Simplicity

I’m here holding a little baby girl in my arms
And I can’t help but to notice her
Simplicity.

Little baby girl, what makes you so simple?
Is it because all you do is eat, nap, and play…
Because everything is still black and white
And this world’s twisted artists haven’t faded the canvas gray?
It’s because you don’t understand, little baby girl.
You’re simple:
Eat, nap, play.

I’m here holding this little baby girl in my arms,
Watching as her eyes open up.

No, no, no little baby girl, close your eyes!
Hold on tight as time flies
I don’t want you to realize the world is at your heels
Your simplicity is the prize.
You don’t understand it, little baby girl.
You’re simple:
Eat, nap, play.
Close your eyes, stay that way.

I’m here holding this little baby girl in my arms,
Cherishing her simplicity.

It is a wonderful poem. It's interesting the way you repeat the word "simple." When I think of that word, I think stupid, but you mean innocence. It actually took me a minute to realize that. Interesting, though, I can't find any fault in it. Good job!

I loved this! Good job:) I really understand what the speaker is saying. A baby's simplicity and innocence is truly beautiful.
