“Euch, you can see right up there,” Janny muttered.
Lestili’s head snapped around and she glared at him. “You stay quiet.”
Janny shuddered as she turned back to look at the screen. As she started to talk to the Scentian it occurred to him he should have asked what she’d do if he didn’t shut up. Bit he was sure whatever it was would only get worse if he now interrupted her.
“So, opening figure?” the Scentian asked, leaning back luxuriously against his headrest.
Lestili named a number that was at least twice Janny’s yearly salary. The Scentian doubled that again.
“Wait…” Lestili said, looking round at Janny. Janny shrugged, keeping quiet. He was just glad the Scentian was speaking Endoleon rather than Scentian. Lestili turned back to the screen. “You want to pay me more?”
The Scentian jerked forward. “Pay you? I was told you had approached for hostage negotiations.”
Lestili’s frown deepened so far her nose almost detached. “Yes… Don’t you want this Scentian back?”
The Scentian’s dark brown eyes flickered over to Janny. “What? No. That’s a Fladian. What are you playing at?” The Scentian reached his arm to the left and dragged into view a being who was one of the pinker Daerians Janny had ever seen. The Scentian pointed a thick, muscular index finger at the being, who was skinny, shaking and wide-eyed. “This is also a Fladian. I am here to trade him to you in return for a chunk of TIPO’s funds.”
Lestili’s jaw dropped slowly, as if it itself was too stunned to move.
“SRA abduction activity is beginning to become a more documented phenomenon,” Janny said quietly, in the hope that Lestili might not explode. But a moment later something clicked and he exclaimed much louder, “Oh Gods! Is that - are you Horlen Doal? From the news?”
Through gritted teeth, the Scentian said, “Yes. He is. Do you want to trade for him or not?”
Lestili shook herself all over and grabbed the steering wheel. She looked up. “That is a no. Goodbye!”
They jerked backwards as the screen clicked back to the map. The little red dot representing them moved horrendously slowly as they rumbled through the boundary of the grey square. But finally they tilted one way, then the other, then righted, then were off.
“I thought you said TIPO crafts were built for stealth not chases!” Janny exclaimed as the momentum pressed him into the back of his chair.
“You are not wrong,” Lestili said, suddenly bringing them to a stop. Several bright yellow lights blinked on the screen, but never quite reached their red dot. The yellow dots darted about all over the place, bit it was like they were surrounded by a glass bubble.
“Stealth, you say. Are we… are we invisible?” Janny whispered.
“Yup,” Lestili said, at normal volume. “And if the bots are stupid enough to let a mixup like that happen, let’s hope they’re stupid enough to give up on finding us.”
They were stupid enough, as it turned out, but they were also stupid enough to keep poking about for at least half an hour before they finally gave in. Lestili had to shift around a little when a yellow dot got particularly close, but for the most part Janny’s pulse stayed calm. When the bots were gone, Lestili turned to him.
“So let me get this straight. You are a Fladian. You were abducted by two random SRA hijackers who took you to where you’d be going anyway, just a few days early, then left you to your own devices at a Flexie disco?” She raised an eyebrow at him, which almost popped off just as her nose had almost done a moment ago. Janny wondered just how much control Endoleons had to put into keeping their forms whole over the course of the average day.
“They didn’t so much abduct me as forget to put me back before they ran away from you,” Janny said. “And it wasn’t exactly them leaving me. They were going to wipe my mind so I ran away in that reception area thing.”
Lestili finally smiled at him. “I thought you said you’d never taken matters into your own hands. I’ll make a TIPO operative of you in no time!”
Janny shook his head and looked at the floor between his feet. “Please just take me home.”
The sound of air being sucked in made Janny look up. Lestili’s lips were pursed and she was staring at him with her head tilted to the side. “I’m afraid I can’t do that. We have TIPO stationed on the TS Daer-Ta, no doubt my group are looking for me at the Hub. I’m in quite a lot of trouble. Come on, I’ll take you somewhere while I figure out what to do with you.”
“No! Please! If I don’t get back soon they’ll replace me!” Janny groaned.
“What? It’s not your fault some Scentian morons came along and ruined everything.” Lestili was already starting to drive the craft away.
“That’s not the point! They’re going to need someone to keep everything running smoothly. And if I’m not there they’ll choose someone else - don’t you think they’ll find someone at the Hub?” Janny could hear the panic in his voice, in his ragged breathing. “I bet there’s loads of heads of maintenance at the Hub. And they’ll be there so soon! Come on, just take me back.”
“Sorry, mate, got bigger problems. Can’t be getting in trouble if I’m going to win this fight against the SRA. Come on. I have an idea,” Lesitili said, shifting forward in her chair and focusing her eyes on the big screen above. “Navigation: Hide Hole Five.”
A slightly less tinny robotic voice replied. “Location set. Follow red line.”
Janny watched in despair as their red dot on screen began to follow a thin red line off towards the top edge of the screen, off to wherever he was being taken next.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
And I am back after a small break.
First Impression: And that was fast. Now they're on the run...well this poor janitor has been in quite a lot of adventure. And now I guess all that's going to be happening in this story is him getting back safe. It doesn't look like they will be any kind of larger arc for all of these ongoing abductions and such.
Anyway let's get to it,
The problem being put out there early.
That was just really quick. If Fladians are that easy to recognize why did Lesli not recognize him at all. Seems like she should have been able to tell with a thorough look and after all is declarations she should have looked.
Well points for being polite enough to say goodbye before dashing off.
So they don't have like a trade ship or anything kind of fighter that can track this TIPO ship instead? This kind of situation is very likely to happen so seems like they should have more than just a few bots at hand.
Well she totally decided to just become friendly all of a sudden. No apologies or anything like that whatsoever. She manhandled him all the way there and she just expects him to forget it.
Well...looks like poor Janny will have to wait even longer before he can head home. The poor guy is getting dragged along to so many places without his consent.
Aaand that's it for this one. I'll probably get to about five more today.
Overall: The plot continues to thicken for this one but it is making still making sense which is great. And looks like we are hitting another climax soon. Leslii's change in demeanor with no apology whatsoever felt a little sudden though. She just expects him to take it all in stride? Anyway let's go see what this Hide Hole Five is.
As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.
Stay Safe

TWO REVIEWS IN ONE DAY? I may have been possessed? keep an exorcist on speed dial.
it's the little snippets like this that I really adore from Janny because, while I literally just said he's not straightforward, he does speak his mind, which I really love about his character.
I'm sure this may sound contradictory to things I've said in the past, but I really like this? His idea for initiative may be late, but it comes this time. He's starting to come up with responses to situation, albeit delayed, but he's coming up with them much earlier on in the process this time!
I HAD A THOUGHT WHICH IS NOT RELATED TO THIS but I think what would have made the segue into THIS kidnapping better would be if there had been some of the in between time where Janny is like "ugh that was terrible" and comes to term with the gravity of what he just went through (the kidnapping) and how he's glad to be out of it then? That would lead much better into his misery of being kidnapped again (because Ennet has the gun, but otherwise, Janny never really seems very upset with the situation that he's in during the first kidnapping, which makes it a little imbalanced that he is in this second one).
HOPEFULLY THAT HELPS MORE THAN MY LAST REVIEW'S RAMBLING?? It just occurred to me that might be a part of the reason it feels off to me.
well, Janny tried to tell her
"pinkest"?
NOW SHE WANTS TO MAKE HIM A TIPO AGENT I love how anyone off Janny's own ship sees him and makes them want to make big decisions like that for him and he's just like "D: I want to go home".
People Are Inconsiderate, Lestili
or that, I guess
I really enjoyed this chapter! I had to do some referencing to previous sections because I've got a TERRIBLE memory but I think I've got it all sorted out so hopefully I'm in the clear now. Maybe. Undoubtedly I will, or have, forgotten something and messed it up.
(following this, maybe I'm just terrible, but I would have liked to see more of an explanation of what TIPO/SRA is, and what they do? I know SRA was covered a little bit with Ennet and Grescin, but if I remember correctly, it wasn't much information? PROBABLY JUST DON'T REMEMBER AND I'M REALLY SORRY, but yeah. future reference haha)
But now there's character-driven stakes! I really like that you're leaning onto the panic that Janny's feeling that his job could be taken away now, and then what would he do? What would that mean for trying to return to his home ship? It's putting more pressure on the story, and I really like that! I kind of wish it had been at least mentioned before, but I also understand why it's being brought up right now.
As before, hope you're having a wonderful time, and I'll catch up with you again later ;D
This is unrelated, but I really love your avatar! Good Omens is such a good show!!
Most of your dialogue is really well-written, but in this particular instance, the exposition in the dialogue makes it feel unnatural, even more so because we've already learned most of this information from the earlier conversation.
It might be just because I'm new to the piece, but this sentence was really hard to read through because of all the pronoun.
Love the Scentian's attitude here!
Great job of describing the technological side of things without it getting too technical or confusing. It felt believable, but I was still able to follow along, which is a hard balance.
Overall, the piece is really well-written. I can tell you're putting a lot of effort into telling the plot efficiently and keeping the action moving. You could probably even slow down a little bit and give us a bit more description without losing the perky pace you've set for yourself. Great work!
Hi!
I'm here to get this chapter out of the Green Room. I'm just going to read it and drop comments/critiques as I go. I'm sorry if I come off as harsh; I'm sleep-deprived and my brain is currently unable to make things sound nice. Well, let's get to it!
I was confused when I read this, but maybe that's just my tiredness. Right up where? In any case, you should consider making it more specific.
I'm pretty sure that the bolded word is a typo.
I feel like I'm missing something important that was mentioned in the previous chapters.
I really like your writing. The spacing is good, the dialogue is believable, the description is good, an the grammar is perfect except for the rare typo.
I'll try to start from the beginning, but I suck at remembering things like that. If I don't get around to it in two weeks, feel free to PM me. Also, tag me when the next part comes out. I'm interested to see where this story goes.
Keep writing,
Mira
P.S.: Happy RevMo and Review Day!
Hey again. It's been awhile since I did a proper review, so let me just try and remember how to go through my process.
It took me a second to realize that Janny was talking about the nostrils of the person on screen versus "Euch" being the name of another character. The different facial and physical features of all of these different species is something that seems to be a bit hard to consume. I get that you're trying to make the details about Lesitilli and the rest of her species have a casual introduction, but it does seem like a bit much for them to always be falling apart.
Maybe that's just on me. I do like your use of particular details - there's probably just a more streamlined way to present them.
The deceit continues.
As the story builds, I am realizing more and more that I need to read the previous chapters for the context I'm missing. There's a lot going on within this chapter just by itself and it is nearing on the edge of being overwhelming. While you're working on this project, be aware of the careful balance between helpful and infodumping.
As we get further into the chapter, there's more details about what has happened before. I don't think I saw any mention of what SRA stands for within your story. I am getting the hang of there being different government and control entities within this star system/within space in general. The slight descriptions going on of these different entities does create some element of concern for the characters involved.
I am definitely interested in seeing where this story goes and you'll probably see me back again soon.
Happy revmo.
