**Erk... how about... we skip maybe a month and one August's blonde friend is making him go to the animal shelter and get her a kitten for her eighteenth birthday? idk**

Kasie tapped her pen on her desk, staring at the different animals she had. It was amazing how many came in after one week. Coon was slightly larger so she'd put him out with the bigger dogs to goof off, just so she could keep the smaller puppies safe. The door opened and closed quickly and Kasie looked up, seeming nobody. Paying no mind, she went back to her papers. A small hand suddenly reached over the counter, ringing the bell multiple times. Kasie couldn't help but smile lightly. Ever since she'd opened up a little, four year old girl had came to the shelter after asking her brother to drop her off. "Hey Samantha! You want to see the puppies, kitties, or bunnies today?" Kasie questioned, walking around the counter and squating before the girl.

"The puppies! Papa said if I'm really good for the next week he'll let me come and pick out a puppy for my early birthday present! I really want to take them all home... but Papa says I can only have one and if I'm lucky Ryan can get one too," Kasie laughed and ruffled the small girl's hair, "Miss Kay! Which one should I get?" Kasie held her hands up in mock defense.

"Don't ask me because I'm for all animals. However, if you really want a great pet get one that's the exact oppisite of you," she smiled, remembering the day her dad gave her Coon.

"Why? Wouldn't that be a bad thing?"

"No! Of course not! See when I got Coon he brought me out of my shell. My advice to you is to get a shy puppy so that when it grows up it'll be as outgoing as you!" At that Samantha ran into the puppy area giggling loudly. Just as Kasie stood she ran into someone, falling to the ground. The ground had been getting a little too close lately.

"Dammit," a voice spat, "Crap, crap, crap. I mean sorry. Are you okay?" A smooth voice questioned right as Kasie opened her eyes. A tall, shaggy haired guy was staring down at her, hand extended. She gripped it lightly and pulled herself up, shaking her head slowly. "Wait... are you this Miss Kay that Samantha's been talking about?" Kasie just nodded. "Oh! Then it's great to meet you! I'm Oliver, her brother!"

"Oh! Really?" Oliver nodded this time. Within five minutes both were taking turns talking nonstop over the counter.

August rolled his eyes as he heard Emy going on and on about getting a kittne. She was his little cousin who was staying with them for a few weeks.

"So, daddy said I'd get one when I got here." She smield.

"And your taking her today to get one." His mom said as she picked up another candy wrapper Brittney had left laying around.

"What?" August demanded.

"Have fun." His mom smiled leaving the room.

"Come on, let's go!" Brittney whinned. He bit his lower lips to keep from growling and drove her to the new shelter he knew Kay owned. He found himself wanting to talk to her lately. They walked in and he saw her talking to some guy. "Where are the kitties? I want a kitty!" Brittney hissed as she looked around. August looked over at Kay for help when he caught her eye.

For some odd reason Kasie and Oliver had veered off to the subject of what they were doing Saturday considering it was Friday already. The bell rang and Kasie suddenly looked to the door, seeing August and a little girl arguing quietly. She really didn't want to help him, seeing as though he signed her up for a math team and she had to go through hell to get off of it. However, the little girl seemed to be annoying. Oh happy day. "Ah, Oliver I'll be right back!" Kasie smiled politely and walked towards August, glaring at him and squating down in front of the girl. "Hello, I'm Kasie, owner of this place. May I ask who you are?" The girl's entire personallity seemed to change.

"Hi! I'm Emy and I'm here to get a kitten! Wow! You own this place?! That's so cool!" Emy squealed.

Kasie laughed lightly and nodded. "Yeah I do own it! So, you want a kitten right?" Emy nodded. "Quick Em, tell me, girl or boy?"

"Girl!" Kasie laughed and gripped the girl's hand gently, leading her to the female kitten area.

"Okay Em, you go ahead and play with them and when you pick out one come tell me, okay?" The little girl nodded, squealed, and ran in. Kasie laughed and stepped around August, heading back towards Oliver. She really wasn't in the mood to talk to August.

August looked at Emy his eyes ready to pop out of his head. She was being nice for once. He was about to thank Kay when she breezed past him without a second look.

Fine, be a bitch. He thought crossing his arms. He didn't have to let his cousin get a pet here. Didn't have to get Kay money to help support her buisness.

"Looky!" Emy squealed picking up a cat by it's tail. August quickly walked over snatching the cat away.

"Em, you dont' hold it like that." he said gently petting the cat to try and calm it. "You gotta be careful."

"I know that!" Emy hissed grabbing another cat. He groaned as he had to grab cat after cat from her before she hurt it to bad.

Kay, these are your damn cats, come show her what she's supposed to do. I'm a dog person! He groaned in his head.

"Why can't I just hold the kitty like I want?" Emy growled.

"Cause you don't want me to pick you up by your ear or foot do you?" He asked.

"NO!" Emy hissed.

"They don't want you picking them up or squeezing them either. You have to be gentle." He replied slowly losing his temper.

"-and then she slammed into the wall like some blind roadrunner on drugs!" Kasie laughed lightly as Oliver talked, soon glancing over at Emy and August to see how they were doing. She almost screamed after seeing Emy pick up a cat by the back leg. She excused herself momentarilly and almost ran back over to Emy and the mewing kitten. Once Emy saw her it was almost as if a halo appeared above her head.

"Em, look, you can't hold the kitten like that!" Kasie slipped the kitten away from Emy and rocked it in her arm gently. "Look, you've got to be gentle with it."

"Oh... well, he told me to do it!" Em pointed at August and Kasie laughed lightly, ruffling the girl's hair.

"I'll just have to get onto August about that won't I?" Emy's eyes about popped out of her head.

"You know my cousin?!" Kasie just nodded and smiled. "That's so awesome! Okay, so I hold it like this?" She had another kitten rocking in her arms and Kasie nodded.

"That's about right."

August gritted his teeth. He had so many claw marks on his arms and hands it wasn't funny, and she was blaming it on him!

"Sense you've got this I'm gonna go get some of that dog food over there for my dogs." He growled standing up.

"Dogs!" Emy gasped. "Oh no! You'll have to get rid of the dogs, they'll hurt my kitty." He looked back at her anger running up his back and his fist clenching. If she thougth he was getting rid of his dogs, or that they were going to have to stay out because of her she was sadly mistaken.

"Emy, my dogs are going no where. Maybe you should get a puppy." he said trying to keep his voice calm. Why did he have to be the one to bring her here! He started feeling ever claw mark on his arms, but he ignored them.

Kasie thought for a moment before standing up and striding over to the puppy area. She smiled at Samantha, who was playing and laughing with a german shepherd mix, and walked over to a cage that held tiny, whining puppies about five months old. She picked up one and rubbed it between the ears before walking back over to the kittens and tapping the glass. The dog was a mix of something. She had no idea really. All she new is that it wouldn't get that big. It was basically a mutt. Emy came running out, a wide smile on her face. "Em, what if I told you that I'll let you take this puppy home and when you get older I'll let you come back and get a kitten. For one reason, August over there doesn't know a thing about cats and two, he can help you with anything if you get a dog."

"Really?!" Kasie nodded slightly and smiled.

August wanted to walk over and hug Kay, but decided it wouldn't be the best idea right now.

"So you want a puppy?" Kay asked Emy.

"YES!" Emy squealed. Kay pulled out a small puppy and showed Emy how to hold it. It squirmed a little and then started licking Emy's face like crazy. He grabbed a two big bags of dog food and put them on the counter then grabbed a smaller bag of puppy food. Emy ran over and showed him the puppy.

"Cute." He said touching the mutts head. "Now let's get a collar, leash, water and food bowl, and all the other stuff your gonna need for this pup."

"Ok!" Emy grinned running towards the row of leashes and stuff. Kay had this place stocked with just the right stuff, but it wasn't smelly and annoying like Petco or Petsmart. He had a feeling he'd come here to get his food and stuff for his dogs all the time. Plus the prices weren't as rediculuous like Petsmart and Petco.

Emy ended up picking out a pink harness and leash, then a matching food dish and water dish. Then there was the bed and then a brush. He grabbed a crate for the mutt to sleep in and then carried the stuff to the check out counter.

"Did we forget anything?" He asked with a smile.

Kasie smiled lightly and slid a few papers across the counter. "Not really. Just sign your name and the adoption fee is about... sixty bucks. Um... you can change her name, but it may be confusing to her after five months of being known as the name on her papers." She reached behind the desk, pulling out a soft chew toy that squeaked. The second she squeazed it the puppy's ears pricked up and its tail began to wag. Emy laughed lightly and Kasie handed her the toy so she could play with the puppy before going back to August's house. Kasie smiled at August lightly right as Samantha ran out of the puppy room with the same german shepherd mix as before.

"Oli! I want this one!" She squealed, rocking the young, yet large dog in her arms. Or at least trying to.

Kasie helped him haul the rest of the stuff out and pulled a small tube of bacterial medicine. "Here, some of those kittens can be fiesty." She was just joking around with him. She smiled lightly and handed the tube to him. Just a bit on the bad scratches. Kitten claws are evil," she let out a joking laugh and turned back towards the doors, starting back. Kasie leaned down and smiles and Emy. "If you need any help just run across the street okay? That's where I live." Emy nodded, eyes wide and excited, and ran over to August, mouth moving a mile a second.

***That works***

August winced as he sat in his truck putting the medicine on. He then made sure Emy was buckled in and her dog was in the crate up in the front seat so she couldn't let her out.

"Will your dogs like her?" Emy asked.

"They won't care.' He replied. "She's a girl, their guys and already know how's in charge. Her and Camo, my puppy, might get in a tussle, but it'll be over in no time."

**:D I just had the most awesomest time at a party**

Kasie groaned as Coon dragged her from her car and out into her yard, tail going a thousand miles an hour. Okay, so handling a huge, angry tom cat wasn't her idea of fun, and aparently it hadn't been the cat's either. The had claw marks on the left side of her face, from her temple to her chin and everytime she moved a muscle in her face a wave of pain hit her. She pulled Coon into the house and collapsed on her couch, eyes glued to the new number in her cell phone. Oliver was going to pick her up tomorrow at six, if he didn't have 'big-brother' stuff to do. It was times like this that Kasie wished she had a little sister to get her out of some things. Oliver was amazing and all, but Kasie just didn't feel like going anywhere but to work.

Right as Kasie went to close her eyes a loud knock eurupted from her door. Who the hell was at her door at ten at night. Kasie swung the door open, looking down after being greeted with nothing, only to get the same result. She closed the door and the second she did another series of knocks sounded. Damn kids. She swung the door open again and glared around, slamming it shut.

*Meh, he can either be the one doing it or the one who's just watching a bunch of thirteen-year-olds do it**

***Sweet!!! What kind o party?***

August smiled as he sat on his porch watching the kids knocking on Kay's door then taking off and hiding. She came out for about the forth time.

"If you don't stop I'm gonna sick my dog on you!" She growled. He couldn't hold back his laugh this time. That dog of her's wouldn't hurt a fly. She must've heard him cause she looked up to his house. "JERK!" She turned and slammed the door again.

"One omre time kids." He whispered. He wanted to see what she would do. He watched as the girl of the group ran to the door, knocked, then dove into the bushes.

Kasie growled lowly and opened her door widely, whistling for Coon. The dog shot out the door, barking wildly and sniffing in the bushes. He wouldn't hurt the kids... maybe just scare him off. Instead, it had the oppisite effect and the kids didn't even show themselves. Kasie huffed and called him back in. "If you guys don't leave I'll call the cops." Still nothing. Kasie rolled her eyes and stomped back inside, growling to herself.
