This poem is based off of the famous novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It is about a dystopian future where books are banned and burned by firemen. This poem is a reflection on how the country feels about books (more specifically the fire chief Captain Beatty). If you have not read this book I highly recommend it!
Snap.
Crackle.
Hiss.
The pages curl in blackened defeat,
the fire growing hungrier
as its newest adversary surrenders.
The spine still reads in golden splendor
A Tale of Two Cities
A story for a much more stressful world.
No more paupers
or princes.
Just parlor walls
and burning books.
That's all we'll ever need to stay happy here.

Hey Milanimo, Strange here and I have a review for you! First off, great job during the Review Day.
451 is easily one of the best books I've ever read. This is a great poem relating to it, especially the references to it. The first part, where you are describing books burning, is well done. You describe the papers of course being burnt but with the spine still in tact. A reference to a book taken, this is well written. You don't dive into full blown detail, as most poems don't need. I like how this is directed towards Beatty, the antagonist of the novel. The best part is the punch, which is the last three lines.
That hit it off for me, especially the last line. Emphasizing the antagonist's view of what should be right and what should be wrong.
Overall, great job.

Beautiful poem! I have never read Fahrenheit 451, but I have heard of it. I love this poem and the descriptiveness of it! I especially like the part where you described the book burning. I really got the image in my head of that book being burnt to ashes. Overall, this poem has sparked my interest and I am DEFINITELY going to find Fahrenheit 451 to read now!
