Jorge rose, mostly because everyone else was, not paying attention as to why he might be rising. From somewhere--during the conversation, Jorge had lost track--Loop favored him with a quick mental snip in the same annoying, sing-song tone he always used.
Jorgie likes a girl, he's being undone~
Silence, you. Begone from my head.
Undooooone~
Jorge ignored him. "Bella, you wound me," he said. "Do you believe me capable of blowing smoke? Of course I'd miss you. It may not seem like much, but how many people close to my age did I interact with often? Not many, apart from you."
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
I nodded, understanding his point, as it worked about the same way for me.
Out of no where, Jax fluttered down to us and grabbed me by my shoulders. pulling me closer to Jorge.
Curse the mutant rabbits access strength.
Jax, what are you doing?! I hissed mentally, resisting the urge to shoot him a harsh glare. Jorge was watching still.
You like him! He likes you! Something oughtta be done because you seem to be getting no where on your own.
I sighed, both mentally and outloud, and Jorge chuckled.
"My familar can be quite the interferer sometimes," I explained, grinning. I was close enough now that i could smell him. He threw an arm around me as he laughed, and I wasn't sure if I should be surprised at this or not.
**I hope that was okay Jorge, if not just let me know/ignore it and i'll edit it out**
Loop was sending mental chuckles in Jorge's direction. I think I'm gonna like this girl's familiar~
Yes, I'm quite sure.
Jorge was waiting for a reaction toward the placement of his arm. When no negative one was there, he decided to let it stay put.
"My familiar can be quite the pest as well," Jorge said, "though he prefers to plague me mentally rather than physically. That aside, I'm sure they'd get along amiably."
Yet as the seconds dragged on, Jorge didn't know what to do with his arm. He wanted to keep it there, resting on the warm surface of Bella's body, but... well, it could get awkward in a hurry. Eventually he compromised, giving her shoulder a light squeeze before slowly sliding his arm away.
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
(Any of you guys, feel free to describe what's going on outside this Bella/Jorge interaction. >>)
[Jorge]
Jorge's eyes softened. This seemed easy... magically easy. He had initially planned on taking a fair amount of time to develop the relationship, but now it seemed vaguely unneeded. And it was yet only day one.
Lucky you~
Indeed. Lucky me.
Jorge put his arm around her again.
"So sorry," he said with a wink. "Just had an itch."

(Seems like people always confuse me with my characters. =P)
[Jorge]
Jorge was not one to pay attention to dull speeches and announcements presented by authority figures even when he wasn't distracted--and presently, he was quite distracted.
"You know, Bella," he said, "the elder students of this facility are rather nastily infamous for trying to... crush the first year students. This academy is one giant competition, after all; I believe the teachers even encourage it. You suppose we'll do all right?"
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
I smiled at Jorge, and patted him lightly on the head.
"I'm sure we'll do fine. I think it might even be easier for us, if you think about it."
"How so?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Well, most people come here and struggled to find a group of friends. And even then they aren't assurably friends, seeing as it's all one big competition. But you and I, we've got each other, and we've known each other for a good while now, so..." I trailed off, unsure of exactly what I had meant to say. He was watching me intently, causing a good amount of distraction.
"So... we'll make a fine team," Jorge finished, returning the smile. "And I agree. We do have an advantage, the two of us. Considering how selective this establishment is, I seriously doubt--as you suggested--there exist any pair of students, apart from us, that knew each other before coming here.
"Ah, yes, and I was going to ask," he went on. "I... well, hm. I had always wondered whether your life as a servant was too difficult or demanding. We do have such high standards in our household... your work was never too taxing, I hope?"
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
"I grew up working in your household,"' I replied. "So, if it was difficult, I never noticed. Some of the newer servents had trouble, but they had no idea of the standards or expectations of your family....I....erm....Greatly appreciate your concern though."
"Well, good," he replied. "It would not do for me to hear that you had been mistreated. I know we do have occasional problems with servants... there was that one scoundrel who took far too much interest in my sister. I saw to it personally that he was fired."
Jorge shook his head; a change in subject was now required. Before speaking, he wondered vaguely how long the instructors would continue to prattle on:
"So..." he began again, "I don't believe our classes start for another couple days. What to think they have us doing until then?"
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
"I think, although I can't be certain, that we use the next few days to learn our way around the school and such. And then I'm guessing the first few days of class will be practical training that we should already know."
"Already know?"
"Yeah. It seems to me that this school assumes that we know what we're doing."
"Do we?"
"I don't. Do you?" I cocked my head, watching Jorge.
"I'm afraid not," he replied, "but I'm not concerned. Nor should you, for that matter, because as you said--there are two of us, and one of all of them. Er… something like that. Anyway, if needed, we can take this break time they have given us and utilize it to at least build a bit of a, well, magical foundation."
He nodded. "Yes, that should do the trick. Are you agreeable?"
"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
