A few months later, Valeri and Vendetta were happily settled in with Cody and Khalil. The ex-WANNABES were enjoying a peacefulrelaxing interesting life in the siblings’ old home, and they did indeed cook whenever the V siblings came over. (The first few times had resulted in a burnt mess and ordering pizza, but their most recent pasta attempt had been decent!)
Meanwhile, Joe was in prison. The newspapers had covered his downfall very thoroughly and cleared Cody’s name, and now the ex-self-proclaimed-hero was sitting in a corner of his cell, muttering under his breath.
“Wrong. Wrong. This is all wrong. Khalil will be mine. And the whole world will shout my name: Josephinzo the Great, Master of the Rising Sun, Conqueror of the Seven Seas, Enchanter Exalted, and Totally a Real-Life Wizard!”
Near his foot, a rat looked up and squeaked. And perhaps it was an odd quality of the echo, but one could’ve sworn it said, “Clickbait.”
