In all honesty, Jorge didn't care much how he spent his first night at the academy. Bella could drag him along wherever she wanted. As long as they didn't die or something, he wouldn't mind.
But it was unlike him to not give any input.
"A haunted lake, hm?" he said. "Whatever the lot of you wish to do, I will join you. And I will be good to have around, lest any of you need my protection. I tend to be quite heroic, so with me around there will be nothing to fear."

"Buy, buy, buy, buy; sell, sell, sell
How well you've learned to not discern;
Who's foe and who is friend,
We'll own them all in the end."
Jorge sniffed, too eager to defend himself to notice the placement of Bella's hand. Once he did notice that they were still holding hands, though, he certainly wouldn't mind.
"Conceited, you say?" he huffed. "Utter folly. I only speak the truth. Any and all praise I give myself is never inflated, especially for any selfish purposes. That is not the kind of man I am, and any suggestion otherwise is a grave strike at my pride."

I wasn't sure what to say, to be perfectly honest. He seemed quite serious, but had also sounded quite conceited before. I decided to play it all off as a joke, just to be safe.
Laughing, I kissed his cheek playfully.
"Okay then, I must have missunderstood the way you spoke dear. I apologize to you, and to your pride."
*Start a new dialogue between your characters. We're all walking toward the lake, which is supposed to be haunted, and Jorge and Bella were having a conversation. Throw yourselves into the conversation or start a new one or something.*
Those two were really getting on Calyn's nerves. She looked around at her other companions. They didn't look too pleased with the situation either. Calyn was naturally shy, but no one else seemed to be taking any initiative.
"Ahem." Calyn cleared her throat.
Bella and Jorge looked at her.
"Would you guys maybe, like, quit talking to each other exclusively? It's kinda rude. And we're almost at the lake."
**Not very good, but maybe it'll help other people get back in.**
He smiled wryly. "Yeah I'm afraid I'm with Calyn on this one. 'Though I can guess you're exited to see your friend at the school." The group turned the last corner along the path and came in full view of the like. In twilight in glowed with an otherworldly blue fire. Kai heard a growl and glanced down in time to see Kii shift into his natural form.
Most of the others were surprised when they saw Kii shift shape. Then they noticed that their familiars were on edge too. Something was definitely wrong.

Please read and review my novel. The title is Fireborn. Here's the link.
"Cristae, what's wrong?" Calyn whispered. her silver eagle was on edge, as were the familiars of her companions. "What's out there?"
Calyn closed her eyes and concentrated. A faint golden light surrounded her. The other students looked at her oddly. She kept her eyes closed, not showing the others that their deep blue had changed to gold.
"Yes, there's something out there, but I can't tell what it is. It's lurking where I can't see it, but it's fairly close. Don't think I'm a coward, but I think we should leave," she said, opening her eyes as the light faded. "Whatever is out there is making our familiars nervous, and I don't know about the rest of you, but when Cristae gets nervous, it usually means something's not right, or that there's danger afoot."
Jarra didn't know what to do; it was the warrior caste's place to defend those of other castes, but he was now at the academy and the rules were different.
Timothy pranced up alongside him before stopping and digging his foreclaws into the ground. He bared tiny fangs.
"We stay too. It's probably nothing, there couldn't be anything dangerous outside of that forest anyway."
So you're going to kill a god. Sure. But what happens next?
