It's funny, I'll hear about the light from up above
Could I really have had all of that, if I'd hidden who I was?
It's good enough down here, this place that I call home
And I'm sure you'd like it here with me, if you don't mind being all alone
-
I'll crawl out of this hell, but where are all the angels?
Fuck that, I'm doing fine already, so I'll thrive in my own hell
-
I've turned every page, every tale that you could tell
There's nothing here for me, I'll make home of this hell
Feelings mean nothing, I traded amity for power
I have no regrets, stain blood on water
Don't hug me, you're amity's a leash
It chokes me, brings me down so frantically
If I can't rise to the top, you'll be down with me
Because I gave up amity
-
Come on now, let's see a smile, it's really not that hard
Stitch it together, do it now, or failure won't be far
Two halves can't be whole, I'm better left alone
I've become a monster now, leave my past set in stone

You miserable fuck! Hahaha!
Can you feel my pain?
You actually think I give a shit as long as I smile?
Maybe I do, but it don't mean shit!
Burn it down and build it up again
You can't get power without a little sin
It's okay, I'm alright, because I don't need friends
Because I gave up amity

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
Hi! I'm Kate and I'm here to leave a quick review!!
First Impression
Well this was quite the cynical sounding here, really tapping into the darker feelings our protagonist feels here and what drove them to make this decision that they took.
Anyway let's get right to: Kate's Line by Line Reactions;
Well this is an interesting start. We're going in with someone who was told to be someone they were not and clearly they don't seem to be a big fan of doing so. Well this is off to a lovely start as a result.
Well looks like our protagonist here has absolutely no qualms about doing what they did and is just going right in for the kill there. Really showcases the kind of approach they have to life and how they've dealt with these situations here.
Omg that chorus is amazing right there. Its so hard and its one of the few instances I've seen on here where a curse word is very much suited to the place it is in and enhancing the quality of a line.
Well really doubling down on the giving up amity part there. Really works well I think there in reinforcing that idea and now giving us just a whole host of reasons as to why this person thinks in this manner.
Well that is quite the challenge being issued there daring people to try and make them go back on this decision but something tells me there is pretty much nothing that's going to do that.
Oooh love that ending. It really speaks of this person pushing away anything that could drag them back, completely disillusioned with those that would try to do so. Really reinforces that image there.
Aaand that's it for this oneee!!!
Overall
Overall a really powerful song, really portraying everything that made this person who it was and properly nailing home just how they feel at the moment.
As always remember to: Take what you think was helpful and forget the rest!

"Funny, I'll Hear About the Light From Up Above" delves into themes of isolation, power, and the rejection of emotional connection. Its repetitive refrain, "I'll crawl out of this hell, but where are all the angels?" underscores a deep cynicism about redemption and external support. The speaker rejects the notion of a higher power or salvation, opting instead to embrace their personal "hell" as their domain.
The imagery is stark and powerful. The repeated assertion, "I've turned every page, every tale that you could tell," conveys a sense of exhaustion with conventional narratives of hope and recovery. The poem explores the cost of ambition through lines like "Feelings mean nothing, I traded amity for power," suggesting a stark trade-off between personal connections and personal gain. This trade-off results in a form of alienation, symbolized by the rejection of affection and the assertion that "amity's a leash."
The speaker's journey is marked by defiance and a twisted form of self-sufficiency. The repeated denial of the need for companionship or forgiveness ("Don't hug me, your amity's a leash") emphasizes a painful self-reliance and a complex relationship with both their past and their present self. The tone shifts between sardonic and bitter, particularly in the lines "You miserable fuck! Hahaha!" which convey a derisive rejection of both sympathy and traditional notions of success. Overall it's good
