Black lines and curves
on a sheet so white,
a paper so perfect and clean.
When stared at enough
they can become words,
communicate to others.
Pen scratches against
the cool surface,
stealing mindless ideas to bring to form.
A blinking cursor
on a bright screen,
saving place for the greatest of stories.
Click and clatter
filling ears,
fingers dancing over keys.
Eyes blazing
as it unfolds,
watching the words becoming much more.
It soon becomes
a song,
one that sings of praise and love.
The melody
goes on and on,
scratch scratch, click click.
Digging deep
into the subconscious,
creating a way of life.
Escaping it is
futile,
it will never leave.
It’s a healthy disease
clinging to the soul,
creating much more than expected.
Watching it come
to life is like witnessing...
a miracle.

Hey Noelle! Writer here to give a review. Your poetry is just progressing so much, I love this. Let’s get started, shall we?
Okay, I like the way you started off the poem. Although I think you can do a lot better describing things rather than by simply saying colors. We know “white,” “perfect” and “clean” look like because you directly told us. But I think you can indirectly tell us, therefore giving us more feeling and depth to the poem. When I see white, perfect and clean, I just see a page. But you could personify it, insert a simile or a metaphor. “White like the [insert awesome simile here]” or “The calmest sea of white” or something along those lines. Those aren’t the best examples, obviously. But I think you get the picture.
This part I think can be worked on a bit. “When stared at enough, they can become words” kind of seems strange. I mean, is that true? I’m not sure what you’re trying to go for here, but it’s a little vague. The line “communicate to others” reads awkward. Why not personify the words, first of all?
The stanza could go like this:
“When looked at long enough, the brain processing and feeding,
They can become words,
communicating to others.” That’s kind of an example, it’s not the best, again, but I think a little more description or some more information could give it more depth.
The cool surface? The paper? I’m not sure what surface you mean here, but it sounds like your scratching a pen against a table top, which isn’t what I expected? “Bring to form” definitely reads weird. “To life” is cliché, so maybe you were trying to reword it to avoid that cliché-ness? But try personifying it. (there we go again with personifying. Turns out we do it a lot more in poetry than we think we do, and I just discovered that pointing it out lol)
“Pen trails along
the smooth surface,
stealing (mindless? Not sure if that’s the best adjective) ideas and rising them from the unspoken dead.” Gah that made no sense. But “unspoken dead” meaning your reading these words that haven’t been talked about yet, so like bringing them back to life, or the unread/unspoken dead. Make sense? Just one example of personifying, of course you don’t at all have to use that. O_o I don’t think you want a dead connotation here. Anyway, just work better on avoiding the cliché. You don’t want us able to see you’re trying to avoid it. Integrate it in as normal as the rest of the piece. ^^ (if that makes sense)
Gah this needs work too (I’m sorry for repeating that, but these stanzas have great concepts. Your portrayal is what’s bringing this poem down a little.)
Bright? Like what? How can we picture that bright screen? Does it glow off our faces? Etc. etc. etc. Just paint this picture for us. Assume we know NOTHING about what screens look like or just how bright they are. I’m not sure if “saving” is describing “place” or acting as a verb. It’s just all confusing how you’ve broken up these lines. Also, here’s another opportunity to…dun dun dunn PERSONIFY.
“A blinking cursor
Waiting to move;
The treasure chest for the greatest of stories.” Again an example. I hope you don’t mind me rewriting these stanzas >.< I think I’ll stop doing that O_O But you see how that adds some more imagery and depth to the piece? Like more information is always good (just not too much). Also, though I hate semicolons in poetry, use it when you can!
It took me a couple of minutes to understand this, but then I had to realize “duh, Grace, you can write on paper or on a computer” So yay for this! I like the two differences you pull together.
I think the things you need to work on the most are word choice and punctuation. You don’t need an ellipses when you’ve got line breaks ^^ also you have a good concept, just work on enhancing it, giving it more life. I have to cut this review short, as I’m off to dinner
Oh I just love this topic XD
Hope I helped! If you have any questions, please let me know.

I shall review later ^^
Omgg! I loved this poem! <3

First of all, I am OBSESSED with computers, technology, electronics, etcetera, I'm sure you know EXACTLY what I mean!
I love your use of words. The onomatopoeia is so perfect. I can imagine the scratching and clicking totally! I really loved the imagery, such as the color word choices, in this piece. It's realllyy good!
A good title would be one of these:
a. ) " The Miracle " ( because it ends with that great splendorous word, " miracle " )
b. ) " Scratch Scratch, Click Click " ( adds the onomatopoeia , I love onomatopoeia words and sounds. Also, some good creative. Repetition can go a really long way !! )
I loved this poem soooo freaking much!!! Keep on writing PLEEEZ okayy?!

Hi Noelle,

EPICnumber1 here for a review...
Wow this fantastic I really can't find anything that needs improving but if you want a challenge then try to write more stanzas but I love the way this has ended.
This almost made me cry but I don't know why, maybe it was the last line.
But even though I am really not sure what it is about it is a great poem all the same.

Keep writing

Hello, Noelle! It's Em101cats here to review!

I must say, this is a lovely poem! I really enjoy it! This "healthy disease" must be contagious, because I got it!
Sometimes the line breaks make it sound a bit choppy, but at the same time, I think I like it this way. Feel free to ignore this suggestion: maybe change the line breaks a bit?
Other than that, I found nothing to nitpick on. So, here are a few of my favorite lines
My favorite lines are the last ones. They just hit my heart with such an impact! I love it!
In fact, my favorite stanza is the last one too, for the same reason.
Keep up the amazing writing, Noelle!
