I stared at the ceiling
Imagining what I could be
Someone who would be loved
Maybe
Or somebody who is resented
Someone who is forced out of the world
Maybe, just a possibility
How about someone who has a large family
Someone who is called
Mom?
Honey?
But then there is also a chance
I'll be somebody who has nobody
No one who cares about me
Someone who has seen the world as nothing
Someone who kills themselves not understanding
Not understanding the joys that are also in this world
How about somebody who cuts daily
Who doesn't see anything but darkness
And doesn't realize what they have
But now
Now I know
I know I'm somebody who can make a change
Somebody who cares
Loves
I'm somebody who can change everything
I'm somebody
I'm not anything but a treasure
I'm the change

Cute poem, and it speaks the truth. You are somebody no matter what you decide to do, and I believe whole heartily if you believe in yourself than who ever you are, the world will know. Lol love this poem Ms. Busy Body and I just wanted you to know for sure......YOU ARE SOMEBODY!
Hey there I thought I would review one of your pieces for Team WHY? and I must say I am glad I did.
Laelle, a warm personal welcome to YWS from me to you because this is beautiful . It really made me so happy because it is how I feel often and this reminds me that it is important to never give up. I savored every line in this and this is the type of writing that really inspires people to write and to enjoy life . Love you <3
Okay enough gushing lets talk poetry ! The last two lines didn't wrap this poem up as well as I would have liked. A god poem needs good closure, a lot of poets choose to do this by mentioning something about their title. Maybe even just take out the second to last line and have it say " I'm somebody, I'm the change, I know who I am ." Or something like that (sucky example I know I'm not good at poems like this).
That was really it for nitpicking you have a very good command of flow until that end bit and I like how its very sleek and you only used question marks (like no periods ) so that the words accompanying those question marks had more emphasis, very well thought through.
Keep it up
!Kat
Thanks, you may be on the opposing team, but thanks for the review.
An inspirational poem for people like us who does not count 'ourself' in the list of 'somebody'.Great transformation from being nobody to someone. You can use a bit of rythm while writing your poem to enhance its flavour otherwise its a great one.
I will try rhyming a bit next time. Thanks Sudipa18.
Hello. Words here for a review. First off let me start by saying that this is a wonderful work. I feel like one of the things that makes it so great is its relativity, pretty much everyone I feel struggles with the thought of who they are at some point. I really appreciate the tone changes you used, and the word and verse choice really kept me in the emotions of the work. Great work!
Thanks! I really am happy everyone has taken a liking to it!
Hello friend! Tigerlilly here to review your fabulous piece of work! First off, I'd like to say I love this. Its just a flat out truthful poem that is really just encouraging and uplifting. It really touches my heart, especially now, considering I've been quite depressed lately. Sometimes, I think we all forget that we have the power to change it all, and I love how you express it. No- not just express it... You completely empower the reader and captivate them and you tell the story of so many. Then, you hit them with realization. The realization that hey! We can make a change!
I love this poem. One thing in particular (that is my own personal opinion) is that maybe you could add a bit of punctuation at the end of at least each thought. That's really all I have to say about it. Excellent job, and keep writing my friend. You are awesome.
I want to give you a bravo for your work here and I'll admit that I'm surprised to find a work like this coming from someone of your age. I can really relate to this because for a part of my life I was lost in a swamp of depression and related thoughts and one thin that really made this poem work is the change of tones you've had. In the beginning there was hope and desire, the middle consisted of depression and giving up, and the end involved a positive change and positive outlook on life; the last line in particular is a great ending and very inspirational. Fantastic poem, and I hope to hear more from you soon. And again, congrats on the structure of your poem, very good.
Thanks!
