NaPoWeek Event - Exquisite Corpse Poetry

Image

In honor of NaPoWeek: calling one and all for an exquisite corpse poetry event!! For those of you who've never done an exquisite corpse event before, it's quite simple in nature! It's a collaborative creative exercise where one person starts by creating something (in this case, the start of a poem). Then, with only knowing the end part of the original poem, the next person in line has to continue it. In the end, you end up with a sometimes nonsensical, sometimes quite funny, sometimes surprisingly profound creation. Since this NaPoWeek focuses on some more ~spooky~ topics, think of it as almost creating a Frankenstein poem!

How will this work?

To participate, simply reply expressing interest! As soon as you sign up, feel free to PM me up to anywhere between 2 and 6 lines of poetry (Ideally more than one, otherwise the exercise wouldn't have a point!) They can be about anything as long as it's YWS-appropriate. After the first round deadline is up, you'll receive a PM from me with your prompt (the last poetic line of someone else's entry) and it'll be up to you to continue from there! Again, I'm only looking for 2 to 6 lines. After all the rounds have been completed, I'll post the final products to the thread!! I'm so excited to see what you all will come up with!!

Schedule

Times are adjusted to your local time zone!

Sign-up deadline:
First round deadline:
Second round deadline:
Third round deadline:

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the thread below!!

@Plume
It shows an error when I try to PM you. Can I send it once it's fixed, or by some other means?

@Phillauthet I’d recommend trying again just to see if it’s working, but if it’s not, you could always simply post it in a spoiler on my wall or in this thread! As long as you get it in before the deadline!

Round one deadline has officially passed!! I sent out PMs including the lines you'll be working with for round two; let me know if you didn't get one/if you have problems accessing it/if I accidentally sent you your own lines. Feel free to reply to the PM with your continuing lines; you can go a little longer than 2-6 lines if you wish, but since there is another round, I would like to keep the additions on the shorter side just so the poems don't get too long. All of you had some great lines to send me, and I'm super excited to see how these will turn out! Reminder to get your continuing lines in by !

I want everyone to participate, so given the fact that not everyone has sent me their continued poem lines, I’ve decided to push the deadline back to . I’ll also push the deadline for the the third round to a day later, so . Hope that works for everyone!! Feel free to PM/post in this thread if you have any questions!
