The Player Piano

In Poetry

I filled my life with your music

I lived for every song

I danced and hummed and constantly listened

Each day all day long

.

It killed me when they killed you

The music in my head

Each note resides within my thoughts

As I try to go to bed

.

Tears fly

Screams explode

I feel my brain

Begin to corrode

.

I couldn't bear it anymore

I knew I was starting to die

My mind couldn't fix itself anymore

Some things only money can buy

.

So I moved the music from my head

To where it belonged in my ears

I murdered your ghost with a player piano

I replaced your memory with gears

I hoped this made the spotlight because I really love this poem. I felt at peace in the first stanza. When the second stanza came, I felt tears coming out of my eyes (I'm not lying when I say that). As a music lover, I know how it feels when a certain artist dies and can't make anymore music (at least that was how I felt about Michael Jackson, but apparently he's not dead when he keeps making new music since 2010. Weird). Plus, I love to hear the piano, so at the least stanza, I felt at peace again, so please tell me this made the spotlight. Please. Please. Please?

Hey, Sounds here to say a few words.

I'll admit, I've never been one for poems that rhyme. I don't know... it's just a thing. However, I really did enjoy this one. I felt like I could almost feel the emotions coming off of it. I always appreciate when I can connect like that with a piece, in an emotional way.

I always say that if I don't feel emotion in writing, I'm doing it wrong.

Music plays a huge part in life, and sometimes it is easier to just drown things out with music rather than look at reality.

Good job. Keep writing.

That's really good!

It totally relatable because I have been through a lot of tough things and I solve all my problems with music.

Reading this it was easier to understand what people feel and how they deal with things.

I really loved it. :) It kind of made my day because finally someone was able to write in words how I feel.

This poem is completely brilliant and for some reason made me think of the word, radiant. I don't know why though. Lol.

Very radiant!

Keep writing but quit reading my mind! haha

Hello, love! Aurora here with a quick review for you!
Down to business.

I danced and hummed and constantly listened
I would take the constantly out. It has so many syllables it interrupts the flow, plus, it kind of kills the wistful mood you've got going on. :)

I really don't get the 'player piano'. Maybe I'm missing something, but that just confuses me.

Overall, good.
Keep writing.

A player piano is a piano that plays music automatically, the speaker bought a player piano to play the music of their lost loved one.
