I never wanted to be a princess.
I never wanted to be a villain.
I wanted to be the sidekick,
the character everyone remembered
for their single lines of comedy.
The princess always got cursed.
The villain always died.
The sidekick got an adventure,
one he fought for
because of his strong belief.
The princess relied on everyone.
The villain enslaved few.
The sidekick chose his own path,
finding his perfect life
in the lists of a glossary.
The princess got the prince.
The villain got power.
The sidekick got a life long friend,
one he could rely on
no matter what tore them apart.
I never wanted to be a princess.
I never wanted to be a villain.
I wanted to be the sidekick,
as their life is never planned out
and their adventure is grand.

Ah........interesting concept! I like the theme.

A few things: What do you mean by " finding his perfect life in the LISTS OF A GLOSSARY?" I don't get it.
Also, although the theme is good, the words are rather simple and don't have much of an impression on the reader. I suggest you try using more lyrical words, figurative language and stuff to make the poem more creative.
Keep it up!

Your poem highlights a childhood fantasy, but it has a mature feeling to it. As we grow old, we think realistically or logically, and choosing to be a sidekick reflects that. While the villains or princesses are created to “fulfil their destiny”, their acquaintances choose their own path. Your poem gives me a sense of freedom; it’s simple and engaging. I loved it. Well done, and keep writing!
Oh, so you wanted to be like Jason Todd!
Hello!
I really liked this poem because of the creativity you put into it. I don't want to be a princess, nor do I want to be a villain. Most princesses are "eh", while the villains are, you know, villains. I agree that sidekicks are awesome. I never really thought of them. There isn't much to review about. I think you did a good job.
Good luck and keep writing!!! *presses the "like" button*
Nice! As a child, I never thought of it this way, but now I see how this is probably better than a princess or villain. (Maybe except for the times where the sidekick ends up sacrificing him-/herself for the princess/villain.)

I really don't have anything changes to suggest, except for "The sidekick got an adventure,/one he fought for/because of his strong belief." This thought seems just a little awkward to me.
I really liked this poem! Keep it up!
