"Pandora's Box"

Life is a Pandora's box,
Full of woe, despair, heartache.
But in that despair, hope is born.
It fills you up; light as a feather, stronger than anything.
Hope is what keeps us alive.
It is what we need more than anything to survive,
More than air, food, water.
No matter what, hope is there, if you allow it to grow.
Some try to crush hope, to obliterate it,
But hope is always there.
So whenever there is a child suffering,
When food is scarce and people are cruel,
Hope is there.
Always.

Another one of your great poems! This is one of the must true poems I have read in a while though. Hope is scarce at times, but it is always there. You can't live without at least a little hope, hope keeps you going. You really captured how important hope is and how the world will try to destroy it in this poem! I love how you compare life to Pandora's box, a reference that most people are familiar with. Life really is a Pandora's box. Thanks for sharing this! Keep writing amazing poems and sharing them with us!

This is a good poem, freestyle write? (ahh writers puns! :D) I like this poem but a few comma placements are kinda awkward, like the comma between 'there' and 'if you allow...'. I also think a 'and' should be between 'air, food, water' because it messes up rhythm.

Poetry is all about the words you choose, think carefully why you choose that word, why it works and why the punctuation is needed there.

Thank you! While the repitition of "Hope is there" was intentional, I agree that it could have been done better. I also agree that it could have been longer and better constucted. Thanks forvthe constructive critism!

I think this was good but maybe it could be have been longer. You could have extended the suffering part showcasing all the ways in which suffering is there and then saying hope is there and how its there afterwards. Also At one point you repeatedly say hope is there which i think breaks the flow of the poem. Since there is a lot of good points in this poem i also think ryhming would have helped, it makes it easier to get a flow going. The only reason i keep going about the flow thing is because i think this is poem is good hence i want it to be perfect. But i especially like the start though, very powerful arresting opening, this part has to be my favourite
"Life is a Pandora's box,
Full of woe, despair, heartache.
But in that despair, hope is born.
It fills you up; light as a feather, stronger than anything."
The best part about all this is that unlike many poems i have read you don't use complex words, its the way you use simple words to create a powerful effect that really gets me, I don't know if you did it intentionally or not but its great

No one is perfect; not even your reflection.
