For the Love of the Hero

Hey there! Here's a poem I wrote after reading some of my favorite fantasy books. Yes, it's very juvenile, but it was written to reflect the childish nature that finds its way to the surface with every amazing ending. So:

For the Love of the Hero

I love how the night is dark and still,

Devoid of any sound.

I marvel at how the air can sizzle,

Anticipation rumbling the ground.

My heart leaps at how the hero strides,

A sturdy, strong and steady gait.

Watching as he draws his blade,

I know I’ve not long to wait.

I flinch and gasp as swords collide,

Sending out a spray of sparks.

They pull apart and collide again

To the beating of my heart.

My breath is stolen as the villain falls

And the final blow is struck out of sight.

And the hero stands, tall and triumphant

As great cheers engulf the night.

I treasure the taste of sweet victory

As though it were my own.

There’s not to do but watch him go,

As he makes his long way home.

There’s a mighty bond that connects and ties

All hearts, near, far, high, or low.

No matter how the story ends,

Who can resist the hero?

Epic poem full of imagery and intense descriptiveness! Great word choice. I really liked

I love how the night is dark and still,

Devoid of any sound.

I marvel at how the air can sizzle,

Anticipation rumbling the ground.

It was great how you made the poem simple but powerful. The rhyming made it more fluid and fun to read. Great job! :)

This was cute and it had a nice meter in the begining. However, some words needed a space between them that they did not have. For example: "cheersengulf" I realize this was probably just a typo but just be careful about those. Make sure you proof read before you post. Also I mentioned before the nice meter you had in the beginging. You kind of lost it at the end but its not a big deal. Over all really cute poem. :)

this is really great! this hero sounds quite mystirious . you don't give much away about him but thats good.
