Valeri smirked. "But then we'll crush that happiness like an ant under our boots." They glanced at Dawn. "N-not that I'm encouraging violence against insects!"

Dawn grumbled. "You better not."

Cody squeezed Khalil's hand and said, "Alright, everyone, if you're tired, we can take shifts sleeping."

"Can we get food too?" Dawn perked up.

Vendetta chuckled fondly. "Yes, we can get food, Dawn. For the people that actually eat."

Dawn twirled happily, and Valeri stood up. "Alright, I think there's a cafe nearby. Anyone else want to come with?"

Amy grinned. "I'll goo~"

Vendetta grinned along with her. "That's the spirit."

"Awesome, as long as you don't scare away the other customers with your confetti." Valeri smirked.

Amy tossed a small handful. "How is it scary? It's festive!"

A table across from the group shushed her.

Amy's smile grew sharper around the edges. "Sorry."

"Ahaha. Yeah. Let's go." Valeri shepherded Amy out the door of the library, waving apologies to the other patrons. Dawn sneakily floated along the ceiling.

Vendetta followed after them, Dusk sliding into Vendetta's bag.

The café next to the library was fairly crowded. Dawn shrunk down to dagger size and slipped into Valeri's purse as they joined the line of people waiting to order.

Vendetta sighed. "Hopefully, Guy doesn't crash the party again."

Amy blinked. "I'm sorry, what?"

Valeri groaned. "Right. That disguise was an affront to my eyeballs."

"Huh?"

"Long story short, when we were running errands for Joe, Guy stalked us and confronted us at a café, where he dragged us to a weird jungle temple." Valeri huffed and crossed her arms.

Vendetta nodded. "And he was wearing a fake mustache that kept falling off his face."

Amy giggled. "Of course, he was wearing a fake mustache. He hates that he can't grow facial hair."

Valeri rolled their eyes. "I mean, he could've chosen a better mustache, at least. This one seemed like it was trying to escape his face, not that I blame it."
