**Alright, I'm back earlier than expected, thanks to a busted knee. All else was good though.**

Ossal

Tier, Zodiak and Lhuna had rushed off to help fight off the pack of wolverines menacing some of their pack, but Star had apparently chosen to stay with Ossal, who merely padded back towards the camp.

After a while, Star made a small sound, trying to attract Ossal's attention. The shaman turned to regard the young wolf, "Mm?"

"You were going to teach me how things work in the pack?"

Ossal let out a quiet, rumbling laugh, "Most of it you'll pick up, with that sense of yours. Basically, there are only a few things you need to know right now. Lhuna runs the show. Rayne and I help her from time to time. Tier and Zodiak both think they should be the lead hunter, but neither will back down about it. That's why they don't get along, and why Tier was especially amused when he heard about Zodiak trying to protect me from you. The Scouts, like Cana and Tiron, you probably won't see much of. They make sure the borders stay safe from other packs, and find where prey is for the hunters and such. Everyone has their role, and that makes sure the pack works."

Star looked quiet - it had to sound very different to what he'd known, Ossal knew. The old wolf smiled, "You, I imagine, will help Tier and Zodiak with the hunt. But other than that, you'll stay with me so I can teach you how to use your sense properly."

Suddenly, Ossal froze, eyes wide, "Impossible!" He said, then spun about, "Star, Lhuna is that way," He pointed, "Go and get her, and tell her Lido, Viking, and some others have taken Storm and Leo. They're trying to go around the Eastern side of Summit Lake. Now go!"

Star nodded, and bolted off into the distance.

**And, for the record, Tier is currently with Lhuna, Zodiak and the others. I'm not quite sure what to post for him right now, though.**

Cana - Yellow Hill

I looked around for Bane, but he had dissapeared. The wind picked up and blew from the lake. It held the scent of a Black Tooth.

I took off towards the scent, breaking through the bushes and growling loudly as I saw the Black Tooth wolf standing over Bane.

"Back off now." I growled. "This is Yellow Hill territory."

The Black Tooth wolf looked at me strangely. Bane looked at me with a wolfish grin. I relaxed a bit.

"Okay Bane, what am I missing?" I asked.
Got YWS?

Leo~Yellow Hill
(her and Storm are at the Black Tooth's camp)

"Leo, are you scared?" Storm asked.

"Yeah." she admitted.

"Do you think Kayla will help us?" he asked.

"Of course I will." Kayla whispered. "Follow me." she motioned with her tail for them to be quiet, as they made a big circle. After a couple of hours, of complete solitude Kayla spoke. "Were going around the lake, it'll take longer but it'll be safer.

"Thanks Kayla." Leo whispered. Kayla had always been a good friend, she was so nice. Which made Leo and Storm wonder. Why was she a Black Tooth?

(they don't know that Lido is her father)

Viking~ Black Tooth

"Viking follow Kayla." Lido commanded.

"Why?" Viking asked confused. "Aren't we going back?"

"This is her test of loyalty." Lido replied coolly. "If she takes them back bring them all back alive, I will give a punishment for the crime." Lido sighed.

Viking began to follow till Ghost started to tag along.

Ghost~Black Tooth

"This is her test of Loyalty." Lido whispered to Viking. As Viking started to walk off following Kayla's scent, Ghost followed. He couldn't let Viking get to them, not again. Ghost was the one who talked Viking to come to there pack, but that was so long ago. . .that was the old Ghost. The one he'll never be again, the one that killed for fun, the one that slaughtered innocent pup's. Until Lark came that is. . .

Lhuna, Yellow Hill

"Star, are you sure?" Lhuna asked in a cracked voice.
"Yes. Ossal used his sense. I trust him," Star replied with a nod. Lhuna looked blankly ahead, formulating a plan. Her mind clunked and ticked in an irregular timing; she could not understand how these wolves got away from her.
"He'll kill them, he'll kill them," was all she could say, her throat tight. Rayne paced the area, close to tears while Zodiak tried to lick her face in comfort.
Tier approached her slowly, and began in a dubious voice, "Lhuna, everything will be ok. I promise."
But she could sense the unsure tone of his voice. Star stood awkwardly among the other wolves, his head turned away from them.
Lhuna looked back at Star, the wobble in her voice replaced with rage. Family was all she got, and she had let them down. Ossal would be so dissapointed in her.
"Star, where are those Black Tooth wolves?"
"They're trying to escape around the east side of Summit Lake."
She turned her head to her three other pack members.
"I have an idea."
"Shoot," said Zodiak, pointing his ears forward.
"We cut across Summit Lake, and meet them on the other side as they return to their territory. There I can deal with Lido while you guys-"
"No!!" howled Zodiak, jumping forward, his tail vertical. "You'll die, Lhuna!"
Lhuna looked down and mumbled, "I need to protect my family. And you are all in danger until Lido is stone cold dead."
She began to pace, watching her paws as she informed them of the plan. "I will take the hunters and anyone who is able to fight. If you guys swim further to the west and start the fight, I will arrive shortly after and attack while Lido is distracted." She paused and looked up at all of them. "If something happens, leave me. That is an order from your Alpha."
The wolves looked at her silently, but Zodiak's face was crumpled an anguish.
"Cana, spread the word to the others. The rest, you know what to do. Now go!"
She watched her family disperse. She feared for their lives a hundred times more than she feared for her own. She took a deep breath, and began to run towards the dark shape of Summit Lake.

*Sorry about your knee, but great to have you back! :D Guys, I have an idea for the story, so I'll post on the DT now*

Bane - Yellow Hill

Bane stood up, smiling crookedly at Cana, shaking his pelt out. "Cana, this is my sister, Hera. She was taken from Yellow Hill as a pup, but a friend of her's called Talon, reunited us when she was old enough." Cana nodded slowly before turning to Bane.

"Bane, the others have gone to fight Black Tooth before they attack. We have to go and help. She won't tell, will she?" She shot Hera a glare, while Hera laughing lightly.

"I won't, believe me, I'd love to see Lido fall, anyway, I must go and see Talon. He said we're going to help out a bit." She nudged Bane lovingly before bowing her head to Cana and turning to run to the Black Tooth camp. She swam half way across the lake, all scent of Yellow Hill washing off, and ran swam towards shore, running for camp. She shook her head as she ran, not watching where she was going, and slammed into Kayla, who had two Yellow Hill pups at her sides.

Cana - Yellow Hill

After watching Hera run off I turned to Bane. "We're going to fight, you should go find Lhuna and the others." I told him.

I turned and bounded off to warn any other wolf in the camp.

*Lauren2010: There's a slight problem with your post since Bane left Cana and bumped into Kayla.*

Kayla~

"Bane!" I whispered in a hush but excited voice, "Its been awhile!"

Bane looked at me with confusion, "Kayla? What are you doing with..."

"You know what I'm doing. I'm so glad you're you bumped into me. Here take the pups." I said, nudging the still dazed pups towards Bane.

Before our conversation could go any longer, I heard Viking howl behind me, Ghost trailing behind him.

Leo~ Yellow Hill

The nightmare was going to be over! It was to quiet, not even Storm made a sound and he's never quiet. Leo thought, as she so wrapped up in them, that she didn't even notice Bane until he practically knocked Kayla over.

"Bane! It's been awhile." Kayla whispered, her and Bane began to talk a little, but where interrupted by a fierce howl!

"Viking!" Kayla eyes went wide. "Bane take the pups back, I'll handle him." she whispered.

"I'm not going to leave you." he said as he stood firmly.

"There's no choice. IF you don't leave now, then the pups will die!" she said with grave warning in her voice.

Viking~ Black Tooth

"I know it!" he growled as he caught a Yellow Hill scent along with Kayla and the pups.

He howled a fierce cry right before he started to charge, but was knocked over by a black shadow.

Ghost~Black Tooth

Viking let out a howl, making every hair on my pelt rise in fear. He was going to disobey his orders, and kill Kayla! (Ghost shaman sense told him) He wouldn't let that happen, he had already lost to many people he cared about.

He ran full speed and tackled Viking down, letting out a defensive growl. He was going to protect Kayla no matter what! Memory of his battles came back to him, and he fought his best against Viking but they were evenly matched.

**Actually thefireinmeisJC, Hera is the one that ran into Kayla, but it's cool, it can be Bane :)**

Bane - Yellow Hill

"Kayla, it seems that the two wolves following you are in a fight." Bane nodded towards the edge of the Black Tooth forest, where two wolves were fighting vicously. His mind was brought back to the pups after Leo shivered against his injured leg. "I'll take these two back." Kayla nodded. "Hey," she looked at him, "Be careful," he bowed his head to her and turned away, starting back to the camp. "Are you two okay?" Both pups nodded slightly, obviously still scared, yet a bit relieved.

Talon - Black Tooth

"What are we going to do Talon?" Hera questioned, looking up at the larger wolf that was beside her. They were on a large hill, staring over Summit Lake. Some Yellow Hill wolves were going around both sides of the lake, and two Black Tooth wolves were fighting each other. Bane was walking towards the forest, two pups at his side, and Kayla was hurrying over to the two Black Tooth wolves that were fighting.

"When Lhuna and the others start the fight with Lido, then, and only then, will we help. I want us to mask our scent first, and you need to roll in a bit of dirt. You're two... brightly colored." He smiled crookedly at Hera, getting shoved.

"Well, I guess we start disguising ourselves," Hera rolled her eyes while Talon nodded, both starting down the hill.

*Oh! So sorry. I thought it was Bane.*

Kayla~

"Viking! Ghost! Stop it!" I cried, trying to come between them. My heart wavered when I saw that Viking was clearly winning. Ghost's ear was bloody and there was a gash on his chest. Despite my crying for them to stop, Viking lept on Ghost, and started to bite his neck. I clawed Viking's shoulder making him yelp and pulled him off of Ghost. Both wolves stood back and panted, looking at me.

"You little traitor! What would your daddy think? I've always thought you were a good for nothing." Viking sneered.

"Don't listen to him," Ghost whispered in my ear and stood in front of me, blocking Viking's way.

"Why are you here anyway?" Ghost hissed at Viking.

Viking just laughed, "Just tell me where the pups are so I can get this over with."

*Hope this is ok!*

Cana

I warned as many wolves as I could find. Those suited to went to fight and the pups were hidden away safely.

I sat on a large flat rock where I caught my breath. I considered my options. I wasn't the best fighter in the Yellow Hill pack. I could fight to survive but it was nothing special. My speed was my asset, which is why I was a scout and not a hunter.

Howls erupted from around the lake. I decided that I must go serve my pack.

I stood and started off towards the banks of Summit Lake, hoping I wouldn't find myself needing to fight of Black Tooth wolves right away. I ran for only a short distance before I was greeted by rustling in nearby bushes.

"Who's there?" I asked, preparing for the worst.

Luckily only Bane and two pups, Leo and Storm, appeared from the bushes.

"What are they doing here?" I asked. "They should be with the other pups!"

"I'm taking them back." Bane explained. "They had been stolen by some Black Tooth wolves, Kayla brought them back."

I nodded and watched them continue past to the camp. Kayla was trustworthy. I started running again, howls from familiar and unfamiliar wolves getting louder. I cringed at the sound; there would be a battle tonight, if not the start of a war.

Viking~Black Tooth

"I always knew you were good for nothing." he growled out, as Ghost stood in front of Kayla. "Just tell me where the pups are and I'll get this over with quickly."

"No Viking. . .I'm not letting this happen again." Ghost growled.

"Again? What are you talking about Ghost?" Kayla asked as she looked at him.

"So you were never told?" he replied with a evil grin.

"Told what?" she asked still looking at Ghost.

Kayla stared at him, with hopeful eyes, as if she wanted to know, yet at the same time didn't want to know.

"Well. . ." before Ghost could finish a she wolf appeared looking like she was ready to fight.

"Cana?" Kayla asked in shock, as Viking lunged at her.

Tier

No matter what Lhuna had said, there was no way he was going to leave her behind if 'something' happened. He'd kill Lido himself if he had to. He looked at Zodiak as Lhuna dashed down to Summit Lake, "Whatever our differences, Zodiak," he said, "I think we can agree to help Lhuna, if and when she gets out of her depth."

Zodiak nodded his agreement, and then the two of them race along the edge of Summit Lake before plunging into the water, starting to head over towards the Black Tooth territory. Hunters and scouts followed behind them, as well as every other adult that could fight. Yellow Hill had already lost too much to their enemies to allow the deaths of two more pups.

Ossal

He closed his eyes and seated himself on the ground. What good can an old wolf like me do against the likes of that hot-blooded pack of youths? He thought, Every Black Tooth adult is younger and stronger than I. All I'd be able to do is preempt their attacks...

A wind blew through the trees around him, and pebbles shivered a little. Ossal smiled to himself, Ah. Welcome, friends.

The spirits had never spoken to him directly, they spoke directly to no shaman. Such a bridging between the worlds would kill any mortal wolf. It had been attempted before under dire circumstances, but was useless. A truly talented shaman could glean the spirits' information without endangering themselves.

His eyes flickered open after a short while, Ossal comprehending what they had seen. The pups are on their way back? With Kayla? He frowned and shook the tiredness from his bones, breaking into a sprint around the edge of the lake, The pack must be warned, else many will die needlessly this night.

He hoped Star would sense his urgency and be able to interpret it. Because realistically, there was no way Ossal would be able to reach Lhuna and the others before the attack began.

Lhuna, Yellow Hill

She met the icy water with a crash after flinging herself as far into the lake as she could muster. Lhuna began to kick her legs madly with an effort to reach the Black Tooth wolves before it was too late. The freezing water bit down in her bones with cracking force as she powered on. Her muscles screamed in protest by the time she was nearly to the shore.
She slipped under for a moment, before flinging her head upwards and breaking the surface again.
Nearly there, keep going...
She collasped onto the shore, gasping and panting for breath. She rested her head on the soft sand, regaining her breath.
Her head snapped upwards as she saw two raven black paws place in front of her.
"Young Lhuna. Pleasure to meet you," came the sinister voice of Lido, who grinned maliciously above her.
She rolled onto her feet, her wet hackles raising into menacing spikes around her head.
"No time for greetings Lido. Let's get this over with," she snarled savagely, daring him to make a move.
"Gladly." He lunged for her throat.

Zodiak, Yellow Hill

Tier ran along side Zodiak as the ran the perimeter of Summit Lake. He turned his head to the other hunter, and spoke in urgent words as they ran, "We have to get there as fast as possible, or else Lido might have already got to her."
"I know, Zodiak. I just hope we can get there fast enough." They all stopped at the bank of Summit Lake, as the two hunters turned to face the others.
They both started to speak, and growled when the beginnings of orders came from their mouths. Zodiak was as stubborn as ever, glaring at Tier with a warning in his eyes. But then, a horrible thought came to his head, Lhuna lying dead on the ground....
"Hurry," he muttered to Tier, as he began to give orders. He flattened his ears at this, he didn't like the sound of Tier ordering others at all.
The other wolves began to cross the lake, and Zodiak turned to Tier.
"Tier, we're in this together. No heroic stuff, alright?"
Tier nodded as they both ran to meet the cold lake water.

*I will do the Lhuna/Lido fight later guys ;)*
