Awake, my love -- the dawn is come.
The stars will fade, the darkness, run
as blood pools on the horizon, red,
and paints the sky above your head.

Stay close, my love -- the day is here.
The sky has dried; the sun is clear.
The world which stands before you bright
greets you now with all its might.

Now sleep, my love -- the night, it falls.
Do not heed those doleful calls
which rend the heart with lonesome fears.
Close your eyes and close your ears

to all but me, and only me,
and sleep in peace eternally.

Sonnet XXII,
Proving the true

Pretend that you and I are one among stars,
Where no-one but the Moon can boast
Of the darkness in space it scars,
Yet precious brightness we ardently host.
Magnificent light in darkness is spread
As golden riddled as the very Sun’s eye,
And opens up the truth that’s buried
In modesty’s closet-glory to one day die.
A proof to which I will always fight,
Regardless of all the times I’m foiled,
And compliments will come in loads,
Until one day all self-doubt and loath is toiled:
Then happy I, that love and am beloved,
May prove the true that never be removed;
And may I forever declare to this wonderful girl
That she is forever more beautiful than any pearl.
