What They Call Us

Kei

"Sooth says he will protect me. Ronan left me. Sooth is the only one who will protect me," I say sadly.

"Kei! Stop talking nonsense. Why would Ronan leave you?" she asked me.

"He did," I say and crawl into my bed. I pulled the dagger out of the bunny and played with it, sighing.

Sorry for not posting sooner, I have a SAT tomorrow. I compromised by making this extra long.

I noticed Sol kinda disappeared along the way. Is it okay if Gem and Ronan stay with her for the time being? Or she with them. However it is.

Solstice

I returned to my room, my head hurting. I'd gone after Rona and Gem - after Ongrid cleared the guards' memories of Sooth. I found them in their room, Ronan with silent tears running down his face, and Gem trying desperately to comfort him. He looked at me and asked "Why? Why Kei? He's so little - so young."

Unbeknownst to me, Lacie was also being turned against us. Without hesitating another moment, I whirled around and headed for the guards. I approached a tall one, snarling. "Where did you guys put the little kid?" I asked, angry. She didn't reply, her eyes away from me.

I realized that none of the guards would tell me, so I decided to play a little trick. I concentrated on the image of a guard I had downed just a short while ago. When I opened my eyes, a shimmery curtain separated me from the rest of the world. I knew what had happened of course, Around me was an illusion, covering me and protecting me, of a guard. I could see through it, being on the inside, but no one else could. All they would see, touch or hear would be one of them.

I walked upto the same guard and said,"Hey, I want to know where we put the small boy. Sooth's asking for him again. He expressly mentioned that I should go get him."
She looked at me suspiciously and asked,"Why can't I go?"
"Be-cause I've got powers that ward his abilities. Yeah, that's why. It's just a precaution, you know."

She still looked slightly unconvinced, but she pointed me to the luxury apartments anyways. I hurried there, taking care to ensure that I didn't let my cover slip - my one fault was my inability to concentrate.

I found the room, stopping in shock when the door swung open. Kei was there, but so was - "Lacie? What are you doing here? Gem was so worried. She requested Snow to go find you. And Kei - your brother's sobbing his heart out in his room - what on Earth happened with you two?"

Lacie

Sol walks in and I stand, swallowing. "Leave, just leave." I say pushing her out. She looks at me weirdly.

"What are you talking about?" She asks. Grabbing my rists. The venom kicks in and my eyes turn yellow again.

"GO." I repeat again, vines making their way in.

I yank out of her grasp and vines wrap around my rists, poision ivy so she wouldn't touch me again.

Kei

The swung open and Sol walked in.

"Lacie? What are you doing here? Gem was so worried. She requested Snow to go find you. And Kei - your brother's sobbing his heart out in his room - what on Earth happened with you two?" She started asking us.

"Ronan left me. I'm staying with Sooth, cause he said he will protect me," I said.

"Leave, just leave." Lacie said pushing her out.

I hid behind Lacie, knowing her and Sooth would protect me.

Gemini Lazarus

Sol finally comes back after a time, and the look on her face was enough to tell me something was wrong. She told us of how Lacie had pushed Sol away even tho we were the best of friends, I hated to do this. But I got out one of the scetch's I made in the recent days. And showed it to Sol.

"Can you make this two handed sword real?" I asked.

Roe

I must have dozed off in the snow. Luckily, I was in the lee of the building. I woke up and, noticing that Sooth's office was empty, I hurried back to the dining hall. I walked to the table where I had left Ingrid.

Her plate of food was only half-eaten. I looked around. Ingrid was nowhere in sight. "Where's Ingrid?" I said, starting to panic a little. I tried not to project the emotion onto anyone else as I ran out of the room into the dormitory hall. She wasn't in our room. I went back into the hall, trying to think who she could be with. The door to Gemini's room was open, and she, the new guy, and Solstice were sitting on the cots.

"Has anyone seen Ingrid?" I asked, jittery with anxiety. Then I noticed that the new guy was crying. "Oh no," I said, perching next to him on the bed. "Sooth's got the little boy, hasn't he?" I asked Sol and Gem. I put my arm around the new guy's shoulders, projecting some calm feelings his way.

Solstice

"Can you make this two handed sword real?" Gem asked me. I told both her and Ronan what had happened just before Roe had come in. She'd managed to calm him down, and then returned on her search for Ingrid. Ronan on the other hand was lost in thought, a hard look on his face.

I looked down at the sword sketched by my best friend and looked back at her.
A pair of determined eyes looked back at me. I swallowed and replied, "Sure. Give me a minute, and some quiet. I won't guarantee the sharpness of the blade though. I've never really had much luck with them."

I looked back at the drawing and visualized it. The sword was incredibly detailed, and it would probably need all my skill to create it. She'd drawn the hilt so that it appeared to have been bound with red string, with a silver grip halfway down the handle, and a silver half-guard which extended partly into the blade, pointing in and decorated with a pattern of vines made in blackened metal. Both sides of the blade were sharp, with the back curving like a snake over the single half of the guard.

It was easy enough to picture it. The concentration and energy required in creating it however, were a different story. It was nearly impossible to keep thinking about the sword till it was complete, but I managed to maintain my concentration.
Once it was done I handed it to Gem, who took it and smiled. "I guess I worried needlessly about the blade - this thing could cut through rhino hide."
"Thanks Sol. I bet your baby will be born this way too." she said, knowing my cynicism when it came to love. "Even with all my powers, there are some things I cannot do. Only God can create life - I would have to go through the regular procedure if I wanted a child." I replied, laughing. Then, my vision faded and I collapsed.

Ingrid
Heat washed over me as I slept, smoke filling the room. It's blackness burned, filled my lungs, set my body on fire. But it was the screams that woke me. The piercing, immobilizing, inhuman sounding screams I knew belonged to my parents. I awoke with a start, sweat drenched, and horrified.

"Mommy!!!" I screamed, only to get a mouth full of smoke. A roaring cough attack siezed me, and my breathing became quick, tight, and desperate.

I ran for the door, throwing it open, only to be welcomed by flames. The flames quickly consumed my room. I had no choice. I had to run through them to get out of them. As I ran, hearing my parents' screams, I worked quickly, replacing their last minutes with happy memories. I tore down the menories of this and replaced them with happy ones, up until the moment I could no longer find their memories. They were gone.

I tore out of the front door, flames consuming me, licking my skin, taking my flesh greedily.

My eyes snapped open, and my scream pierced the room. I'm on fire! I'm burning! I nolted from the sweat drenched bed and out the door, running outside in only my nightgown, burrying myself in snow. I fell asleep

My wet hair clung to my face, my soaked nightgown hung heavily. My jaw chattered. The cold was in my bones. Snow melted on my skin and the watter dripped off of me. There was a numbness within me, to my bones, that immobilized me. I couldn't feel a thing. A scream shattered the early morning sky, and I felt warm hands touch me, almost burn me, and pull me out of the snow.

All I could say as my teeth chattered was, "I'm t-t-the only o-one who c-can't-t-t forget." I pointed at my scarred body, "Even if-f I-i-i t-tried-d"

Gemini Lazarus

I placed my sword down and grabbed Sol as she fell unconceious. She was going to stay with me tonight. I placed her down on my bed and covered her in my blanket's to let her sleep, I looked at my new blade that Sol had made, and tested it and to my luck the edge was sharp. I moved the bed as I placed the blade underneath to hide it in the case guards ever came in here. I sat on the floor facing the door as nightfall came, Ronan was still up but still with a worried look on his face. I felt bad for the guy, I knew what it was like to loss the only family you had left.

"Don't worry, we'll get Kei back, one way or another." I said.

Lacie

I fall asleep, Kei by my side, wanting to be protected. I wake and stand, yawning. I still fell the venom seeping through my veins and I chuckle at the delight. Ivy slithered up my arm and wrapped himself around it.

I smiled and opened the door, walking outside. I walk to where breakfast was, brushing my hair with my fingers and my eyes turning back to yellow from the yellow. I get to where everyone else was at breakfast and flashed a wide smile.

"Hey! What's up!" I ask laughing, feeling a little high.

Kei

I went to sleep next to Lacie, but when I woke up, she was gone. Tears came to my eyes, thinking she left me alone. I saw a note that said she went for breakfast. I ran outside, and tried to remember where breakfast was. I saw a guard and stopped in front of her.

"Do you know where breakfast is?" I asked. She pointed west and then ignored me. I ran there and saw Lacie.

"Lacie!" I shouted stopping next to her. She looked down at me. "I thought you left me alone..." I started to say.

*coughs* ^^^^

Ronan

The girls stay in the room, comforting me. Sol fabricates a sword for Gemini and Roe keeps an arm around me, lightening my mood a little. My thoughts revolve around Kei. How could he do something like that? Why? How could he think I-I couldn't protect him? W-what the hell have I been doing since we left home then?

Morning comes and I numbly follow them outside, my eyes automatically scanning for my little brother. A girl has passed out in the snow and Sol and Gem go to tend to her as I find Kei with Lacie. My throat tightening at the sight, I rush to him and drop at his front.

"K-Kei, they didn't hurt you, did they?" I ask, trying to hug him. "W-why did you leave me like that? Why did you trade me in? I-I'm your family. You don't trade in family."

Kei

Ronan appears in front of me. "K-Kei, they didn't hurt you, did they?" Ronan ask, trying to hug me. "W-why did you leave me like that? Why did you trade me in? I-I'm your family. You don't trade in family."


"Y-y-you left me," I cry falling into his hug.

"No! I never did! Please, just come back with me," he begs. Something in my head switched over and my sorta glazed eyes clear.

"Big Brother? Where am I?" I ask confused looking around.

Ronan

"Big Brother? Where am I?" He asks, looking around.

I hold him tightly and take his face in my one hand, making him look at me.

"It's alright," I tell him, "They tried to take you from me. You didn't know what you were doing. But I've got you now. I need you to stay close though. I-I don't want it happening again."

I wipe his tears and squeeze him in a hug before scooping him up and beginning to walk from Lacie.
