LAKISHA

I sighed and looked around. Everybody seemed to be indulging in some kind of conversation. Whatever, like it matterd. I was dead bored. Dead bored and cooped up with a bunch of giggling teenagers. I smirked. I hadn't used my powers in a few days, except for the snake incident of course, so I could probably create quite the illusion.

I began to think, rolling onto my stomach and propping my chin up with my hand. What would really set the room into a wild frenzy? Gunshots perhaps? I chuckled and recieved a few skeptic glances. Let them stare. Or maybe I could create some giant man-eating lion in the middle of the room... I abandoned that idea quickly. They'd probably catch on.

Maybe a random hot guy with no shirt on kissing a hot girl in a skimpy dress? That would be...random. I snickered and received a new cast of stares. That was me, the creepy, snake-loving anti-social chick with the scar.

I kept thinking. There had to be something I could do. What to do? What to do? There were so many tangable options and so little energy. I could mess with Kalayan. Or Cain. Or anybody here for that matter... I sighed again.

My sigh vanished and turned into a grin. I'd go with the gunshots. Less energy anyways. I focused for a moment before filling the air with explosions and gunshots from who-knows-what. Bazookas, rifles, machine guns... I didn't stop until I had everybody in the room screaming bloody murder. Sooner or later Kalayan caught on.

"You little twit! Knock it off!" He shouted.

I started laughing and let the noises cease to exist. Everybody was glaring at me now. I smirked.

Adam

I glanced around the room absentmindedly, watching everybody gnaw at their food. I didn't know anybody, and the two girls I sat with simply stared at me, wide-eyed with curiosity. I didn't take it that they knew each other very well either, as they didn't talk very much, just the occasional polite smile and compliment.

Rearing my head, I scanned all the other children, observing the girl to boy ratio, how old everybody seemed to be, what they were doing. A young girl was sprawled about lazily on a nearby couch, looking like an interesting person to talk to. It didn't seem like she needed other people to keep her company, and she was satisfied with being alone. I liked those kind of people, those who didn't need the constant approval of others. The girl named Stella glanced over at me, but I ignored her. She seemed to be boring. Nice, but boring. I contemplated approaching the lone girl, but before I could, gun shots were heard throughout the lunchroom.

Under the table seemed like a nice place to be. Swiftly I got down on my knees, slipping under there with the two other girls, the tweenybopper already crying her little heart out, her fingers rubbing away her runny mascara. I looked around the room, with nobody to be found shooting, although the girl on the couch seemed to be having a grand old time. A boy on the other side of the room who had previously been terrified donned an annoyed expression. "You little twit! Knock it off!" He shouted. All these kids, having special abilities.. they obviously don't hold any responsibility for them. It's likely that I'm here, that we're all here, because of people like her.

I decided to make my acquantince anyhow. Strolling over, she stretched her neck across the arm of the couch to see who was approaching her. Wordlessly I dropped into the seat beside her, and she looked at me quizzically, her head cocked slightly to the side. I made eye contact with her and smirked, raising one eyebrow. She copied me and raised one eyebrow as well, in jest. Her petite fingers cluctched a red steak that dripped blood along the dark fabric of the couch, and with the wave of my hand, I wiped a couple of drops of blood away mid-fall. They noticeably traveled across the room. Her curious expression turned into a large, interested grin, and suddenly the drops of blood, bigger than before, flew back to me, getting bigger and bigger as they approached, nearly drenching my clothes with an obnoxious splash. Horrified, I looked at her, my face, hands and body stained with cow blood. Wonderful.

And suddenly it was gone, and she was laughing hysterically. "Touché," I whispered. I leaped up from the couch, surprising her, and raised one arm high, a large, blue vase rising with it. Her eyes widened, I pretended to chuckle maliciously, and I harshly waved my hand, the vase flying toward her head. Squeaking, she ducked, only to have it stop short, hovering above her.

"Aren't you hilarious," she snorted, carefully sitting back up. "Funny." I flew back onto the couch, my legs rising up into the air as I landed. Crossing my arms, I rested my feet on a nearby coffee table and leaned back my head to look at the girl. Cute. Small. Mischevious. I wondered if she was worth the time. She rests her chin on her interwined fingers, blinking innocently. "So what's your name?"

LAKISHA

I stared at they boy, throughly ammused. I had a feeling we would be getting along just great. "Lakisha," I murmered. "And yours?"

He grinned at me. "Adam," he replied. I thought he winked at me, but I couldn't be sure.

"A complete and total honour to meet you my dear." I grinned. Well then, somebody I might actually get along with.

He stared at me skepticaly, a stupid grin spreading across his face. I stroked Claw absently, grinning back.

Why in the world did Lakisha like illusions so much? It was driving me nuts. I turned towards Eli. "At least it wasn't a snake this time," I said with a shrug.

Well this silence isn't akward or anything. Adam, Astri, and I were sitting on the couch, still eating. Come on where's the life people? Almost like someone could read my mind gunshots went off. I tossed my plate aside and crouched down behind the couch. Astri had run off, probably to find other protection. I don't blame her, it was pretty crouded back here. I peeked around the edge of the couch and saw Lakisha sitting there calmly. What the.... was she seriously laughing? I then I remembered the incident in the van, with Kayalan and the snake. I found myself laughing and recieving funny looks from the people sharing my hiding spot.

The shots stopped and I was going to go and talk to Lakisha, compliment her on the awesome prank, I wish my gift was useful like that. Adam was sitting near her, they were talking. They both looked like they were enjoying themselves, which seemed like it was going to be a rare thing around here. I decided I better not disrupt it. Instead I sat down in a comfy looking chair, how long am I going to be here for?

Okay, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?

First, the mysterious snake, now gunshots coming from nowhere? It all seemed to be coming from one girl, so I peeked out from under the table and watched as Adam and the girl (I think her name's Lakisha) started conjuring up blood and throwing vases at each other without even touching them!! They were... magic. Or something. I wondered, was I magic too? Is that why I was brought here?

Suddenly, a loud siren interrupted my thoughts, followed by a man speaking over an intercom I hadn't noticed in the corner of the room, "Meal Time and Social Time is now over. Please make your way to your rooms for Rest Time. We will wake you at dawn, thank you."

Everybody groaned and started to mutter to each other, probably about the injustice of being treated like a child again, although I didn't mind too much. If anything I was grateful that I could go to sleep in my own room away from everyone.

I looked for the room that had my name on it and entered.

LAKISHA

I was about ready to give up the silence and say something to Adam when a guard approached. "I take it that was you?" He hissed.

I looked around, everybody's eyes were on me now. "It was," I replied emotionlessly. I was intimidated of course, but like I'd let them know that.

Claw hissed at the man and he took a step back. I smirked. What a whimp. "You do it again and you will be severely punished." He walked away and I couldn't help but let out a chuckle. He turned. "I'm not kidding."

"Well then..." Adam muttered, running a hand through his hair.

"Sorry about that...bad habbit. You know, practicle jokes." I winked pulled up the hood to my cloak a bit and winked at him. He eyed my scar, but didn't comment. I didn't feel like sharing the story anyways.

"Meh, don't worry about it."

A voice sounded over an intercom. "Meal Time and Social Time is now over. Please make your way to your rooms for Rest Time. We will wake you at dawn, thank you."

I groaned. "Dawn?"

Adam laughed. "I'd like to know where our rooms are in the first place," he muttered.

As if on cue, another man carrying a pistol marched into the room. I laughed, he looked like an idiot. "This way please," he shouted over the groans and complaining and began to march again.

I chuckled and stood up, sucking in my cheeks and straightening my posture. I started mimicking him. I usually wasn't quite this mean, but I just couldn't resist. I was flabbergasted and in a bittersweet mood. Why not?

Plot twist time, tell me if there are any objections. ;)

Cain

I was not sure if I was awake yet. I felt my eyes open, yet I could not see. A voice--a couple of voices--floated around in the dark. Something metal prodded against my cheek. The cold made me shiver.

"...hear me? Can you hear me?"

"Yes," someone else answered for me. "Temporal lobes show functioning. His mouth might still be paralyzed fr--"

"Hush, hush." It was a woman, her voice slightly annoyed.

"Is he ready? Jane?"

There was more prodding and tapping. I tried my best to do something, anything, but my body would not allow me to even show my frustration. As soon as they let me go, they had better watch out.

"Ready, ready. Go."

Something buzzed, and then slowly, the room lighted up. Around me stood five figures, clad completely in sterile white. The things in their hands looked dangerous.

"Take him out, Doe."

I was being wheeled through the room. An ominous wave swept over me. I couldn't move, but I had to save myself from whatever these people wanted. I remembered the people I had come with. Oh, what were their names again?

At the top of my lungs, I screamed, praying to every god that they would hear me. "KALAYAN! ELI! LAKISHA! LAKISHA!!"
The wittiest thing is the simple truth.

Kalayan

I had been sleeping. Really calmly, too. First good nights rest I'd had in weeks. Or days. It was all merging together.

Then I heard our names being called. Was that... Cain? I bolted upright. Ok, so I wasn't exactly dressed properly, but it sounded like he was really in trouble. And that meant that I wasn't going to wait for anything.

I jumped out of my room and saw some medical-looking people wheeling Cain out. "Get away from him!" They turned towards me and one of them, a big, hairy strong guy, ran towards me. "Fu-" I said, about to curse, but he clamped his hands over my mouth.

"Thought it'd only be one, but I guess we're going to have to take two birdies in," he said sarcastically. "Let's go, before more come."

Eli Black :

Eli groaned loudly as Sabe shoved her out of the bed during one of his stretches. Suddenly, she heard someone scream her name, as well as Kalayan's and Lakisha's. She stood up quickly, Crim flying to her shoulder and Sabe swiftly leaping from the bed. She ran to the door, flinging it open before running after Sabe, who was listening and smelling out Cain. As she rounded the corner after Sabe, she heard his angry hiss, and some comotion. She turned the corner, eyes wide at the four people in bright white clothing. One, a man, had a hold of Kalayan, while the three others where wheeling a strapped down Cain from a room.

"What's going on?" Eli demanded, glaring. The large hairy man who had Kalayan in his grasp, hissed in anger, which caused Sabe's hair to rise as he snarled. Eli conjured up some ice crystal needles in her palm, realizing these people weren't going to play nice. "Let them go." She growled, lowering her head in anger.

Kalayan

Eli was here. Great. One more of us that they would capture.

Eli held up her hand and told them to let us go. Well, that was a laugh. Like they would ever do that just because one of us told them to. I was glad that Eli was there, though, even though it was hopeless. It meant probably more than she knew.

One of the people clothed in white pulled a switch. I could hear the doors lock and Lakisha yelling as she tried to open the door. "Come with us, and no one gets hurt," the woman in white said slowly.

"I was about to say the same thing," Eli retorted.

Eli Black :

Eli, just do what they tell you. Eli looked around quickly, trying to find who said that. Sabe was still growling, and Crim had her feathers puffed out in an attempt to look bigger. Defeated, Eli grabbed Crim gently, setting her on Sabe's head. "Stay here." She whispered, looking down at them. A woman grabbed a syringe, full of some liquid, and Eli glared. "Don't you dare." She hissed, glaring. "He'll listen, he's just very protective."

The big, hairy man let go of Kalayan, and shooed Crim and Sabe back towards Eli's room, Eli nodding to Sabe for him to listen as she finally began walking with the others down the white corridor, her steps falling in sync with Kalayan's as Cain was rolled on the gurney. Her stomach contorted and twisted with thoughts of what was ahead, and she began to twiddle her thumbs nervously.
