Disguise

When I look into your eyes,
Why do I see a disguise?
Why can't you learn that it's okay
To love until you must lay
Upon the heart of only me
To close your eyes and sleep?

I will see you standing there
And hear the stories you could share
That would show you in a kinder light
And tell the world that they weren't right
To cast you off as just a guy
That wears violence as his disguise

When you're mind goes in your head
And all you see is red
I'm afraid I can't bring you back
Because what you need is what I lack
And what you want is in the past
With her, whose stay couldn't last

Because you were so in love with her
You couldn't see that she was under
A different man's spell
And I hate that your feelings still dwell
In your heart and in the lies
You tell to me, fueled by this disguise

I guess you tried to love but lost
Your heart was carelessly tossed
Somewhere, and you think it's gone
So you lost the will to move on
But can't you see that it's right here
Being placed together by me in fear
That once I give it back to you
You'll take it to her, all clean and new
Because what I see in your eyes
When you look at her is no disguise

This is really cool! I love narrative poems, which is what you've written as you've told a story through a poem. It rhymes as well, which is something that I usually am not very good at. I just end up spending all my time finding a word that rhymes, ya know? I like how it shows how the writer is in love, or at least likes, the man in question and she wishes he would get over the girl he wants back (whom I first thought was dead). Very well written!

This was really good. I love how it ryhmed, and even though was a poem it still told a story. i give it 5 stars.
