I've been wanting to share some of my art on here again, and then I realized I haven't shared any in like six years!
Anyway, that's mainly what I do with my time lately: paint. And it's something I've realized I want to spend a lot of my time in the future doing as well! I do watercolour paintings and acrylic paintings, and mixed media.
I've actually got some of my art in a little art gallery fundraiser show- which is super cool, it's my first time having my art in a show (besides like, entering my art into local fairs when I was a teen)!
Andddd I haven't posted images on here for awhile, so hopefully this works.
The landscape is done with acrylic paint on a canvas board!! I really love how it turned out and I want to do more landscapes like this!! I did this with a photo I took as a reference- but I really want to do some plein air art!! Though I'm not sure I'll get myself out to do that in winter, but we'll see. Maybe on a warmer day!
And the other picture is just from one of my sketchbooks that I finished!
The landscape paintings are from photos I've taken, and I have a lot of fun adding colours that aren't necessarily there. I'm hoping to scan them and get some postcards made up from them, because I think that would be really cool, and there's a little cafe/art gallery where I've sold a couple (literally 2) crochet bags, so I might see if I can display the postcards for sale there! C: but I have one more of these landscape paintings I'm working on, and after that's done I think I'll get my butt in gear and try to do that!
Andddd the colorful faces mixed media art I did just in the last few days! I did the warmer toned one on Friday and I loved it so much that I did another yesterday! I want to do somemore but we'll see if that happens. I also want to put these for sale at the cafe/art gallery- but I need to flatten them more somehow and frame them (I don't think I have any frames big enough for them, so I might have to get them). Plus the ladies at the art group I go to really loved these ones, so I might try to make some prints of them, so maybe more people can enjoy them!

I really like the moth one but I feel like there not enough light tones or something- I've been really trying to learn values but just kind of... by intuition. I should probably actually try to learn values from artists that actually know values. So I guess that's something I'll do, since it just occurred to me right now that that would probably be easier than ramming my head into a wall!
The still life of the spider plant and little red watering can I just painted today! I love how it turned out! I used himi gouache which I got a year ago for my birthday! I haven't used gouache very much- I kind of got intimidated by it. But I've been using watercolours a lot and I've found that what I've learnt with watercolours, is also really helping with gouache! I love that about art- you get better at one thing and some of that knowledge is transferable (so sometimes it's still confusing and frustrating switching to a medium you don't know/use. But I'm thankfully more in a playful way when I approach a new medium).

I especially adore the still life!! Carving out the shapes of the leaves by painting the background, yesss <3

The fish (it's supposed to be a brook trout) I painted yesterday, and made it into a card for my dad for Father's day! We're going to go fishing on Father's day which is always fun!
The owl is for my sister because she loves owls so I think she'll like it! I need to frame it though.
The canvases are WIPs right now, working in acrylic.
And then there's a couple sketches from my sketchbook. I've found adding colour and different media to my sketchbooks really really makes it a lot more fun and enjoyable to work in! And it makes it fun to look back through my sketchbooks.
Also I rescued some wooden cabinet doors from the dumpster (they were outside the dumpster) which I'm in the process of cleaning up, taking the hardware off of, and sanding them to do some paintings on because canvases aren't cheap and y'know: reduce, reuse, recycle! Hopefully I'll be able to show off some paintings on those soon!
I did some abstract art that was super fun and freeing, which ultimately led me to painting the colorful portraits which I ripped/cut into quarters so I could mix and match them!!! Mixing them up and seeing which ones look best together is so fun. I've only done four of those portraits and there's already so many combinations!! I'll probably do more, cause I really enjoy them.
The simple forget-me-nots painting is a wedding card I painted yesterday for my cousin's wedding which is this weekend!
The bird (I think it was some sort of meadow lark- I can't remember) I like quite a bit, but I may go over it with some more thicker brighter colors, because it seems a little too defused to me. We'll see though!
