is this what nostalgia feels like?

my lips grow fond of the word "past" as

my tongue remembers the taste of each letter.

my mouth curves over the word in fear of forgetting it entirely:

forever lost in space and time.

i am a hoarder of memories:

old song lyrics, friends, and conversations

are neatly tucked away in my mind within this state of infinity

yet they can never be revisited the same as it was initially experienced.

they are ever changing entities that live in my own consciousness until

i forget about them completely.

i find comfort in tangibility.

its permanence is the backbone to

memories that keep them alive.

i save small notes, ticket stubs,

momentos of what was once the

present are now gateways to the past.

perhaps it's the fear of forgetting.

perhaps it's the fear of being forgotten.

Wow, this was amazing, there was something so eloquent about the way you wrote each word. Each word fit perfectly into place, It was powerful, and I felt chills as I was reading it. The ending was great, the slight repetition but not complete repetition. Each stanza really ties in with the last stanza, especially the second stanza. Great job!! :)

Hello, person who wrote this. Great job on the poem, I loved all the emotion and power you had in it. I have some feedback to give you, and I hope this helps.
When I first looked at this, it was nice, and then after reading farther into it, it got really good. You used great words to describe everything, it was a very powerful poem. Not once did a really feel that the poem was missing something, and sometimes that can be hard to do when it doesn't rhyme in my opinion.
1. In your title, some of the words need to be capitalized.

2. "is this what nostalgia feels like?
my lips grow fond of the word "past" as
my tongue remembers the taste of each letter.
my mouth curves over the word in fear of forgetting it entirely:
forever lost in space and time."

You forgot to capitalize the beginning of the word after you used a period or question mark. It should be.

"Is this what nostalgia feels like?

my tongue remembers the taste of each letter.
My mouth curves over the word in fear of forgetting it entirely:
forever lost in space and time."

3. "i am a hoarder of memories:

yet they can never be revisited the same as it was initially experienced.
they are ever changing entities that live in my own consciousness until
i forget about them completely."

Same thing as the last Stanza and the stanze after that, it should be.

4. I really liked in the end how you repeated the words, "Perhaps it's the fear of." It made it a great end, with power and reflection in a why, because you don't want to forget or be forgotten.

5. My favorite stanza overall was.
"i find comfort in tangibility.
its permanence is the backbone to
memories that keep them alive.
i save small notes, ticket stubs,
momentos of what was once the
present are now gateways to the past."

Overall: Great job on the poem! You just have a few minor errors you don't have to listen to if you don't want to. Can't wait to read what you write next!

Carpe diem,

I am mostly not into poems, but this one really moved me.
I like the non-constant rhythm and the depth of this piece. It is very relatable, thank you for sharing. Here are a few things I’d like to point out:
1. Capital letters
- At the start of each sentence. For example:

Is this what nostalgia feels like?
My lips grow fond of the word "past" as
my tongue remembers the taste of each letter.
My mouth curves over the word in fear of forgetting it entirely:
forever lost in space and time.

- At the title: Is This What Nostalgia Feels Like?
- When using ‘I’ (me).

2.
they are ever changing entities that live in my own consciousness until
i forget about them completely.

I think it would sound better this way:
They are ever changing entities that live in my own consciousness,
until I forget about them completely.

3.
perhaps it's the fear of forgetting.
perhaps it's the fear of being forgotten.

An amazing end for the poem.

That’s it, I hope some of this helps. Great job!
Omer.

Thank you so much for the review!! As for the capitalization, it was a stylistic choice but thankful nonetheless :)

Hello there person of the internet. Thank you for sharing some of your feelings in the online environment, I am here to give you a little feedback on it. If you find anything useful I am glad to know I helped. So here we go with the review:

This poem is pretty nice at first sight and upon closer inspection new flavours and colors reveal themselves. The first stanza seemed pretty basic at first, read it for the second time and its meaning revealed itself. I can see some pretty deep relationship and longing for the loved one. That may explain the irrational fear of losing the memories and feelings provoked by the significant other. You used the image of lips and tongue, probably referencing the passion behind a simple kiss. Also I love how you used the concept of time, in a vague way to explain the abstractness of love, but its importance and the life changing aspect.

The second stanza is my favorite. I enjoy the idea of a "hoarder", a person that cherishes everything related to that love and keeps everything. However I find the execution of that stanza lacking. The lines are too long and destroy the harmonious flow of your poem. I see that only this stanza is like this so maybe it's a mistake or intentional. I can't see any meaning though.

The last stanza explains everything. The persona likes the certainty of a tangible thing. With the love gone he/she keeps everything related to that love to satisfy that need of palpable things. It is fear that keeps this feeling burning. "perhaps it's the fear of forgetting.
perhaps it's the fear of being forgotten."

Thank you so much for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate that you shared your interpretation! :)
