My name is Payden and I don't need anyone.
No that's not right.
I am a man of the hour, no need for planning my life.
God, that sounds so stupid.
Truth is, I don't know who the fuck I am. I don't know what the fuck I want. Everybody seems to know exacly who they are and what they want to do in life. But all I know is my name.
My opinions change with the seasons.
There is no rhyme or reason.
I feel like I've convicted treason
Against myself
I've sampled love, but it wasn't enough.
The girl I fell for was just a metaphor
I begged her before, not to make this love a chore.
But need I say more? Our "love" is done for.
I looked in the mirror the other day.
But all I saw was a lost soul, screaming. Shrieking at me.
It was reaching out to me with it's lonely arms
It was crying, "Who are you?"
I couldn't possibly answer this heartbroken pnuema
So I simply turned around and walked out
After all, how could I help this crazed creature?
How could I possibly help myself?

No one truly knows how to find themselves. You said it yourself, simply looking in a mirror isn't enough. And although you feel like everyone else knows who they are and they seem to have plans for a future, NOTHING ends up as expected. These "people" who say they know what they are doing, and most likely lost in the infinate vastness that is the human mind.
The people who claim to have a path in life are probably going insane trying to figure out who the heck they are and why they're here. The truth to life and why humans are here isn't simple and can never really be explained. To me, life is about being selfless, caring, kind, compationate, brave, and gain as much knowledge as you can to share it with others.
After all, human life is only growing and advancing because as humans we tend to pass on what we know. We do it everyday. Life is about the persuit of knowledge and to continue to advance in science, literature, mathematics......and everything really.
And to go back to your previous statement, you won't be able to truly find yourself until you climb the highest mountains, swim across the longest oceans, and only then will you really know who you are. But do you want to find an easy way out?
There's a quote in spanish that goes like this:
Dime quien son tus amigos, y te dire quien eres.
Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who YOU are.
So...Mr. AceOfPayds. Who are you?
It seems like you're confused on what you're trying to right. It feels like a rap, but it doesn't rhyme. Is it spoken word?
I love what your trying to say, I also love your imagery. While your verses are kind of clunky and your flowing could use work, your theme is very consistent and elegantly straightforward. Great job
Yes! It felt like I was the only one dealing with this problem. Trying to get into something just to change within a year. Sucks. Especially when you got these distinct strengths that would make them good art, math, or anything else. I like the fact that is naturally flowing with itself.
Two things though. First, I am not a big fan of the intro. I understand you wanted to segue into the meat of the poem, but I find it cheesy. I would have just cut out the first two stanzas we still get the overall message. Also, with cutting out the two stanzas, it would make the poem stand out even more natural (something that really stands out in the poem).
I'm interested why there's two authors. Do you both feel this way? Was author just there to point out mistakes? Seeing that this created by two people would surprise me because sounds like there is one voice.
Good job being able to relate to me. I thought that this was a problem I only had.
Hi Ace,
It's hard to properly review poems because it all depends on whether the subject matter can connect with you, and I understand this piece very much. I love the way that it feels chaotic, it rhymes now and then, it's structure is all over the place and intentional or not I think that's the best way. This character [you or otherwise] are lost, you don't know what the hell is going on so why would you care about the structure of your words. It pours out onto the page and it feels that way. When I write poetry I don't edit, I don't overthink it. It comes directly from the heart. This piece feels that way.
I really enjoyed it and hope to read more of your work.

Awesome. It's great to meet someone who has yet to find out who they are. Sometimes I find it hard to relate to people with my disastrous demeanor. Thank you for your review!
We're all trying to find who we really are. Sometimes it's the smallest things that point us in the right direction.
this is absolutely amazing
