Book 1 stuff

I worked on finishing one of the unfinished chapters from Book 1... "The Death of the Lady."

When Archondid saw Solea, he stood up and blinked, his red eyes glowing in the darkness. “Solea?” he asked uncertainly. “Why are you here? Is everything all right?”

Solea gritted her teeth. Even if she wanted to, she couldn't hide from him. Black Swans could see in total darkness. “Everything is fine,” she whispered, glancing at the headmistress's door nervously and hoping she wouldn't wake up. “I’ve just come to talk with Alainna.”

Archondid stared at her. “Now?”

“She asked me to come whenever I was finished.”

“Finished with what?” Archondid asked, bewildered. Then, when Solea hesitated, he narrowed his eyes. “Is she making you do her homework again?”

Solea blushed and hid the letter behind her back, hoping desperately that Archondid wouldn't notice. “Everything is fine! Alainna just had Lady business she wanted help with, that's all!”

“Lady business?” Archondid asked, sounding even more suspicious. Then, before Solea could stop him, he stepped forward and snatched the translated letter away. “As I thought! It is homework!” Then he read through it, paled, and looked up. “How did you get this?”

It's not all the way finished, but it's definitely close. >.>

Book 4 Stuff

OKAY. So I haven't gotten to the monologue part yet... well, okay, maybe there's a little monologuing, but TRUST ME. There is going to be so much more, haha.

Instead, it's this really action-packed sequence which is just crazy. Lots of things are happening. SO MANY THINGS.

Out of context line:

"And now it’s time for the wedding feast – and I am very hungry!”

That quote… food is always the entire reason I endure going to weddings
(I’m only kidding lol)

The food is literally the only thing this character is looking forward to as well. XD

OMG. I wrote so much yesterday (about a thousand words) and figured out how to make the storyline more balanced, haha.

Like before the climax was like:

- Worse
- Worser
- Worstest
- OMG how is it getting worse?
- You know what, I am just going to give up now this sucks

So now the climax is more like

- This is the worse
- Actually, maybe there's hope?
- HAHAHA NO.
- WAIT NO STOP! MAYBE THERE IS HOPE???
- ...of course that wasn't going to work.
- OH. BUT THIS **HAS** TO WORK.
- WHY DIDN'T THAT WORK???

So like. Now there is total whiplash instead of outright despair. XD

I also filled some plotholes. :3

I'm still THICK in the climax. There is a lot of action going on right now. It is still very crazy. BUT. If I squint, I see the end. Like, the reader wouldn't see it. But *I* see it! So I am getting excited. :3

Out of context line:

“I want the cup! Pass me the cup!”

...today is LSS, of course, and our group has written a total of 0 words this week so far, sooooo I might be working on that instead. XD But! I do want to write more because yessssss so close.

How much you can write in a day is really inspiring!!

Um... I fixed one plothole yesterday, only to realize today that my fix doesn't actually... work??? So I need to change some things today. xD

The motive is not through anything gimmicky, but rather just pure desperation, haha.

The character actually needs to be very dead at the moment of reckoning. Otherwise, it doesn't work.

Bad news! I threw out my back. I feel awful.

Good news! I can sit up. And type. But like... that's about it. I can't even pick up a child. >.> Maybe I can see how much I can write seeing as I can't do much else???

Right now, there is currently UTTER CHAOS in the story. I hope nobody expected a romantic wedding in which everything goes perfectly, because it is NOT that. IT IS MADNESS.

Thank you! I feel slightly better today, but better = not panting out in pain while doing a slow crab walk across the floor, so... well... things are relative. XD

LOTS was written yesterday, LOTS. I closed up all the plotholes that I previously was grumpy about. More action scenes were written. In my opinion, my writing is GRIPPING. There are so many plot twists that it's enough to give you whiplash. It is an epic wedding scene in every respect.

I am at the LAST MAJOR ACTION SCENE!!! So, while I am *probably* not going to finish the chapter like I hoped, since several things need to be resolved still, the action scenes will probably be finished!

After finishing the last chapter before this one, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make it exciting enough so that the story would end on a boring note. (Weirdly enough, this is the fear that I've always had... I kind of stink at endings, so actually finishing a novel makes me nervous because what if I fail???) Like, after four books hinting at a wedding... what if it turns out to be a disappointment???

Anyway, I think it is okay? Though, I'm sure people who are reading the first draft of the series will let me know if they are grumpy at the conclusion. XD

Enough chattering! It's time to finish an action scene.

AND IT'S AUGUST! Time for me to take my progress updates back to my club, where they belong. XD

Uh... did I win???

1) Finish the last chapter in Book 4. (Which, happily enough, means that I will finish my first draft of my first series, yayyyyy!)

No... BUT I AM SO CLOSE. *flails*

2) Finish the first chapter of Book 1 that I decided to totally redo. (Basically, the scene where Alainna and Solea are arguing because Alainna wants Solea to do her homework and Solea is just DONE.)

...I reread it and added a couple words. But no. XD

3) Finish the brand new chapter of Book 1 (started last camp nano) where Archondid and Solea have a midnight chat.

I worked on it... but also no. XD

Anyway! Book 4 is reeeeeally close. I haven't quite finished the action scene, BUT. It's almost done! If I work on it (will I have time to work on it???) I might be able to finish it in a couple of days!!!! But also, vacation is in August, so who knows?

I probably wrote about 20K this month, though I only kept about... 7300 words, judging by what I have. XD

Next nano, I am NOT working on Swans. XD By then, the Swans project will be fully in the editing stage since this series will be DONE.

Instead, it will just purely be Golden Mermaid. Which, honestly, might be the easier book to publish, if I am completely honest with myself, since it's a pure fairytale retelling and not a brand new fantasy world and only one book. XD And, let's face it, there's agents actively looking for fairytale retellings.

Anyway! Thanks for cheering me on and encouraging me.

Yay! I'm a little bit nervous because I see soooo much that needs to be redone, now that I have a clearer vision of the story in all its complete glory. I can like... give you a list of planned edits for each novel, haha. (For one, as soon as your read Alainna in the first chapter, you're going to be like, "That Alainna seems too ditzy compared to the Alainna that I know and love"... WHICH IS 100% CORRECT.) But also, you suffered through that draft before, so oh well. XD

Just note that some of the chapters might be... a little torn apart. And things are going to change. xD

I doubt I'll be disappointed at the conclusion, though I'll be sure to bill you any medical costs from the whiplash... jkjk, I'll enjoy them like a good, mostly safe minecart ride =P

BAHAHAH I see your reference... omg, that is still one of my favorite scenes in the series.
