Azrail Williams-Love in decaying hearts

*This story is underneath my folder titled “Love in decaying hearts.” Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs <33”. Enjoy!*

Once in the 1800s, there was a little boy named Azrail Sage Williams.

Azrail Williams didn’t have any siblings of his own, but he had two loving parents and was fairly wealthy, so that was good enough for the boy.

He was rather peculiar, though. He loved talking to ravens, going to the cemetery and he swore that he could see ghosts.

Being the time that it was back then, everyone thought he was the spawn of satan, the “off-his rocker” rich boy who thought that he could see ghosts. Ghosts! Such unholy talk wasn’t allowed!

His parents never reprimanded him, for they didn’t see what was wrong about Azrail believing in ghosts and taking walks in cemeteries. He had an understanding and respect of the dead, and to them, that showed his boundless love for what the world had to offer.

But the townspeople…they saw it differently.

One by one, they gathered to burn it down! Burn down the entirety of the Williams’ home! Leave no survivors and let them rot in Hell!

When his parents saw them coming, with their torches and their weapons, they rushed Azrail out, demanding that he flee and never return.

His Mom hastily packed him a bag and sent him out into the open, but even after running towards freedom, he still looked back.

It was a sight that would never leave his heart.

In the distance, on a hill, he watched as their once great mansion was collapsing into dust. He listened to the screams of his mother and father, the only ones who had ever shown him gentle, honey-tipped love, as they perished in the crackling, starving flames.

For the very first time, Azrail cried. His whole world was shut out like a coffin door on the deceased, burrowed into the Earth to be forgotten forevermore.

And then, as quickly as it all disappeared, it came back. A young woman touched his shoulder and consoled him, telling him that her name was Cassidy, and that she would save him.

Azrail wiped away his tears and agreed to follow her, for never before had he met a kind person who wasn’t family.

Cassidy took his hand and led him far, far away, to her cabin of flowers and concoctions.

She placed him on her countertop and told him to drink something very special. Something that would make him never feel pain again.

Azrail drank what she gave him desperately, hoping that he would never have to experience any kind of pain ever again, that he would be happy forever!

It was fine at first. Then, he started to feel it. The searing pain that shot throughout his body, from his stomach to his mouth, as though he was burning from the inside-out.

“You don’t deserve to talk to the ravens and the crows. You’re not magical like me. You’re not special like me. You’re just a little boy. You’re going to live as a vampire, just as you deserve. You’re going to grow up until you’re sixteen. Nobody will ever love you. You’re going to be lost forever. Go! Go! GO!”

Those were the words Cassidy screamed at him. Azrail’s heart raced as he ran away to the forest, to the animals that loved him, to the place where parents didn’t get burned to death and random people didn’t turn children into vampires.

He trusted her. He trusted her. Why did he trust her? His parents told him to never trust anyone, and yet, Azrail didn’t listen. He trusted her and because of that, he was a monster.

Tears clouded his eyes as he dreamed of blood flowing through his mouth, making him feel carefree, as though nothing could stop him, as though everything would be okay.

Nothing was ever going to be okay. Azrail could hide in the forest all he wanted, but there would come a time where he would leave.

One day, he’d have to face the outside world again.

Hello there friend!
This story gave me a bit to think about. firstly, since this isn't the story as a whole and just a short expository piece it reads a lot differently. the way Azrail's backstory is retold is reminiscent of a myth or legend, and since he gets unjustifiably turned into a vampire and runs away into the forest, one could assume that in the actual story he is a boogeyman that is misunderstood. Tragedy is the way of Azrail, he appears to be a character based the notion that outcasts or people who don't conform to what a society deems as normal are victims of alienation and violence. I believe we all experience some kind of violence like that at some point in our lives, whether it be physical or emotion. And just like Azrail, some people's trauma becomes too much to handle and so they shut themselves off from others, they don't always run into the woods never to be seen again but maybe some key aspect of their personality gets shut down. Overall very cool character and an interesting exposition, well done!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),

Hi! I'm Kate and I'm here to leave a quick review!!

First Impression

Well this is quite the sad moment here to have to reflect on in this one, poor Azrail just trying to life a life being respectful and living with his gift only to have everything very violently flipped on its side.

Anyway let's get right to: Kate's Line by Line Reactions;

Well definitely seems like the kind of setup that would raise more than an eyebrow or two around a school Definitely many questions being asked and very interesting little moments beginning already. We'll see where this goes.

Well looks like once again its a classic case of people just being afraid of things that they don't happen to understand and in this case going so far as to really try and chase people out of a home and even harm them.

Oh dear well that's horrifying. I thought they would all get away and the intention was to get them to flee but it seems murder was always the plan and worse, they actually succeeded and poor Azrail has to live with all the horror that entails.

Oooh well that looks just a tiny bit suspicious there, not too often you get offers like that to just be cared for after horrors like that. You'd hope it is genuine here but knowing your stories I am not going to get my hopes up too too far.

Go! Go! GO!”

Well looks like that's falling apart very quicky there. Cassidy definitely does not seem like she did that out of kindness at all there, her true self revealing itself in this moment with all that anger flowing out.

Well looks like he did his best to run away from the immediate horror there and be safe in the moment but the damage is definitely already done and it looks like ultimately he's only biding his time until he has to face all the horrors again.

Aaand that's it for this oneee!!!

Overall

Overall I think you've done a wonderful job putting that together and bringing the emotions of Azrail quite strongly to light there just all the horror he has to face and how betrayed he feels as we near the end there.

As always remember to: Take what you think was helpful and forget the rest!

Stay Safe and Have a Nice Day!
Kate
