August laughed and stood up calling Engine and Arbor over. They ran to his side and he walked down the yard.

"Tense." He told the two dogs in a deep voice. They both got into a posture that looked threatening.

"Alright kids, you got five minutes be out of site." He said. No response. "Search." Both dogs tore into the bushes and the kids jumped out and took off running.

Arbor and Engine started after them and he waited right before Arbor caught up to the slowest kid.

"Come!" He called. Both stopped, turned around and walked to him smiling with joy from the chase. He started back up to his house both dogs at his side.

Kasie sighed as August brought in the dogs then looked over at her calender. There were only two weeks before her real friends were going to come up and even though it wasn't that far away, she wished the time would be shorter. She wanted to see all her friends again. They'd said they were going to come up the second week before their school got out. Kasie had officially made herself an outcast at her new shool. She'd stopped hanging out with the people she met on her first day and spent much more time studying and writing. Coon whined from next to her, licking her fingers gingerly.

*yeah i got nothing sorry. You can do a time skip or anything else you want*

***OK***

A week later August walked around his house trying to find the leash for Arbor.

"What are you doing?" His mom asked.

"I can't find any of my leashes." He said as he tore open a box of random stuff.

"Emy has them in her room." His mom replied.

"Why?" He growled.

"Cause she needed them for something or another. Let me go get them. You need more food for those dogs too."

"I know, but I wanted to walk them first."

"Hold your horses, how about you get the food first."

"Fine."

**Eep, never answered your question! Sorry! It was my friend's brother's sixteenth birthday party**

Kasie rolled her pen between her teeth, her earphones blasting out some Forever the Sickest Kids song. Her date with Oliver had went okay last Saturday, and they were going again tomorrow. She straightened and took her earphones out as the door open, only to slouch and groan at Thomas who'd walked through the door. Without asking she rang up the expenses of the dog food, watching him grab the large bags. His muscles rippled under his shirt and Kasie blushed lightly, realizing she was staring. She stared off into space, still rolling the pen between her teeth.

***August :P ***

August grabbed the bags and carried them out to his truck then stopped and walked back inside.

"Didn't you get everything?" She asked.

"Yup." He replied walking over to the counter and leaning against it.

"Then you can leave."

"Listen, we started off on the wrong foot. I'm sorry I was mean to you. I shouldn't have been. But you at least need to make some friends. Stop secluding yourself." He said straightening up and crossing his arms.

*Yeah, I meant that  :P *

Kasie stared at him momentarilly, her face emotionless. She hadn't come to California to make friends in all truth. She'd come to start her life because she was tired of always being watched and followed by nosy neighbors and annoying parents. "Listen," she copied, "I didn't come here to make friends and I sure as hell have not secluded myself. I just don't like it here. Just because I don't like to talk to a bunch of people with a sideways stick up their ass doesn't mean I've secluded myself." She didn't want to be rude, she just really didn't want to talk to anyone.

***I know :D***

August shook his head and laughed. "I know everyone here is kinda mean and all. But that doesn't mean you have to be a royal bithc. Maybe I was wrong thinking you weren't just like everyone else. Stuck up." He shrugged and turned walking towards the door.

Kasie couldn't help but smirk widely. "And you think you're different from everyone else?" He stopped walking. "Do you not think that you're stuck up? Or that your a complete jerk? Well bud, I've got some news for you. You're just like the rest of 'em. If your not, then prove it." She waited for a few minutes for him to say something. "Uh-oh. I forgot. You've got to stay at the top of the "foodchain" so you're not down here in the 'seclusion' pits like me, huh?" Kasie shrugged her shoulders indifferently and rolled her eyes. "You better get on home, you've got another party to go to right? You don't worry about your mom asking you to watch your cousin. She's already asked me to babysit. I guess even your mom knows how horrid it would be for you to miss a party. Bye bye Mister Prince-of-the-school." She waved and smiled fakely, waiting for him to go.

August laughed. "I know I'm a jerk." He shrugged and opened the door. "Least I can be nice." He stepped through the door and walked out to his truck. :'(

Kasie stared after him before shaking her head with a sigh and closing everything up. By the time she'd fed and watered the animals and locked everything up August was gone. Her phone suddenly went off, sounding out the lyrics of "Big Yellow Taxi" by Counting Crow. Kasie answered while driving, eyes still on the road.

"Hello?"

"Kasie!" It was August's mom. "I was just wondering what time you were coming home! Emy's been complaining all day and August is already gone," Kasie's frown deepened.

"I'm on my way home ma'am. I just closed u- Holy crap!" Kasie swerved out of the way of an oncoming truck that had been swerving between the two-way street. The larger truck slammed head-on with the side of Kasie's truck, sending her spinning for a deep ditch. Her truck went in nose first, flipping over so it landed on its back.

The last thing Kasie heard before blacking out was the scream of sirens.

August had just left his house when he saw his mom call someone. Probably Kay to get rid of Emy. Everyone in his house was fed up with the little girl. But they had her all sticking summer. Five minutes after he left home his phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Kassie just got into a wreck coming home from her shop. Go help, I called nine one one already." His mom's worried voice came over the phone. He hit the gas until he saw the sirens up ahead. Stopping behind a police car he ran down the imbankment that Kay's car was on. THe police were working on getting her out of the car until the ambulance got there. He helped as best he could sense there were only two cops at the moment.

When they got her up the embankment and the ambulance got there he followed it to the hospital.

Kasie groaned softly, pain coarsing through her body as she blinked her eyes open and shook her head. The hospital room around her slowly came to view. She glanced over to the chairs in the room, only to see August with half his body on one and half on the other while he slept. "My head's killing me," she whispered to herself, squeezing her eyes shut before slowly reopning them. She made sure August hadn't awoken before standing up out of her bed. She hadn't realized her left arm was in a sling and her leg, which was in a cast, until now. Thinking she could put a little bit of weight on it, she tried, only to fall forward and onto the ground. Maybe she'd just stay there until a nurse came in.

August jumped awake when he heard something fall on the ground. He saw Kay laying there and frowned.

"What the hell are you doing?"he demanded. He carefully helped her up and onto the bed. "Your in no shape to move about yet."
