Birds of writers block

In Summer Portfolio of Poetry

Love to be written in words
Emotions bleed on to pages,
Yet fleeting like a flock of birds
Birds that will be caught in cages

To cage them is the only way
To get my emotions read
In my mind they never stay
My words can't keep them fed

If only my words would flow
Like birds wings in the open air,
But my words come very slow
My genius is a bit too rare

Having just finishing Infinity, my first thought when I read this is that it is very similar to the style of rhyming the witty book uses (I forget what it's actually called, but if you've ever read the book you'd understand). The rhyming was slightly forced, but for the most part everything was fine. One part where I messed up as a reader was when I pronounced "read" as "reed" instead of "red", if that makes any sense. It broke the rhyming pattern for a second until I realized my mistake.

Otherwise, this poem is just my cup of tea: short, sweet, and rhyming. Good job, and good luck in the future!

This is very clever and very cute. I think we can all relate to this: Our little muses are like birds and the only way for them to be clear is to cage them and release them onto the paper. I think it's a really neat metaphor. Your rhyme scheme was pretty good the whole way through and the only problem is the one the person above already pointed out.

Happy writing!

Hi, I liked this a lot because I think I could relate. Wonderful use of metaphor, although things that can be described as fleeting are so often compared to birds, I think you pulled it off really well. Theres nothing worse than that feeling of having all the room for the inspiration or words to flow and it just doesnt. Its not a nice feeling at all. You've made excellent use of that void space by filling it with birds :)

"My genius is a bit TOO rare" a typo I think :)

Well Done!
