I miss you

I miss you. I'll just go right of the bat with that. After only the three weeks that I came back from Poland, I miss you. The three of you.

Julia, Martin, Michal, I really miss our strolls everywhere. The four of us walking in the tall wet grass and in the mud just to go across the field and see what there was. Our walk to town for ice cream and fighting about where to go. Walking through the forest park trying to find a shortcut to town. Everything. Just everything. From the games to the debates to strolling aimlessly to playing court and watching a movie. Thank you for everything. I had the best time with you guys.

Julia, I miss your laugh. Your crazy jokes, your smile. Your love for lightning and storms. Your weird and sudden laugh attacks of Michal simply drinking from a mug. Your even weirder laugh attacks that you got when sitting on his magical black couch! I miss our walks to town for more ice cream than we could [realisticaly] eat. Our funny videos of us acting like total idiots. Our mutual love for pretty much all music. And our totally unlucky day with 28 unlucky moments and the fact that my butt literally hurt. You look funny when your mad. You just do. Its a cool trait, actually. Thank you, for being the best friend I've never had.

Martin, Now lets just say I'm not the biggest fan of you. However, you knew how to make a person laugh. HARD. You could be convincing, but you weren't very good at it. I also knew you had a crush on me. Really, you should learn to hide it better. In this case, hiding it in plain site isn't THE best idea. I miss your crazy shenanigans in Minecraft, and your sudden niceness when Michal would kill me in the game. Your "sleepy" mood, which you used as an excuse to blame everything on Michal and act stupid. You absolutely LOVED doing that.

Michal, Thank you so much for everything you did with me. I had so much fun talking to you from 10:00 pm till 4:00 in the morning. We could always find something to talk about. I miss your laugh, your jokes. I miss scaring you while you were playing C. S. Go. You were always so nice to me. It was visible that you hated it when I was mad or sad. I miss the cheery texts asking why I was mad or sad, or the fact that you were a little scared of me. However, you were awesome at scaring me! I found it funny when you stood in the middle of my room showing the proper ballroom dancing position. You always talked to me to avoid talking to family or guests. (Not that I'm not your cousin, I just mean your mom and dad.) I miss our serious talks about the government in Poland, or what color I should paint my room. Or our little talk about ketchup and mustard. I found it sweet that you stood above me in my bed and wanted to tickle me, but the held back. So you just stood above me with your hand half in a ball and half open. I spent the most time with you then with Julia and Martin because, well, I lived in the house you lived in for the 71 days that I was in Poland. I saw you 24/7. You always seemed to be right. It freaked me out a little bit actually. You look funny after just waking up.

I miss you guys. I miss everything about you. I hope to return in a few years. The sooner the better! But for now, I want you guys to know this:

What probably meant nothing to you, meant the world to me. Thank you.

Author's note: I wrote this because I actually went to Poland by myself for 71 days and I meet the best cousins ever and if you read my story Alone than you would know what a relief it was for me when I finally had friends that I knew wouldn't let go of me so easily as other friends have done to me before. Thanks for reading this! Any reviews are greatly appreciated!

I understand this type of feeling.
I had a friend that was new in my school. All the other girls were already satisfied with their friends, so they pretty much told me "Go and be her friend."
Fast forward two years and her family split up, she moved even closer to me but never even calls, and she goes to another school.
With your friends/cousins, they live so far from you, and it is so hard to keep in touch.
I, too feel as if this friend doesn't take our friendship seriously. I was always the one making efforts to get together and talk. I loved the little author's note at the end to tie the whole thing up. Great job!

This letter is just so amazingly moving; I can tell you wrote it from the heart. I'll be honest, I was about in tears at the end. It made laugh, smile, and frown with all the emotions. I realty can't say anything except for: Wow. I think you're really brave to post this for others to read. :)

that I came back from Poland,

I feel like this would flow a bit better as "that I've been back from Poland,"

wanted to tickle me, but the held back.

I think you meant "then" instead of "the" :)

Overall, this was truly amazing and I applaud you for posting it, and asking for reviews. :)

Thanks for the review! I would have just sent them this letter, but they can't read English. They are not bilingual like me. I speak polish and English so I suppose I could translate, but I just don't want to !

Hey, basia! I don't think I've said hello yet, so here's a belated welcome to the Young Writers Society. :D I'll quickly get through the nitpicks, then I'll write an actual review.

I'll just go right of the bat with that.
Off* the bat, instead of just 'of'.

I miss our walks to town for more ice cream than we could [realisticaly] eat.
Realistically needs two Ls.

You look funny when your mad.
You're*

That letter was really sweet, I completely felt your emotions; how much you miss them, and love them (though you don't love Martin in that way) and enjoyed spending your 71 days with them. It was great how you gave each friend a separate section, and went into every little detail of what you liked about them.

And our totally unlucky day with 28 unlucky moments and the fact that my butt literally hurt.
Sentences like this added a personal touch. You recount specific events which I have no idea about, but I know it's something special that you and the friend experienced. It made the piece even more special, because it's like you're telling a secret that only the two of you can understand.

Your emphasis on some words, such as in Michal's paragraph, was great. It changed my tone of voice as I read and added more emotion. Oh, and that last line in bold...
What probably meant nothing to you, meant the world to me. Thank you.
This one! I'm not sure if that's for me to read, or if it's part of the letter. So I just wanted to say that it works brilliantly as part of the letter. It sums everything up nicely. Well done!
