Mirror, mirror
Is what I'm seeing true?
Is this person really me?
Mirror, mirror
Do I belong here?
Am I a mistake?
Mirror, mirror
Life is like a tunnel, right?
With one end, and one beginning.
Then mirror, mirror
What if I can't take this tunnel through life anymore?
What if I fall midway?
What if I need someone to carry me?
To help me through?
Mirror, mirror
What if nobody helps me through?
What if I'm along in this tunnel?
Mirror, mirror...
Are you even listening?
Are you even there to hear my complaints?
My screams?
I can't handle life anymore!
I can't walk through this narrow tunnel anymore!
Mirror, mirror
Would you take me out of this tunnel?
Will you get me away from this pain?
My precious mirror...
Can I go?
I look ahead, and can't see anybody.
I can't find anyone.
Mirror, mirror
I would do anything to go!
Please take me away!
I'm begging you, mirror, mirror...
Please hear my cries,
Please hear me!
Mirror, mirror
I know I must stay, but why?
Why should I face life?
Mirror, mirror
Why should I live in a empty shell?
Why must I am the strength to live another day?
Is there anything to even live for?
Mirror, mirror
May I ask you something?
Who are you?
I don't remember you.
Mirror, mirror
Get out of my head!
Stop reflecting me!
Stop showing me what I hate the most!
Get away!
Mirror, mirror
This blood now on my hands...
It's from me
Now may you look at yourself,
and feel the doubts,
the shame,
the guilt.
May you feel what I've been feeling all along.
Mirror, mirror
I see your shards spread around me
I did this to you.
Mirror, mirror
Your no longer a part of me
Your no longer with me.

This poem speaks volumes. It shows that even someone as fantastic as you ms. Busy Body can go through the roughest of times and still bounce back. I loved the fact that even showed that your reflection didn't even get you. Which is very cool because in some retro specks not even our inner selves do not understand what our hearts crave....or do they??? Maybe the mirror understood you all along and the only way you could have gotten threw that tough time is if you broke down that wall and shatter it like the mirror glass......lol just thought but maybe the mirror knew the only way for you, me, or anyone else to win, or make threw was to first smash that inner doubt we all carry.
Hey Laelle! CaptainSalty here with a review!
I do like this poem. I like how you used a narrow tunnel as a metaphor for life and how difficult it is to get through. I also like how you use first person point of view, it adds more drama to the story, which I really like. Though what I would have done, instead of italicizing the whole poem, I would have italicized the parts when you wrote
Otherwise, I really do like this poem. Sorry this review is a little short. You did get one more like though!
I want to read some more of your poems! Don't give up and always write, Laelle!

Thanks for your positive review Salty!
Hello!!!!

Retro here to do a review. First I'll talk about mistakes and suggestion (a few nitpicks is all), then I'll talk about what I like, okay?
First thing, line 2. It should be is, not am.
Line 7, you need a comma before right
My next couple of point are going to be suggestions so feel free to disregard them! well I think it needs editing in terms of font. Bold and italics don't do anything for this. It would have worked if this was say a diary entry on a bigger piece of work but here it is just distracting. Secondly a few of the lines felt repeated so maybe go through it and see if all the lines are needed, because if the duplicate line doesn't help maybe change it to something that does. Now this is my biggest problem with the piece. For me a poems ending must be the crux that draws everything together and makes the reader go wow. But your poem just doesn't do that and it's literally because of that last line. You used repetition well for that ending and the you built to something and my mind was ready to be blown and then nothing. You need a stronger punch on that last line to make me feel your pain. You address the reader as the mirror throughout and you're begging me so make it dramatic. Make me feel your pain in that last line. Smash the mirror and describe your bloody hands because you know this fairytale doesn't exist. Do anything but make it hit home.
However, all this being said I do like this poem. It's vulnerable yet dark. It's well written. It's very much to my style, I like the abandoned form. I like the dissent into somewhat madness. and I like your narrative. I think it's a pretty decent poem! Keep up the good work! I'm rooting for you!
Feel free to ask me anything!

Wow, thanks. I was still editing it when I put this down. I will have to change the ending, but it was two in the morning, and I needed sleep. But as soon as I can, I will change the ending, and font. Thanks so much!
I found this poem to be dark and extremely sad. The speaker appears to be the harshest critic of themselves. They are having doubts about facing life and struggles. They judge their abilities, and their choices and decisions. They are even questioning their existence!
This isn’t a poem with a clear rhyming scheme, so that’s refreshing to read. I felt that it was from a perspective of a person who failed to express their feelings openly. They keep them shut inside to the point they grow hatred towards themselves.
I’m not familiar with poetry, so I can’t review the technical/structural aspect of it.
Nevertheless, I truly enjoyed reading this.
Well done, and keep writing!
Thanks Artsy! I'm happy you liked it.
