I couldn’t comprehend what you did when I first found out. I couldn’t believe that it was you doing it, and not some psycho maniac from a 20/20 special. We had only been dating for three months. My mother said that we were moving too fast, already living with each other and talking about marriage. I didn’t care what she had to say about love, after all, she was married to a man.
The first thing I found was the lungs. They were wrapped in wax paper in your nightstand. I didn’t know what to make of it, I mean, why the hell would you have human lungs in your nightstand? Right?
I dismissed it. I loved every part of you. I knew you.
Next, I found the hand in your drawer, something I was much less prepared for. Each finger belonged to a different person, stitched to the palm, with different shades and lengths.
Dismissed once again. We would have candle-lit dinners and wine-drunk nights. We would dance in the kitchen, laughing and loving in the brightest way I had ever felt. I’d kiss your neck until I felt numb and tell you stories until I had none left.
On our six-month anniversary, I found two ears in your drawer. One long and wrinkled, the other young and covered in jewelry. I noticed your pattern quickly, leaving your pieces in your special place until you received a shiny new one. What scared me most is that I let you do it.
A few nights after the ears, we were in bed, looking drunkenly at the ceiling and then lovingly at each other. I gazed into those yellow eyes of yours that I adored, your long curly hair perfectly shaped your blushed cheeks. I wondered if you had acquired a new trophy for your nightstand.
“Are you going to do that to me?” I asked, still looking at you.
“What do you mean, love?”
“You know what I mean.”
I wasn’t smiling anymore, my eyes moved to your nightstand. I expected your face to drop, with guilt or at least worry that I knew your secret. Instead, you didn’t flinch one bit.
“Never you. You are my soul.” You touched my eyelids like the petals of a rose.
You kissed me and I didn’t believe you for one second, but I wanted to.
The next morning I woke up to a blank darkness. Wet, the smell of blood gushing in my nose. I touched my face feeling the stream and raw meat where my face should be. My soul being replaced with nothing.

This story was gorgeous and chilling. I wasn't expecting the ending. They must of loved them so truly if they stayed even after finding all the parts. They should've listened to their mom though lol

This line was chilling that last part about how they let them do it hit hard. I guess love really is blind. This was a great read!
I hope you have a wonderfully wicked day!
I really loved the book! I think it is an amazing piece of writing.
It came as a shock to me that someone could still be with someone who was such a brutal killer. I mean...for you to be with someone like that even after knowing that means you can stay with the devil.
It's a mix of horror and romance, and surprisingly, I like it.It shows the blindness of love and trust in the one you love. It's a good piece of writing. I love horror and romance. I never knew I would like the blend this much.
It's a really good story.
I love first person writing a lot! I love it even more when people can really put the passion in first person writing. When they get the intensity correct it gives me a rush!
That was intense. The person stayed even after finding the parts on the nightstand? And then their soul got snatched? Or was it their eyes? Whoever they were dating must have been some kind of monster…
But then again, love is blind. This was nice to read in October. I’ve enjoyed this creepy romance poem. This could also be read on Valentine’s Day…
I hope that you will have a lovely day and night.
