Define Normal

E - Everyone

In Poems

People say that you can't define Normal

That everyone is different in their own way

But if this is true

Then what do we call the regular pattern

Of our lives?

That pattern is comforting

It helps us to function every day

What happens when that pattern is gone?

What happens when your Normal shatters?

When the Abnormal comes and combines with doubt

We crumple

Not even able

To stand on our own two feet

But when the accusations stop flying

When the glass stops falling

We pick up the shards

With naive hope

That we can get our comforting lives back

But that life is gone forever

Leaving you to build a new Normal

And if we can't define Normal

Then what is Abnormal?

What is Original?

We may never know

This poem tells the truth of the world in my opinion. I really enjoyed this poem and the way it spoke of normality not truly existing. I believe this poem asks the truth of the world. You cant define normality and because of that we cant define abnormality so how are we judging people?. I truly loved this poem.

Define normal - I thought you were going to make a link with mathematics :P

Guess I've been doing too much mathematics.

I enjoy this poem greatly, and your use of words. I think making every punctuation a question adds a strong sense to it as if an interrogation. The us of capitalization for 'Normal, Abnormal, and Orginal' is quite brilliant, but I do think that original doesn't seem to fit, maybe another word? I see you were trying to keep the scheme of sound at the end of the words, but for some reason it just doesn't play off very well. Past that, I love the depth of this and the meaning you captured it well.

This poem you have here speaks the truth? If normal cannot be defined, then what makes abnormal and original words? Plus, I love how you make the words, "Normal," "Abnormal," and "Original" the most important by capitalizing the first letters. That's what the poem is about, isn't it? How do we live with these words pondering our minds? I can't wait to read more of your works. Please keep writing.
