the speaker’s craving is for something far more profound than physical sustenance. The metaphors of hunger and consumption run throughout the poem, emphasizing the speaker's overwhelming need for their partner’s touch, presence, and love.
The line "pressing you to the need in my chest as if I could consume you through my skin" is particularly striking, as it conveys an almost desperate desire to merge with the other person. The idea of wanting to consume someone through touch suggests a longing for closeness that goes beyond the physical, hinting at a desire for complete emotional fusion.
The poem’s shift from sensuality to a more predatory dynamic—"press your lips to my neck and turn predator to prey"—adds a layer of tension, as the roles of dominance and submission blur. This element of the poem creates a complex power dynamic, portraying intimacy as both an act of vulnerability and strength. The speaker's willingness to be both the worshiper and the worshiped, as seen in the lines "let me satiate your need" and "I will worship your teeth as you feed," further emphasizes this duality, making the connection feel both sacred and carnal.
The closing lines, "let me crawl inside your ribs and fall asleep in there" and "I know you must be starving, so let your tongue run over my bones," are haunting and beautiful, evoking a desire for complete intimacy, even to the point of becoming one with the other person. The imagery of bones, ribs, and being consumed suggests a deep vulnerability and the idea of surrendering oneself fully to love.
Overall, this poem is a powerful exploration of desire, hunger, and the need for connection. The language is evocative, sensual, and intense, pulling the reader into the speaker’s overwhelming longing. The poem masterfully blends themes of love, lust, vulnerability, and power, creating a deeply emotional and resonant piece.

This poem is so intense!! I could feel the ache radiating from the words!! The visceral hunger in this poem is palpable. Like, you didn’t just write about desire; you embodied it. The first few lines immediately set the tone of insatiable need, which hooks me right away. That feeling of craving something that’s so much more than physical hunger is such a good comparison for love!! I've always been drawn to cannibalism metaphors, and this is a great example of one!!
You just immediately set the tone of this aching, gnawing need that’s so tangible. It pulled me right in, making me feel that emptiness right away as if I was there!! The way you shift from physical hunger to something deeper and more emotional / desirous is seamless and intense as well ~~ It's like you're starving for this connection. In a way, I guess you are!! You’ve taken passion and turned it into something that’s so consuming, it feels dangerous but deeply beautiful!!
!!! This is so physical, I love it!!
The word "consume" takes the passion and turns it up a notch to something almost feral, like there’s no boundary between wanting someone and needing to completely devour them!! It’s almost scary, but in a way that works with the content of the poem. This isn't some happy little narrative, but instead, it's something raw and almost hedonistic. I love how there is no real "line" of the imagery being too much because this is better unfiltered!! I can't imagine this would hit the same without those details.
Love, love, love this line!! This gives the poem a dynamic shift of power and tension that feels really charged. The rhythm here speeds up, almost like the tension in the poem is at a breaking point and it’s sososo perfect!! If anything, I think this is where the poem shines the most. It drifts away from that cannibalism I mentioned earlier and turns into a reflection of your relationship. It's less visceral and physical, but it's a good insight into the mindset of the narrator and the love interest. I think that's such a fun dynamic to write!! I wish I saw it more in poetry if I'm honest.
^^^ Though, the power dynamic is great, but the line right after it feels a bit softer in comparison. There’s a slight shift in tone there ~~ Like, it goes from commanding and fierce to something more vulnerable and a little clichéd. Maybe instead of saying you're pretty, you could find a phrase that carries the same intensity as the rest of the poem. Like a demand for recognition or admiration that matches the rawness of that mistress presence. It feels more random than anything for me.
Another thought: Since the overall tone is dark and sensual, have you considered leaning more into the primal nature of the relationship? I think you could add some more animalistic or feral language throughout to push it to another level!! Like, that would be intense, you know? It would be fitting for the theme!!
This is SUCH a good ending!!
It's savage but also reverent in a weird, haunting way. Like, this whole relationship is a mix of love, hunger, and devotion. I’m absolutely floored by the tension and fervor here!! The way you explore hunger and need through physical and emotional touch is so refreshing to me. The poem builds and builds, and I am so in love with the final result!! I haven't read a poem like this in a while. Amazing work!! ^_^
