Hunter~

Hunter went white when the lion stood on her back legs, resting her front paws on his chest and taking in his and Bailey's scent. "That's fine with me," the wolf, Rook, sighed, shooting a glance at both of the humans. The white lion opened her jaws, taking in a deeper breath for more scent. Hunter swallowed hard, Bailey giving him a warning glance. A bead of sweat formed on his brow as he stood up, strong as he could. His fingers twitched to grab the machete, but he didn't push his luck, as it was in the middle of the group of huge animals.

"Hello." Hunter finally spoke, staring into the lion's eyes after it pressed its cold, huffing nose to his cheek. It snorted and pushed off, making Hunter stumble back slightly. She turned, her tail swaying as she sat down beside another animal.

"Alright, I agree with you all... they can stay." She nodded, her eyes studying Bailey and Hunter all over again.

I grinned. "Come along now Thumbs. Don't give me a reason to fight back," I said in a soothing voice. Soothing and mocking to be more accurate. I really despised them already, but it was against my nature to kill for no reason.

The boy gulped. "Where are we going?"

"Yeah, where are we going?" Jake asked, tail wagging.

I sighed loudly, showing my exasperation clearly. "Not here. We need to find a place where we can keep track of them don't we?" My tail twitched in agitation. I really wasn't in the mood for an interogation right now.

BAILEY

They started walking off, Jake right in front of us. I pulled myself off the ground and clung to hunter. I noticed a bear trap not far from where they were walking, Jake was going to walk right into it. I gasped, no one else saw it, and that would hurt him. I looked up to hunter, unable to find words. I didn't think, I just acted, i quickly stepped in front of him. He growled, and i stumbled back, stepping into the trap. I screamed as it closed around my leg. I looked up at a shocked hunter, and Jake. I grabbed my leg and sobbed.
"Get it off! Get it off hunter!" I knew screaming wouldn't help, but it hurt to much to stop.

JAKE

We started off, the thumb girl obviously scared. I kept close, in case they tried anything funny. She seemed to be shocked beyond belief, i snickered. When the thumbs first came here they were this shocked to hear us talk. Hunter, the male thumb, watched us, unsure what to do. I wondered if the girl was his mate... if so separating them could cause him to get violent. The girl stepped in front of me. I growled lowly in annoyance, then i saw it. A thumb trap. She stumbled back into it, immediately falling over, screaming and clutching her leg. did she, just save me?

The girl-thumb shrieked and I pinned my ears back against the noise. "Could you ple-" I turned and stopped talking when I saw what had happened. "And this is what happens when you Thumbs set traps for us!" I glared at the boy, who looked panicked. "You best help her. I can't get it off."

The boy-thumb blinked at me before turning to his friend.

"What happened?" I asked Jake.

He stared at me, a confused expression on his face. "I think...I think she just saved me...."

I stared, dumbstruck. Maybe the younger Thumbs weren't so bad. It was their elders we needed to keep an eye on.

Hunter~

Hunter paled as the scene before him seemed to go in slow motion. Bailey stepped around the huge black dog, and right into the trap. She screamed, begging Hunter to get it off of her. Hunter, ignoring the spazzed animals around him, dropped down to his knees, shushing Bailey as he grabbed a long dagger from his boot. "Shh, I'll get it Bails, shh just calm down. I know it hurts." He breathed softly passed her ear, leaning down and gently moving her foot. She screamed again.

Hunter ripped his sleeves off, wrapping the fabric of one of them tightly around her calf as a turnequete. The animals were all watching intently. He slid the dagger inbetween the teeth of the trap, prying it open. Bailey just screamed loudly. One of the dogs, Grace, slapped her tail against Bailey's mouth, her screams muffled. "Thank you." Hunter coughed, counting to three silently and yanked the trap apart, sliding it away from Bailey slowly.

The teeth dug into Hunter's fingers but he ignored it, letting the trap go altogether, the trap snappping together wickedly. All the animals were pretty much silent. Hunter took Bailey's bloody ankle in his hands, wrapping it up with the other sleeve. "Where's the closest river? That trap was rusty, and I really need to wash Bailey's wound out so it doesn't get infected."

I licked Baileys wound a few times cleaning it the best I could. "Follow me." I said coolly. We made it too a beautiful clear stream and I couldn't help feel worried for her.
"You are without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me."

So I'd been following them along, at a respectful distance of course. I didn't like the idea that the Thumbs would be able to recognize all of us, especially if they turned out to be bad news afterall.

These two didn't seem horrible. Just...naive? Yeah, that was it. They didn't seem to realize how much danger they were in: from us, from their own kind. Maybe they just didn't care. The little one certainly didn't hesitate to save Jake, and although I was tempted to view it as something manipulative, I recognized the sacrifice.

I made up my mind and moved closer to the group, slowing slightly but keeping low to the ground. We were going to the stream, I guess, and I brought up a rear guard on the two thumbs. Bailey was limping painfully, half-supported by her friend--whatever his name was. I certainly wasn't going to trust them. I'd seen the metal thing the boy was holding, and Grace had certainly seen the wrong end of one of their games.

I moved up to the other side of Baily. "Put a hand on my back and take some weight off your foot," I ordered cooly.

Baily hesitated, but did as she was told. Good little girl she was. We followed Raven, moving along at a rather sluggish pace. I was getting irritable. I wanted back to relaxing in the sun, away from all of these infernal beasts. I was one to be feared and avioded, not crowded like this.

"Why would you save one of our kind?" I asked curiously, glancing up at Baily. Well, more like glaring, but oh well. She was young, was I being to harsh? Damned maternal instincts... I thought to myself. Yes, I would have to blame it on them.

"Because, no one deserves that. Your kind or not. If my kind wasn't being so stupid and actually tried to get along with your kind, then maybe you would have done the same for me." I didn't look down at her, instead i looked over at jake, he seemed to be processing that. I looked up to hunter. He was concentrating on my ankle. I wished my kind never discovered this planet. The animal people wouldn't be suffering right now.

JAKE

"Because, no one deserves that. Your kind or not. If my kind wasn't being so stupid and actually tried to get along with your kind, then maybe you would have done the same for me." Would i have? That was a good way of thinking of it. I could see the stream coming into view. I looked up at her, she was looking at me. My kind must be interesting to her, thumbs were pretty interesting themselves. The male helped her sit beside the stream. She winced when he took of the strange material off her foot. Thumb's wore strange materials all the time. But why? She winced and whimpered when he put it in the stream. I actually felt, bad for her...

I stared in amazement at Bailey shocked into silence. I felt bad for her I knew how bad the Thumbs traps hurt. I hesitated only briefly but then I laid my head on Bailey's shoulder comfortingly.

Grace

Grace sat down next to Jake, who was watching the Thumbs closely, eyes filled with wonder. Rook was shaking his head side to side as he conversed with the male, his eyes full of knowledge. Grace lied down, watching as the male thumb re-wrapped the female's ankle, which he'd cleaned up pretty good and also stopped the gushing blood. Jake's ears laid flat as he watched, transfixed. Grace sighed and finally stood, noticing they were out of the creek.

Her pelt hot, she stepped into the ice cold water, sloshing around for a little bit to cool down. "Anyone want to join?" She offered playfully, splashing some water this her thin snout.

I contemplated the water and decided what the heck and jumped in. I swam around grateful for the icy waters. I got out of the water and collapsed in the sun happy. I noticed the thumbs looking at me strangely. "What?" I asked curiously. "I thought panther's didn't like to swim." Hunter said almost uncertainly. I grinned at him. "We aren't the biggest fans of it but it's nice to cool off." I said still laying down.

I don't think I'm able to keep up with this..... Sorry.

I wasn't sure if I would have saved the Thumb. She seemed pretty certain that our kinds could get along. Who knows, I suppose. But I doubted it.

Grace jumped in the water, and I followed quickly after, happy for the diversion and happier for a way to cool off. I dunked my head and began to leap through the shallow stream, splashing and yipping and feeling the rocks beneath my paws. Someone needed to lighten the mood!
