loving

If to love him was to understand him, then I did not love him as I should have.

But I loved him a lot.

Loving him was sort of like being baptized.

Not in the religious sense, if you even believe in that.

But more as a literal sense; being submerged underwater.

Maybe even in a conceptual sense as well,

such as loving him was like being reborn.

Everything was new,

everything was bright,

everything was good.

Loving him was like rehab.

No, actually better than rehab--

leaving it.

Going home.

Loving him was being able to sleep in your own bed after weeks of not being home.

Loving him was taking a bubble bath after a long day.

Loving him was a good book.

Loving him was a clear, sparkling summer night.

Come to think of it,

loving him was a biblical baptism:

a sinner being saved.

Loving you makes heaven seem overrated.

Radrook here a once again to offer some suggestions.
Apologies if i offend. It isn’t my intention.
Please feel full free to cast aside all things you deem not helpful.
But if you do be sure its true by being extra careful.

That having been said:

Thanks for sharing this poem about how being in love with someone can change how we perceive life in general for the better. I like the way that the many similes that compare her love experience to being like a baptism whee one feels forgiven and saved, to a return home from a place she calls rehab, a brightening of existence with everything seeming good, to the reading a fascinating book, and to the enjoyment of a bright starry summer night.

I like the way that the speaker hesitates and reconsiders previous conclusions. It was as if I was listening in on her very thoughts!.

The mention of rehab did indicate that the speaker does have issues in her life which are not being specifically mentioned. That did cause me to pause and wonder what those issues might be.

Suggestions

Not much to correct here.
It can be tightened up by using less words though. I found that a reduction of fifty-four words is possible.

Yeahhh this is kind of lengthy. I agree with you there. But thank you for everything you said about this! I'm happy you enjoyed.

All my love

Woah. The last line with 'you' in it really gave me chills. I like that you make it seem as if you're addressing someone else, until ythe last 'you' suggests otherwise. I can literally feel all your emotions that you're trying to portray in this poem. The message is simple but it carries so much meaning with it. I can't get over the fact that you switched from similes in the first part to metaphors in the next. It gives the impression at first you're thinking, yes this is what it feels like, but as time passes, it becomes clear that it in fact IS what you're comparing to. The pain in the writer's voice is clear and the message dives deep through the heart. Yet another brilliant piece.

Oh wow thank you so much... When I was publishing this one, I was wondering what you would think about it. I'm really glad you like it!

Hi, lilithyoung!

This is an amazing poem about how 'Loving a person' will make our live more lively and beautiful.

Maybe even in a conceptual sense as well,

such as loving him was like being reborn.

Loving him was being able to sleep in your own bed after weeks of not being home.

Loving him was taking a bubble bath after a long day.

Loving him was a good book.

Loving him was a clear, sparkling summer night.

Life will be pleasant and filled with peace when one is in love. The words poured in your poem fills the reader's heart what loving a person be like. It gives an amazing feel, thats for that.

Come to think of it,

loving him was a biblical baptism:

a sinner being saved.

Loving you makes heaven seem overrated.

Wow, these lines are the studs. Intense thoughts!

The poem kicks in at the very first line itself

If to love him was to understand him, then I did not love him as I should have

The style of the language is impressive.
