The Musing of Words

PreviousNext

Have you ever seen a word,
A truly terrifying word?
A word that seeks to instill fear
Into the hearts of Men
And Women.

It could be a name.
One of a criminal
A past Dictator that lives on.

It could be a disease.
A sickness that destroys
An illness that steals life.

Now have you ever
Written that word down
And played with it a bit;
Switching and removing letters
Turning it around
And found
That it could spell
Something Life-Giving.
Something pleasant.

I will use and example
From a brilliant author's book.
The word, "wearat"
Referred to
An evil creature
That sought to Pillage
That sought to destroy.
I have written that Word
Down on a sheet
Of clean lined paper.

I played with it.
I switched letters
I turned it around
And that evil Word
That fearful Word
Became something Miraculous,
Something Life-Giving.

The Word, "wearat"
Became Water.

Now you know
That all the pits
Of Life
Have a light
At the bottom.

All the criminals
All those who have wronged
Were born innocent.

And that maybe
If we should show
Kindness
Selflessness
Forgiveness

They could
Be turned around
No longer innocent
But made right
With past crimes
And forgiven
By the World.

You see
Even the most Evil
Were once innocent.

[To my generous sister who donated points and helped me with the stanzas

To all who found it in their hearts to give love to the broken, the needy, and the criminals of this World]

Fantasydragon01 in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, Swift, I like your poem very much. I think you did a wonderful job. It was really good. I absolitely loved the moral. We should be kind to one another. I really love to help people. Kindess fills your heart with goodness. Sorry. I just wanted to give a speech on what the world lacks and needs.
I liked the rhythm. The poem is very different from what I usually read. It is very unique.
Good job and keep writing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very truly yours,
fantasydragon01.

This is truley a beautiful Poem. it's beautifully written.
I see nothing really wrong with this Poem as far as grammar and punctuation go.
Your spelling is great.
The part I really enjoyed was when you explained that even criminals were innocent once.
You put alot of perspective in this poem and it came out beautifully. I cant wat to review your other works :)
Keep up the great work.

I love this poem, it's brilliant! I also love the topic/theme of this poem as it is very gripping with a lot of descriptive language and it just pulls you in. Overall this would be a nine out of ten for me.

I like the poem, woah, it's beautifully written. I noticed awhile ago also that evil spelled backwards is live. Which I thought was weird and a coincidence. This poem is pretty relate-able which shows one of its strengths. My favorite part had to be the ending,

"You see
Even the most Evil
Were once innocent."

That part was spot on and I believe it. It also helps that idea could cause debate. This poem overall helps you think and is lovely, 9/10.

i really like the point of this poem. i love that you are trying to show that not all darkness will forever be in the shadows and I really like that idea. You used imagery and example well, so that the reader could figure out exactly what you were trying to get at with the poem and i really liked that. As well the idea of forgiveness really stuck out to me and I like what you had to say about it, though I wouldn't necessarily agree that all men/women are born innocent, but nonetheless I did like the idea behind the poem. That being said just a few critiques:
First, I think it could possibly use more punctuation, only in certain places. For example the very first stanza "Have you ever thought of a word (comma) A truly terrifying word (question mark?" I think if you put them in it would sort of give for dramatic pauses. of course unless you didn't want a pause there and that is entirely up to you.
Also, wearat has six letters and water has five. I didn't know if that was on purpose or not?
But, all together a great poem! Keep it up.

It was on purpose. My sister asked the same thing.
Thank you for the advice!

If you have to ask, "Is this cliche?", it probably is.
