This is the beginning of the end.

Well, now that I think about it... that could either be a really bad or a really bad line. Basically depending on how good the story was that would come after that.... *shrug*

Most beginning lines of novels are quite boring, and I must say that while trying to formulate a beginning line for my novel is quite exhausting, gnawing one old, sad pen while repeating different sounds and vowels in my head, ultimately choosing to place this rather enlongated sentence as my beginning is in the end helpful in my recognizing the unfortunate fact that every beginning line I will come up with will be enormously dull, and that the reader who has already picked up this book has a dismal, almost exasperated, anxious or apathetic look on his or her face.

Mmm?
my world isn't only beautiful
it is so far away

This is the greatest book in the history of the entire universe, including any alien races that may have written books.

BRRIINNNGGG!!! My cell phone rang in the middle of my high school history class I was so embarrassed, the guy I liked started snickering, with brown hair and bright dreamy blue eyes.

ARGG! It's harder to write bad ones than good ones!

This is a tale of how the Earth is saved from destruction by The Chosen One in an inter-spacial battle of Epic Proportions. You can believe me. I was there.

Hello, my name is Eme, and I'm going to tell you a story about a girl who meets a boy, and they accidentally fall in love, but then the boy has to go to war, and the girl is really sad, and then she gets a letter, telling her he's missing in action, and she is very sad for a year, but then he comes back, and is standing at her door, and they sob in each others' arms, and talk about how much they've missed each other, then get married, and have a daughter name Mia, because her dad was Missing In Action.

xD

These are great! Okay here's mine:

"He drew and fired in one motion. The outlaw fell to the ground. Dead. The hardened cowboy's eyebrows narrowed. He'd seen dead men before, this one was no different. Just another poor soul on its way to hell."

Once upon a time, there was a man and a woman but then the man died and after many difficult trials which should make you care for her but probably won't because she's such an awful person but at some point she'll overcome that and then that will be the end yay.

Once in a far, far, far, faaaaaaaaaaar awaaaaaaaay land there lived a cute, annoying, humble, stupid, meek little girl. She lived with her really, really, really fat mother and her really, really, really anorexic father. She likes to pick strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, mulberries, boysenberries, wolfberries and all those wonderful fruits ending in berry in her big berry garden. She would go to her big berry garden every afternoon to pick strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, mulberries, boysenberries, wolfberries and all berries in her big berry garden. She would give some to her father but not to her mother because she is already too fat. Then she would eat all the berries that she picked. She only eats berries. She doesn't eat any food other than that because she is afraid to end up like her mother.

This is really horrible. Top this!

Sara Bringleson was the prettiest girl in school. She had long auburn hair that gently curled down to her shoulders, her piercing green eyes twinkled when she laughed, and she had a sense of style that Parisian stylists and gay men everywhere envied.

But now she's dead, and all of that didn't matter anymore.
