To celebrate YWS' 9th birthday on November 14, the Young Writers Society is proudly holding its first official contest in many months! Should you decide to enter, your task is to tell the story behind the picture above. You may respond in poetry or in short story, but no more than 1,000 words either way.
Deadline: November 17 in Hawaii (as long as it's still November 17 in Hawaii, it's not too late to submit an entry!)
How to enter: Submit your short story or poem (remember, no more than 1,000 words either way) to webmaster@youngwriterssociety.com with the subject line, "Birthday Contest Entry." Do not send your piece as an attachment -- include the text within the body of the email. Do not forgot to include your username!
Who may enter: Any member of YWS may enter.
Prizes: First Place: YWS t-shirt or YWS coffee mug Second Place: YWS coffee mug Third Place: A pat on the back!
Interested in judging?
If you're interested in being a judge, please send me a PM! To be a judge, you must have been a member of YWS for at least a month, and judges of course cannot enter the contest.
Normally I stay as far away as possible from Aliens, but lately I've been reading an awful lot of sci-fi, and Isaac Asimov has inspired me to give this a try. YWS Mug, here I come!
