Violin Sound

Violin Sound

Dreams of a haunting tune

draw me deeper into a slumber

of beauteous people playing

beauteous instruments; bringing

sounds that make my heart flutter,

make my mind remember

days when I created beauty

with my fingers and a violin

with my heart and my soul

echoing through my bones,

flowing through my blood,

and shining in my smile

that appears when the music

vibratos through my veins,

leading back to a faint heart

that supplies itself on the notes

of the violin in my trembling hands.

Can I produce such sound?

Such beauty?

I can try to, so I lift my hands,

I lift my violin between

my chin and shoulder

and try to produce

my heart,

my mind,

my troubles,

my happiness,

my soul,

my music;

my sound.

SIDE NOTE: So this might not make much sense, seeing as I wrote it in a short amount of time at like eleven at night or something. Also, I do actually play violin, this was written before I got my violin restrung, so it was obviously an emotional time for me. ;) But it's restrung now so I thought "Oh what the heck I'll post it." So any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Ok, firstly, as a fellow violin lover and player, not a very good one but still, I can completely relate to this poem. The way that you depict the beauty of the sound that a violin can create and the desire to create a similar sound - I understand this sooooo well. I like that you've used short lines all starting with 'my' to finish the piece. The repetition emphasises your point well. However, here,

my music;
I would simply use another comma because I think that that flows better with the rest of the piece.
Dreams of a haunting tune

draws me deeper into a slumber

Here, the subject is 'Dreams' which is a plural and, therefore, the verb 'draws' should be 'draw'.
flowing through my blood,

I love the idea of beauty flowing through blood. It's lovely.
That's pretty much everything that I wanted to say. Again, this was a brilliant poem and I really enjoyed it.
Happy writing.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback! :)

Hi! Infinity here to review, it will be a short review though as I absolutely love this poem!

I like how you've expressed your love for playing the violin in such a passionate way, i can tell how much you enjoy and put effort into it. The concept is creative and clear so very well done on this piece.

However there is always room for improvement so I have a few suggestions to make that might be helpful to you.

Firstly, as addressed below in the other reviews, you should make sure your punctuation is accurate so the poem has more clarity in the flow because at certain points it can tend to feel rushed due to lack of punctuation.

You also have a few typos in this piece e.g.

"dnd shining in my smile" here i think you meant to say, "and" ?

I would have liked to have seen you describe your love for playing violin as if you were almost the violin yourself, that could be creative?

Overall an amazing poem, keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the compliments and feedback!

Hey there, the title caught my attention, and you may see why, but as for a review lets go.
Firstly punctuation and capital letters.
In your main bulk of the poem you completely lack punctuation which is really needed, be it simply a comma at the end of a line, or a semicolon in the middle of somewhere, it needs punctuation.
Also, capital letters at the begging of the line are wrong since, they're not starting a new sentence. almost all the capitals you have used should be lowercase.

As for some suggestion for the poem, I think you could have potential to enhance your descriptions with some musical jargon, or even string jargon. You used vibrato which is a start but I sort of wanted more, even if the average cant-tell-the-difference-between-a-flute-and-a-trumpet Joe does not understand I feel that it would make it deeper to you and other musicians.
For example (these might not be in your poem but just examples) if you had something about 'stop my heart' you could say 'double stop my heart' which could have multiple meanings. Other delicate words could be pizzicato, arco, divisi, quaver. Musical terms for styles such as the ones you find at the beginning of music could add a little sparkle to the poem.

Anyway, that's it for my suggestions, good job.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I didn't really think about adding anymore musical terms, but that's a good idea. :)

I just saw a good example maybe tremolo instead of trembling or something.

So hi there :)

I'd like to say good on you for learning an instrument :D I never got round to learning but don't have the time now.

Your poem obviously came from the heart and you can tell that by reading it. But the lack of punctuation throws the reader off a bit. At the end you use a heck load of commas and a random semi-colon which really doesn't feel like it should be there. I do love the list ending but keep with the commas, the semi-colon just feels quite wrong there.
However I think that you need punctuation in the first bunch of lines, then make it so the list at the end is a separate stanza. It would be much more structured and add emphasis on what the violin means to you.

Of course you can just ignore me :P But I hope you can find anything useful in what I just said :)

Overall I love it and hope you write more poems like it.

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I'm not the greatest at punctuation in poetry.. :)
