Writing of the Day

Write a story of something that you really do not enjoy doing. Use this weeks vocabulary words: super, horrible, and dreadful in your story.

Student's Response

Name: Timmy Carson Date: 1-25-15

I do not like to clean my room. I bet if I were Batman, I wouldn't have to clean my bat cave. I bet Batman doesn't have to clean aything. He does fun stuff. He's a superhero, so he doesn't have to even do anything that is horrible. Cleaning your room is dreadful.

Score: 100%

Comments: I bet superheros have early bedtimes though...

Name: Celia Carson Date: January 25th 2015

I totally do not enjoy looking at my twin brother Timmy. He is a total, absolute, horrible mess. He picks his boogers, and then he eats them. I don't like him! He's just so, like, disgusting! My brother likes to stick skittles up his nose, which is like, so super gross. It is like totally dreadful, knowing that I like, have to go home every day to a booger-picking, skittle-faced monster.

Score: 100%

Comments: I like bet he like totally can't like stand you like either.

Name: Lillian Rogers Date: 1-25-15

It is a common known fact that a human being has at least one disagreement with his or her daily life. One of my activities, that I do not like to do, is tutoring students. It is a horrible mistake to have a third grader tutor a sixth grader. The differences between the two students are endless, therefore causing arguments before you even get to the dreadful questions! Though it would be pretty nice, or super you might say, if the third grader were given more challenging questions in his or HER class. Then, he or SHE would not want to tutor students three grades above him or HER. (If you noticed my captialization issues, I assure you, this is not accidental. I was referring to myself.)

Score: 100%

Comments: I will take all of this into consideration, Lillian.

Name: Jason Johnson Date: 1-25-15

One thang thing that I don't enjoy doing is using an erasor eraser. It just waists wastes time! While you're buzy busy erasing stuff, I'm done, and doing super fun things! All you knead to do is cross out the words that you misspelledd misspelled, and you get done a lot quicker! It is dreadful trying to make sure you earased erased every single pencile pencil marking on your paper! Erasing is horribblle horrible!

Score: 100%

Comments: But erasors erasers make the sentensis sentences a hole whole lot ezier easier to reed read!

Name: Jade Sherman (in the flesh) Date: 1-25-15 (but who even cares?)

So, I guess I'm supposed to do this horrible paper. (ha! Got one!) I don't like to see papers. Their all white, and pure. It makes me feel happy. Bleh. They should all be covered in black ink. Yah. That would be nice, (I guess I could use the word super in there.) I mean, that would make me feel super. Whoopee. I guess I have to use the word dreadful in this paper. Even though I just did in that sentence. Papers are dreadful. There.

Score: 100%

Comments: Wow. This is a wonderful paper. Congratulations on the grade. Yay for you.

Name: Kylie Roberts Date: 1-25-15

I really do not enjoy eating school lunches. They are normally SUPER disgusting. Once, one of my meatballs in my spaghettii moved. Plus, the ugly dishes don't help! They're so plain, and dreadful to look at. What we really need is some food from McDonald's or something. Anything's better than the horrible food that WE are served! Oh, and next time, they should stick with styrafoam plates.

Score: 100%

Comments: Just between you and me, I agree.

I like how you wrote in different styles to show each student's writing strategies. It's also really cool how the teacher seems to have a bit of an attitude.

A 100% for you!

(Yes, I know that this review was ridiculously short. I hope I wasn't a waste of time.)

Ok, it no longer counts as a review.

Very humorous!

Only spelling issue is under Jade Sherman. She wrote, "*Their* all white, and pure." Is that intentional, since she's a third grader, or was that just a mistake?

Also, I would recommend putting a little more space in between the names and "Date:" if you can, because it makes it a little confusing to see right after the last name the word "Date". At first it made me wonder if that first kid I saw had two last names until I saw the actual date on there.

But still, awesome job! ;)

Snazzy replied · Jun 8, 2015

Okay. The 'their' was not intentional...I type to fast for my brain I think... :D Anyway, thanks for the review!! :D :D :D

Hi this is thepolarbearleage, here to say that is a very awesome story. It drawed me in at the very beginning and i really liked it. When I read this I thought "this is really good". I never thought about the comments on my paper in English.

I think this is great! I enjoyed it immensely.
Just a few things....

Comments: I like bet he like totally can't like stand you like either.

For some reason, the student puts commas around her "likes", which is grammatically correct, but the teacher doesn't! Ironic, don't you think? Or, perhaps, just an understandable grammatical mistake. Anyway, the point is, there should be commas around the likes just like ha. Ha. in the student's paper.

Their They're (or they are) all white, and pure.

Comments: Wow. This is a wonderful paper. Congratulations on the grade. Yay for you.

I liked this comment up until the last sentence, "Yay for you." It just felt a bit childish, whereas the other teacher comments held a more mature air. I suggest just taking it out and adding something else in.

Besides the small things above, I thought this was great. It was creative yet traditional at the same time, and the different viewpoints of the various students were amusing and well-written, as were the companion teacher's comments. This really brought me back to when I was the age of the writers, and I imagine writing something similar at that age. Excellent job!
Overall rating: 9/10
Keep writing!
+1

Hey! I was just skimming and found something that jumped out at me, and had to say something.

Plus, the ugly plain dishes don't help! They're so plain, and dreadful to look at.

I think you should take out the first plain. It doesn't add anything and just takes you out of it.

Well, I think it's awesome, and that this is the shortest review I have ever done. So much so that I hesitated before I clicked on submit.

Keep making me laugh, and, of course, keep writing. :D

Hello! This is Em101cats, -reporting for duty- here to review your, like, work!

This is extremely creative! I never would have thought of this! And for that, I applaud you! :D

I highly enjoy how you commented on each paper. I used to ignore most teacher comments because they're always the same. On PowerSchool, all I get is "Pleasure to teach," "Working toward goals," "Pleasant and hardworking," and so on. But this gave me a whole new way to think about it. If I were replying to papers like these, I'd definitely answer similar to the ways you did. I am inspired by the way you took something so commonplace to all students and morphed it into your own version! :D

My personal thought is that you should make this a series (not exactly a novel series, though) in which each "episode" of sorts has a different assignment for the students. I'd enjoy each episode! :)

Anyways, I have no nitpicks for this particular work. No spelling mistakes (besides the ones that Jason Johnson crossed out :P ) or grammar mistakes, or anything of that sort.

(I have never bought or eaten a school lunch, ever. I am an extremely picky eater.)

Edit ~ I had something crossed out in this review, but YWS glitched and no longer crossed it out. So I just put a dash on either side of it. -

This was such a interesting and unique piece! I loved reading all the different responses and it was great how you pulled off the different writing styles. The little kid's little rantings were adorable and the teacher's replies made me crack a smile. I think this was a charming little work that brough me back to when I was their age.

Why didn't you put in a little more effort and write five sentences?

Snazzy replied · Jan 20, 2015

Thanks! :D

I didn't have that much to say.

I apologise for my inappropriate comment.
