Hi so I've been meaning to comment something constructive but they're all so great. Normally I don't like when people post poems as images in the Publishing Center because then I can't quote in a review, but here I think the formatting is actually interesting and adds something to the piece. Like the pink and Papyrus font on "unpulled weeds" is just so obnoxious but it feels like exactly the sort of thing that would irritate the subject of the poem.

And "ungrown soil" makes me think of when I had to decide what to do with all my own journals while packing to move (I almost tossed them but ultimately decided not to. I had to try not to read them and just throw them in a box lol). Actually, I think that could be the subject of today's NaPo...

The sunsets one makes me think of this neat fragment I found in my deep-dive of old NaPos "maybe sunsets aren't silent after all". It's one of those lines that begs for something more, but what I do not know yet.

Not crazy about the religious one, but I do like the line "try to cut out constellations from the sky quilt".

Oooh I like also the stars. The gore is brutal but it gives me big Psalm 2 vibes, especially v.3, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.”

@niteowl I've had it in my head since last year that I would do a color themed napo this year, at first I was kind of second-guessing myself about it just being gimmicky, but I'm really sold to this "color chip" idea -> index so I'm just going to go with it. And then the added reason for posting in pictures is it sometimes makes it easier to submit to contests if you haven't posted your poetry in text form online. :D

And thanks for your feedback! I went for a lot of thematic variety in those first few so we'll see where I go with the rest of it. :D

@soundofmind Thank you! I tend not to post my religious poetry on YWS, but I'm really glad you liked it! I was mainly pulling from Genesis 1 & John 1, because I've always loved how those two chapter parallel each other.

Also shout-out to @fraey for cheering me on while I struggled coming up with something for this next one.

The color palettes are great and eye-catching and I love getting different forms of formatting here - lost in translation is fascinating, but I like the rest of the purple-ish tones a lot as well! Really nice NaPo so far alliyah : D

Spoiler

It's currently snowing outside, and I'm not too excited about it - started writing this poem and realized its a big repeat of a lot of poems I've already written, and maybe even some recycled lines in there. But that's how this poetry thing works sometimes, we live in spirals, so we end up writing the same things again, and again. Tomorrow I'll go for something not snow related, and hopefully that makes the snow and repeats go away. Thanks for reading and following! <3

OMG the ending couplet on the snow one is just too perfect. Thankfully we haven't gotten snow yet here but it is very cold and windy.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats—the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill —The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it—and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another.
