Hurricane

In Life and Pain

The wind held its breath...
How long have I howled in vain?
Without a moments rest,
trying to convey some sense of pain.

Here comes my old friend, the rain.
Can't they feel my tears on their face?
Instead they bunker down against my rage.
I change and change and it all stays the same.

How does it feel knowing
You have to be a force everyone hates?
Barely, yet surely, this blowing
beats out having people be fake.

Staying constant is a mistake.
I'd rather be the fear change makes.
I'd rather depend on the dam that breaks.
I'd rather hope nothing stays the same.

On one level it seems as though the poem is written from the perspective of the hurricane, and you do a beautiful job of describing all aspects of a "hurricane." It's clear that a lot of thought was put into extracting all facets of a hurricane in order to humanize it and make it more relatable to the readers. Lines like "Here comes my old friend, the rain...", "How long have I howled in vain?" and "...to be a force everyone hates..." are particularly delicate, but at the same time they manage to hint at the gloom which comes with hurricanes. You clearly have major skills when it comes to personification, since your entire poem is built around this device.
As others have mentioned, the last stanza is probably the best. It manages to neatly summarize the persona's feelings about his/her/its place in the world.
The musicality and tone of it all is very mild and subtle, which wonderfully contrasts with the concept of "hurricane."
Good job!

So descriptive. I loved this! Write more please!! There is a lot of emotion here, and the way it's been written really touches home. I strongly encourage you to continue writing, and maybe even try a short story with this same emotion. As always, good luck to you and your writing. Keep up the good work!

I Appreciate Your Work and the words you have used to make the poem more interesting.
It Creates An enthusiasm in the readers mind.
Keep up the good work
But In my opinions You need to use more powerful words for a 24 year old person like you.
Try to use more poetic language
And yeah thats it
You Can Do It

I like your poem. I think it's very poetic and it conveys an emotion. I love the last stanza...it strikes me in a weird way. It's cool!

Keep writing. :)

This poem seems as though it should be a rap .

In my opinion, this would be a better song than a poem .

I did enjoy it very much though :) , I just feel that it is in the wrong category .

My favorite imagery is about the rain .

Well done
