To all those who wander

For those avid Tolkien fans, like me, who've read the Return of the King enough times, you'll find a line in the poem comes from this quote:
“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.” The line: 'Not all those who wander are lost' inspired me to write this poem, and since I borrowed it from Tolkien, I'll give him his credit.

Those who wander

I once walked along the weary path,
in places t'was bent and broken.
Where many feet had long before come,
to wander aimlessly beyond.

There are those who lost their way.
But not all those who wander are lost,
some just look to walk along;
until they reach an end at last.

But I chose not the path,
I chose to go another way.
To start a trail for others to follow,
for I go where no path is.

I go beneath the starlit skies,
into the dark of night.
And in the day under the sun,
to places none have yet to come.

I walk alone, but shan't walk lonely,
for where I go, none else shall go.
Not all those who wander are lost,
but only I know where my path goes.
