~I jerked awake when the solitary light in the closet turned back on. Yawning, I looked around, wondering how I got here. Oh yeah, . . . I thought as the memories returned. Stretching as I stood and was about to walk out when the door opened, making me jump back.
One of the cleaning maids walked in, took one look at me, then continued on her business. These people have gotten used to me by now. I nodded at her turned head and walked out, making my way to the stairs. Elevators made me nervous, plus I can do my own walking.
When I got there and started making my way to my room, I heard voices. I looked down, trying not to be heard. It was the two guys and that girl from before and another I didn't know, and a doctor! The girls and one of the guys were talking, and the doctor was bent over the other one. . .hey! That's the one that picked up my book! I felt a slight rising of anger until I realised that he was hurt.
My hand flew to my mouth. Did I do that? I mentally slapped my self. Of course I didn't; I didn't land on his head and I didn't hit it. I looked behind me and trced the staircase all the way down with my eyes. He must have fallen. When my eyes returned down, I noticed one of the girls looking up at me. I stood frozen for a moment, then as she tried to get the attention of the others I turned and quickly made my way out the door.
Looks like going back to my room has to wait a while. Besides, I did plan on spending my afternoon in the library, . . .~

I press my hand upon my forehead, completely frustrated. That idea is terrible... this animation is choppy... Maybe I should take a break? Taking a look at my wristwatch, I decide that I don't have a time for breaks. I inhale deeply, deleting a file.
"Chris! Chris! I know you're home..."
I'm so deep in thought that it takes me a full minute to realize Chris is my name. "I'm busy, come again later,"
"Chris, this is a life-or-death situation! Please let me in."
I recognize the voice. It's Ethan. What could he want so early in the morning?
Reluctantly, I put down my laptop, and open the door. My eyes are suddenly half-blinded from the light that leaks through the ajar door. It isn't early in the morning. It is mid-day. I started working at seven pm yesterday evening, how could it be three o' clock in the afternoon already?
Ethan is shocked to see how bloodshot my eyes are. "How long have you been working? Nevermind that... you're about to stop working right now." Ethan walks in and takes a seat on the couch. I close the door and sit next to him.
"You said this was life-or-death," I say, worried more about my work than the life-or-death problem. "What's happening to you?"
"It doesn't have to do with my life, it has to do with yours."
This sentence made me jump out of my skin.
Ethan, seeing how terrified I look, chuckles. "No, don't be too shocked." He throws a brochure onto the coffee table in front of us.
I pick it up and read it aloud. "Hotel Umbra--an isolated island resort where the rich and famous come to get away from their hectic public lives. With fine dining, dancing, one of the largest spas in the world, and other amenities, Hotel Umbra is the perfect place to relax..." I look up from the brochure and give Ethan a look.
"What?"
"I can't take a vacation, I work with twenty-eight different cartoons."
"That's why you need this vacation. All this stress isn't good for you."
I consider this. It would be great to forget about all of my cartoons for a couple of days. "Okay, I'll go. But only for a week. And I'm bringing my laptop."
"Great!" Ethan never looked so excited in his life. "I promise, we'll have the best week of our lives. If we start packing right now, we can make the 4:30 pm flight to The Caribbean..."
Seriously? I black out in the middle of the lobby, where everyone else is and no one even once mentions tripping over a bloody unconcious person. Isn't that strange.
Nella vita vi è la distruzione, desolazione nella morte, ma c'è speranza nella rivoluzione.
I back away for the guy and stand with Zander and Viola. Annie looks petrified, but remains calm. The medics tell the guys that fell to not go to sleep for a few hours and gave him some pain pill. I grab my lap top back off the stairs and stand in front of him. “I'm Ellie, we never officially met.”
“Ferdinand. Nice to meet you.” He says
“Likewise. I hope you feel better. Oh and do not fall down any more stairs.”
“Don't worry I will try not to.” He says.
All of a sudden, my skin crawls at the sound of his voice. “Really, is this why you are running from me? You found someone else?” he says.
“No you psychopath do not jump to conclusion. I just met the guy.”
Jake
“Look bud you better stay away from...” I begin to say, but get cut off.
“Jake stop. You are being ridiculous. Go away.”
“I think you need to go.” the girl hanging around Ellie says.
“You cannot keep me away from you.” I say.
“Stalker.” The girl says.
“Let it go Jake. I do not like you. I never have and never will. Leave me alone.” Ellie says.
I take a step forward, but she takes one back. “Your afraid of me.”
“No I just do not want to be near you.” She says.

The creep--Jake--took a step toward Ellie, and Ellie shuffled back.
"You're afraid of me," Jake said, smiling smugly.
"No," Ellie countered. "I just don't want to be near you."
When Jake took another step forward, I placed myself between him and Ellie. "Good God!" I exclaimed, glaring up at him. "Back off, will you? You're insane!"
I shoved him, and he stumbled backward, and then tripped over something and landed right on his back.
"Oh my God!" Ellie shrieked, pointing. "That's a person!" She ran over to the unconscious lady and rolled her onto her back, to make sure she was still breathing.
"Annie!" I called. "Can we get the doctor--Annie?" Annie had disappeared again.
"I'll go find her," I sighed. I ran off up the stairs, wondering where Annie had gone this time.
Spoiler
Sorry about that, thestorygirl. Hope this helps to bring your character back into the story. Also, everyone, don't worry about trying to find Annie. I'll post for her later.
I'm happy we got that straightened out I'll finish up the convo.
I hesitated, looking into her perfect eyes. We just met. I can't speed things up this way.
"Um," my smile dropped.
"We should go inside... it's getting worse." I sighed, pulling off a fake smile.
My heart dropped, but what could I do? I just met the girl. I would love to kiss those soft lips. I bet they felt like marshmallows.
The rain pounded down against my skin, the cold rushing down my back. Suddenly, Lynn pulled away, her smile faded. The warmth of her body rushed away from mine, leaving me cold.
"Y-yeah. We should," she faked a smile as well.
Dammit. I made everything worse.

Lynn Caradean Well... He didn't kiss me. But what could I expect? I'd just met the guy. Plus, I'd seen that look when he'd been about to. He wanted too, but he didn't want to scare me away.... Wait. How did I know this again? We got back inside the hotel and I stood shivering in the lobby. How was it possible to be more cold inside than outside? I looked out the window and I practically made a puddle on the floor and watching the rain fall in torrents. It was so beautiful. All I wanted to do now was curl up with a book, some music and some fudge by a window with a blanket and lamp and spend my evening that way. But I couldn't forget Shane. He stood beside me, watching me instead of the rain outside. I blushed and looked down at the ground, then looked up at him again. "We should probably go dry off..." He grinned and nodded. "Yeah, it's freezing in here." I followed him to the elevator, wishing more than anything that I had thought to bring a sweatshirt with me.
Zander grins and I feel myself blush a little. "That's amazing. How did you know so much about first aid?"
My smile dropped for a second but I bought it back just then. "Well... That's a long story." I say, as we see Ferdinand getting picked up by the doctor's assistants.
"I have time." he says, eager to know.
I re-winded the thoughts of living my life with the advice of my parents only. That incident that took place when I was just 10 years old. I looked down and looked back at him.
"Okay. It all started off when Harry hit his head one day. He slipped, in other words. The whole thing that just happened reminded me of him. My desire from then was to be a nurse but my parents thought it was just a waste of time. So, I learned a few tips from my aunt who used to be one." I say.
"What did you decide to take anyway?" he asks.
"Fashion studies." I say, smiling.
"Oh! So, that's with the amazing sketching and all." he says, fixing it all out and I nod.
I realize we were walking to the beach. It was decorated with multicolored lights and a cool breeze hitting us. We walked beside the sea, as my hair flew back. There's amazing smell of food coming from distance that I'm waiting to taste. It's not dinner time, sadly.
"So, tell me what do you do?" I ask Zander, hoping to know much more about him.

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.
After a quick nap in my room, I woke up shivering. And shivering hard. It was freezing. Imagine Serbia. A tons below zero. Grabbing my comforter, it didn't help. Maybe the fireplace will work. It's in the library. I wish I had one in here.
I hopped off the bed, my feet hitting the wooden floors. They were freezing and my toes did not want to touch them anymore longer. Finding my slippers, I slid them on and got out. I needed warmth.
I reached the lobby and saw a herd of people, clustered together. There was a ruckus, everyone speaking at once. What was going on? It was dark, the black clouds blowing past the windows. Rain was pounding against the building, almost deafening.
"Hey guys!" I yelled.
Someone turned around.

We were in the library next to the fire place. It was the warmest place in the Hotel. Bookshelves towered around us with stories unread. In reality, I only cared about Lynn, not anything else.
"Are you feeling better?" I asked.
She had my hoodie on and a blanket I found. But she still looked like she was cold.
"Better," she blushed.
I was actually fine with my sweater on. Either it was a miracle or I had a weird body. I don't know, I was warm.
Scooting closer to her, I wrapped my arms around her.
"Maybe this will help,"

I must have fallen asleep for a few minutes. When I picked up my head, my hair swooped into my eyes, and removing it I found myself alone. Yet again.
I sighed quietly to myself. Where was everyone? The only people I'd seen so far were the women at the desk, the bellhop, and one person dashing out of the library when I walked in.
"Best go look, I guess." I mumbled to myself as I stood up.
Out the library doors and down the hall. Up a flight of stairs, down another one. Somehow, I kept missing everyone. That is, until I found my way back to the lobby. There were a few people grouped in one area, and I flicked my flashlight in their direction.
"Hey..." I muttered to myself, followed by a louder and more authoritative "Hey! What's going on?"
I have to write. I have to write the same way I have to eat, the same way I have to breathe. It's like life to me. I have no idea where I'd be if I didn't do what I do.
Viola, who had been grinning at me, suddenly frowned- but quickly recovered her smile. "Well... That's a long story." She said, as we see Ferdinand getting picked up by the doctor's assistants.
"I have time." I said eagerly.
She looked down for a long moment.
Now I've offended her. She obviously didn't want to tell me. Why would I ask?
She looked at me again. "Okay. It all started off when Harry hit his head one day. He slipped, in other words. The whole thing that just happened reminded me of him. My desire from then was to be a nurse but my parents thought it was just a waste of time. So, I learned a few tips from my aunt who used to be one."
"What did you decide to take anyway?" I asked.
"Fashion studies." She said, smiling again.
"Oh! So, that's with the amazing sketching and all." I say excitedly, she nodded.
I had managed to coax her outside as we walked- we came to the sea, pitching and rolling in the bay. A salty breeze blew her hair, making it fly behind her head.
She took a deep breath through her nose and sighed."So, tell me what do you do?" she asked.
I took a deep breath, my nose filling with a heavenly, deep fried aroma. I rubbed my stomach, mentally making a note to work my way towards the smell.
"Oh, um, well..." I stammered, unsure of how to talk about me.
"What is it? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," Viola assured me.
"No, it's okay...I just...well, people usually don't want to hear about me...they just want me to shut up."
"That's awful!" she exclaimed. "You can tell me. I want to know even more badly, now."
I grinned nervously. "Well, um, I don't really do all that much. I spend most of my time on the farm, so I can avoid Dad."
"Oh, do you have a big farm?" She asked, prodding me to go on.
I nodded, grinning. "Oh yeah, Dad just gave me 200 acres of my own land."
She hesitated. "Oh...yeah? Well...what do you do with it?"
"Oh! I've done so much with it! I've fenced 50 acres off for hay, and then I have cattle on about 100 acres of it- I've got 98 head in my herd."
She grinned nervously. "Um...that's cool. That seems like a lot of cows to me."
I shrugged, happy to be thinking about my farm again. "Well Dad's got a lot more, but it's a start. Right now I'm working on building a barn- then I'll buy more cattle."

Lynn fell asleep in my lap, eyes shut and peaceful snoring. It wasn't the annoying-loud snoring, it was the cute-puppy snoring. The fire kept on going in the fireplace, keeping the heat alive.
I heard some running and yelling come from the rest of the hotel but I didn't care. All I wanted to know was that Lynn was safe with me. God, was she beautiful.
I pat her head, running my fingers down her soft, rainbow braid. There was nothing I could hear except for the sparks jumping in the fire. This is the best night I've had in a very long time. Better than singing onstage with Hung Up, the crowd roaring just at the sight of you.
Yeah, this is better.

Jake ends up leaving, cursing as he goes down the hallway. I roll my eyes and pick up my computer bag. “I am going to mess around on the computer. I will see you later.” I say to Jade.
“Okay see you later.” she says.
I wave to her and head to the library. I set up my computer and wait for the page to pull up. It does not take long and I am on the internet. I cross both my legs in my chair and begin to click away.
Not five minutes go bye before my parents call me on Skype. I smile and answer. My brother, mom and dad sit at the computer. “Ellie!” they scream.
“Hey guys.”
“How do you like it?” my mother asks
“It is beyond beautiful. It is perfect.” I say.
“Great to hear. Lots of money coming out of my wallet.” My dad asks. My mom slaps him and I let out a laugh. “You are worth it my dear.” she says.
“Wish I was with you, but got to make money.” Jacob says.
“It is okay. Wish you were here to, but I have to run. I need to work on a few summer projects.” I say.
“Summer is for relaxing not school.” Jacob say.
“Not when you want to succeed in life. Love you .” I say hanging skype up.

OK, I'm going to move things along with a time lapse. If you're in the middle of a conversation with someone else, feel free to finish, but then post for the next morning. The weather's a little better, but communications to the mainland are still down. The lightning strike did some pretty serious damage there. Things like 3G devices that get internet anywhere still work, but that's about it.

When I woke up in the morning, I went straight to Ellie's room. I was about to knock on the door, but then remembered that she might still be sleeping. I waited outside for a few minutes. I was about to give up and visit later when Ellie opened the door.
"Hey, Jade!" she said. "How are you?"
"Pretty good," I answered. "Don't you just love this hotel?"
"Yeah," Ellie chuckled, nodding vigorously. "I could seriously live here."
"Me, too," I agreed. "You know, I've always wanted to run a hotel like this..."
"I bet you could," Ellie said. "I think Annie just renovated an old building."
"Yeah, I could," I mused. "We should do something like that one day."
